    I made cashew butter twice before I saw this and followed what you did. Both of the other times, I needed to add oil. This time, following your method, I did not. All three times I made it for a friend. She liked this last butter the best.
    Between yesterday and today, I also made the ice cream. I live on Zanzibar Island in East Africa and this island is known as the Spice Capital of the World... which means the spices here are really strong. Knowing that, I should have used less nutmeg. I also did not use vanilla from here. 🤦🏿‍♀️ Despite that, the ice cream was delicious! The consistency was definitely like dairy ice cream. I love this ice cream so much!
    Thanks for both of these recipes.

    Great video but I was wondering will putting dry items into the wet container cause pitting?

    • @BlendingWithHenry
      @BlendingWithHenry  4 года назад +3

      Ah that's a very valid question. In this instance when making nut butters it will not cause pitting. As with any normal blend with ice you will see small scuffs on the container that require you to hold it up the light to see. The Dry Container pushes the ingredients in the opposite direction as the wet container so when making flour from nuts it will cause pitting.

    I've been using a KitchenAid hand blender for this. No lid. Does the job...though, I'm sure no where near as good as a Vitamix

    • @BlendingWithHenry
      @BlendingWithHenry  4 года назад +2

      Thanks for watching! You can actually use any preset as long as the time of the preset fits for the recipe. Presets are just timed with gradual increases and decreases in speed. They don't truly know what you're blending so they can be useful for any recipe. For this ice cream recipe with the ice cubes blending time takes about 40-50 seconds so I can't guarantee that a preset is the way to go. I generally don't rely on presets. Much of the videos I create are using the variable speed control.

    But didn't the roasting already destroy the nutrients? I love your videos so I hope that the tone doesn't sound negative. Wouldn't the nutrients already be destroyed though?

    • @BlendingWithHenry
      @BlendingWithHenry  4 года назад +3

      Anytime cooking raw foods past a certain temperature will end in destroying some nutrients. What I was mentioning in the video is over-blending will result in smoke and steam coming from the nuts and it will fully destroy the natural oils. Blending nuts shouldn't be any longer than 2 minutes. Often people with lesser quality blenders and food processors tend to make nut butters but spend 20-30 minutes churning them into butter. At that point all the nutrients are fully destroyed.

    Wait why worry about the heat from over blending if we will roast them ahead of time???

    • @BlendingWithHenry
      @BlendingWithHenry  3 года назад +1

      It's the same principle as when you process something, it has a very short shelf life. Whole raw peanuts can last for several months fresh when kept in an airtight container. Once you use them to make peanut butter you're breaking down the cell walls and releasing the oils that protect them which leaves the butter with only a 3 week life span. Over-processing something that is already processed will kill any remaining nutrients.

    For people allergic to coconut, what is the best substitute for for coconut cream in your opinion?

    • @BlendingWithHenry
      @BlendingWithHenry  4 года назад +3

      While you "can" use cashew cream instead (which is cashew milk made with far less water) the fat content is much higher with coconut cream. The only alternative I can recommend is to use dairy-based cream such as heavy whipping cream. If you can consume dairy then that would be the best alternative for this recipe.

      @BlendingWithHenry  4 года назад +1

      @@user-qr4ey3xv4j Hi Mike! Yes it's not the easiest to do 3 cups in the 64oz container. That's why I said a minimum of 3 cups. The newer S2 low profile Tamper would be able to process minimum amounts but I would highly recommend to stick with 4 cups. Just to be clear I wouldn't recommend to use much more than 4 cups either, otherwise you would be tamping a lot and ingredients may end up over and under-processed.
