We've come a long was since then, and now you can buy sprouted almonds, almond butter, organic sprouted almonds, organic almond butter, and even sprouted organic almond butter (which is the most difficult to find and quite expensive). Roasting the almonds first makes for the best flavor and texture, but I don't mind losing a little bit of that the way I make mine (if using sprouted almonds, it's best to go slow so it doesn't get too hot while blending them in the vitamix). Hello! I’m new to your channel. Love this video and can’t wait to watch all your others and get caught up. I’ve never even had a blender before and I’m 65. I must have been living under a rock or something. Also have just started the WFPB lifestyle but with no oil, salt, nor sugar due to heart issues. After doing lots of research (including your channel) I went with a Vitamix re-conditioned Standard C series. Thanks for all your fun and informative videos!!
I was making hazelnut butter and viewed this just to see how long it takes in the vitamix. I have made it in a food processor before so giving the vitamix a try. It is SO much creamier in the vitamix I love it. I will make this almond butter as soon as I finish my hazelnut butter.
Thank you for sharing! I made some almond butter in my Vitamix, and it turned out great! The only difference is that I roasted some cocoa beans, I took half a tea spoon of brown sugar and crushed it to powder, and also added 100% vanilla extract to it, and it turned out delicious! I might try out making regular almond butter one day, but I think I'll be repeating that experimental recipe I decided to try once again once I finish it :)
I needed this recipe and tried it and I love it! I wound up getting a1200 at myBloomingdale IL Costco awhile back and THEN I discovered your channel! Anyway I love the videos, your professional production and style. Stay warm in MN. Chicago misses you! I need my Chicago Diner fix soon! Be well!
I've always put my nuts in the blender warm when I about to make any nut butters. It's easier that way because the oils are already warmed up so it cuts down the time to make the nut butter. Plus I sprout them first too. It taste even better that way. Trust me!
If you leave almonds hot then they will release oils with ease and time decrease to 2 minutes. So putting them into oven is step to make them hot to make almond butter easy.

I used a food processor added a pinch of salt and about a tablespoon of honey it took about 10 minutes and turned out perfect…put the nuts in the blender while they are still warm it releases the oil better
I started with roasted almonds... It literally took me longer to clean the pitcher after than making the almond butter. Unbelievable. Best protein shake of my life with the remnants of the almond butter. WOOOO! Mine was also very fast to make and I started with roasted almonds. I have the 7500.
I saw where Vitamix recommends cleaning sticky stuff using two cup of distilled white vinegar and one cup of warm water~~just fyi in case someone else sees this!
Thank you for this!! I just made it in my Vitamix- and I totally thought it was going to overheat, but it turned out great! Just curious- I see so many other videos on RUclips where people are making Almond Butter in a Vitamix in 1-2 minutes. Do you know how they're able to do this? It seems like their methods are the same- roasting the raw almonds, letting them cool beforehand, but my Vitamix definitely needed about 8-9 minutes of blend time on high. There was no way it would have been done in a minute or two. Have you ever been able to make the almond butter without blending so long?
I have E310 and I made this in 1 minute tops. In fact even the method in this video is wrong. I prefer not to poke around with the tamper and quickly you’ll see the nuts will start to become creamy and create that vortex effect like you’re making a smoothie. And with that affect, you’ll have a nut butter in 1 to 2 minutes at max depending on how much nut you put. I tried it with 550 grams of cashews and it only took around 60 to 70 seconds. I’m talking about silky smooth, almost watery like nut butter, not chunky. I only used the tamper in the first few seconds and that was to clean the sides where nuts stuck. I didn’t push down in the center. If, however, you’re poking around with the tamper, you’re not giving it the chance to create the vortex effect. That way it’ll take longer.
@@TolgahanBozkurt I have an E310 as well but mine took much longer too. Did you add oil? It seems adding oil would result in a much faster nut butter. But I just wanted to use almonds.
Great eye. I actually can't remember which. That day we shot "cleaning a cloudy Vitamix container" so we had both a new one and a freshly cleaned one. Tutorial coming soon!
best way I've discovered is to pop it into the dishwasher, it comes out as brand new every time only 1 thing to note here take it out as soon as cycle is finished
@@LINY My last batch I did not refrigerate and they lasted several weeks, maybe between 1-2 months in fact. It wasn't super creamy though, thinking I didn't blend them long enough. I'm on my second batch tonight, will blend longer and try the refrigerator this time.
This doesn’t work in my vita mix. I paid $700+ for it right from the company. VM0185 series. It makes 4 cups of dry roasted peanuts into butter perfectly. I toast my 4 cups of almonds, cool them, put into blender and blend on nut butter setting. It always throws an error code. I even use the tamper. It took over 30 minutes to make my almond nut butter. The machine kept throwing a code.
How do you adjust cooking time/temp for fewer almonds? I mistakenly bought a bag of raw almonds, and I just want to roast the rest after making one painful batch of unroasted almond butter. Thank you!
Can you over-blend?? My almond butter wasn't as liquid as yours so I kept blending and it started coming out of the bottom! I didn't realize this until it was quite the mess. It was all over my landing pad and took forever to clean the bottom as so much got stuck between the black piece and underside of the bottom of the container. Praise God I didn't give up and got it clean (I know you're not supposed to take that piece apart, and I didn't), but also praise God for Vitamix customer service! She suggested next time to do 3 cups instead of 4 (I have a 48 oz container and Vitamix previously told me min 2 cups, max 4 cups). I did everything else exactly as you guys shared in your video. It never overheated either. And very strange, but it got more liquid after sitting a little while. What did I do?! 😆 I just read through several comments, and it sounds like it still got too hot and melted the seal?? I want to keep making almond butter and not be afraid of using my Vitamix! I read perhaps just running it for 1 minute at a time? How long do I wait in between minutes of blending? Love your channel - thank you!
Tried to make a small portion - only 300 grams. Did not work well. I followed all the other instructions. Apparently the low weight was not enough to push the almonds down to the knives although i used the plunger. After some 15 minutes I got a paste but quite grainy. By the way the Vitamix book tells you to add oil - it is not my intention to add extra calories to the already quite fatty butter.
Does your container lock in place? I have a 5300 and it does not lock in place, which is a little annoying for me because I have to fight it from jumping off the base when I use the tamper.
Hi there, thanks for this as I didn't realize I had to blend for this long. Do you know if the A2500i will have the same results in nut butters? Thanks, Abbe
I made this on Sunday but my blender overheated. I have a 3300 model and got an error message. After googling it, I realized it was the failsafe. Sucks, but oh well. I think I may have been running it on too low of a speed, which made the motor work harder than it needed to. I should have ran it at a low speed for a few moments and then cranked it up to 10 for the rest of the time.
Thanks for your informative videos. I have a question though. I am .planning to get A2500. Do I need to purchase any other container for making nut butters or I can make it in the original container? Thx
you can make 4-cup batches of nut butters in the low-profile 64-oz container that it comes with lifeisnoyoke.com/vitamix-containers/#secondary-container
You can just buy food processor attachment , it would make this video looks over compacting stuff, it is just shoving you almonds and leave it and every minute or or so push the almonds for the edges, and 5-6 minutes and it would be completely the same quality as this one.
Which one do you have? If you don’t mind me asking, I want to buy one that is good for nut butters and frozen smoothies I think I’m going to call their c.s and see what they recommend
I am starting to make homemade almond milk...and almond butter eventually. Can you tell me how to soak raw almonds (about one cup) and how much water and salt to use. Hope my 2011 Vitamin 5200 can do it, never failed me yet!
I soak mine overnight. Then dump the soaking water and rinse the almond. After soaking, put the cup of nuts in the blender with the desired amount of water - I use 4 cups of water to one cup of nuts. You can vary the ratio of water to nuts to get the level of creaminess you want. Some people do 2 cups of water to one cup of nuts for a creamier consistency. Some people do 6:1 to make it more economical but I find that a little watery. 6:1 think skim milk, 4:1 think whole milk and 2:1 like half and half!
Not sure what happened, but mine turned into a hot mess, literally. It never creamed. It smelled like partially cooked almond flour, and was very hot. Followed the recipe as stated. In looking at the almond packaging, they are not raw, they are slightly pasteurized. Could this be a factor? So bummed.
Hi, I'm about to purchase my first Vitamix and I hope you can help me out with a couple of questions. Apart from the self clean program and the timer/remote touch screen feature thingy, (I actually prefer the 'old fashioned' button model on the A2500) what's the difference between between the A2550i and the A3500i. Apart from those 2 features, what can't the A2500 do that A3500 can? Thanks for your help. Abbe
Can you make almond butter in the small 8 ounce cups? I just got mine and it was an epic fail as there was no way to push the nuts around. I got finely ground nuts but not creamy enough for nut butter.
Messed two jars trying to do so with my Vitamix, gets hot then the seal shrink i think then when you put liquid it leaks through the bottom where the adapter is. Is there anything i can do to not mess my jars ok they send jars back but not really Eco friendly.
It's sad I tried making almond butter three times in my vitamin x I used the tool it came with and all I made was almond dust it never turned in to butter I did roast them I did not want to add any oil but I was pretty pissed off I spent over $500 on my blender and that was one of the main purposes for buying it so I make it in my high power food processor it gets the job done but I was very disappointed I will try step by step what you do to see if I have better results
You say this is RAW and you baked the almonds! :-) Also slightly warm almonds grind Much Better than room temperature or cold. Also the Vitamix Scraper Accessory is Essential for Scraping out the nut butter without ruining other rubber or silicone scrapers which don't work well and get damaged. I put 2 cups blanched Almonds in the Vita-mix and run it for more than ten minutes and I ended up with a dry paste. I even added 1 table spoon of Avocado oil and still the same. What am doing wrong?
I made this an accidentally roasted the almonds for 20 minutes instead of 10. I immediately made a second batch and did it properly and the first one was so much better. The second batch was too dry I had to add oil and it didn't taste as good.

heyhey! excited for you!
Me too, Robert. I just ordered my first blender EVER and so happy I was able to get a Vitamix. I’m anxious and nervous both! 😮🤗
@@Kathy_Is_Blessed YOU WILL LOVE IT!
I can report back and say that I am absolutely loving my Vitamix! It was an excellent decision to take the leap ❤️❤️
@@Kathy_Is_Blessed Good luck! You're gonna love it 💜
Hi and welcome! Great pick! Excited for you!
@@LINY
Why do you need to roast the almonds? Other recipes don’t state to do that… Just curious.
I was making hazelnut butter and viewed this just to see how long it takes in the vitamix. I have made it in a food processor before so giving the vitamix a try. It is SO much creamier in the vitamix I love it. I will make this almond butter as soon as I finish my hazelnut butter.
Wonderful!
what model of vitamix do you have ???
Thank you for sharing! I made some almond butter in my Vitamix, and it turned out great! The only difference is that I roasted some cocoa beans, I took half a tea spoon of brown sugar and crushed it to powder, and also added 100% vanilla extract to it, and it turned out delicious! I might try out making regular almond butter one day, but I think I'll be repeating that experimental recipe I decided to try once again once I finish it :)
which vitamix model did you use?
How smooth does it turn out? Is it like shop bought or grainer? I want to buy one but it's so expensive, I want to be sure :)
Be well!
Chicago diner is my favorite restaurant of all time. Thank you!!
Hey! Chicago kids represent 🤘 Hey Bloomingdale, Wheaton here 😊
1 tip. To cool it faster. Keep another baking tray ready. Just shift them onto that tray and slide into the fridge.
I am going to try. I have a big bag of organic almonds. Why do you have to toast them first?
Roasting helps emit oils which makes blending doable without adding oil
I make almondbutter and add cardamom before blending. Try it. It's delicious! ❤
I've always put my nuts in the blender warm when I about to make any nut butters. It's easier that way because the oils are already warmed up so it cuts down the time to make the nut butter. Plus I sprout them first too. It taste even better that way. Trust me!
I put my nuts the blender with care, then I pulverize em real good like. Hurts like hell. 🫡
How do you sprout them? And do you warm the nuts after sprouting them?
Fantastic thanks. Will try tonight!
If you leave almonds hot then they will release oils with ease and time decrease to 2 minutes. So putting them into oven is step to make them hot to make almond butter easy.
Great and easy recipe! Thanks so much
I made macadamia nut butter in my vitamix recently... HOLY CRAPSTICKS it was incredible!
Holy macbutt Batman! 😄
@@LINY I just wish macadamias weren't so expensive to buy!
@@ArtByEmilyHare Considering how energy-dense they are that might be a blessing in disguise ;)
@@pixeltrance right? I mean it would be nice to live somewhere where they are grown, but no such luck! I haven't made it since I made this post haha... too expensive!
What model vitamix did u use?
I just received my new Vitamix today sooooo freaking excited to start using it!!!
Vanessa, it's your best investment, I bought my Vitamix whole nutrition center, model 5000, in the year of 2000, I use it practically everyday, I looked very beautiful and younger than my age at 72 years, I don't even exercise. Way to go girl. Blessings
I bought mine at Costco for $100 off
Excellent flow in explaining things during the video .
Glad it helped!
Thank you for this video! I tried making almond butter today and it turned ut perfect! 😍
Would this be faster with the food processor attachment? Thanks for all your content!
How long does the almond butter stay good in the fridge?
@@AC_2.4-10 Yes I did add some oil to make it easier.
They add oil but don't always show that step. They cut the clip to make it seem shorter. This video is a more honest representation of the process.
Looks like you either got a new 64 oz container or you cleaned it up really well! :) Great vid. Can't wait to try!
Can I mix cashews with the almond and make butter thanks for your reply
I save those talenti jars too :) For mayo and hummus, but will also try a nut butter one of these days.
do it!
Do you wash the almond ? If so , how do you dry it?
How do you store your almond butter? Glass container in the frig or room temp? Can I make half the amount in my smaller vessel?
I wish I could afford one of these blenders but I can't. Looks really useful.
I buy unsalted roasted almonds it's awesome 💜
What I want to know is how long will this last in a closed jar? Should it be stored in the fridg?
Definitely refrigerate! And they should be good for two weeks at least! :)
@@LINY My last batch I did not refrigerate and they lasted several weeks, maybe between 1-2 months in fact. It wasn't super creamy though, thinking I didn't blend them long enough. I'm on my second batch tonight, will blend longer and try the refrigerator this time.
No soaking or removing the skins? And why do you cook them? As cooking depleats the nutients?
Have you tried Nuts To You Almond Butter or MaraNatha though. It's the best store bought brands that I have tried.
Can such almond butter be made in the E-310 blender? How much (the least) you need to add almonds at one time.
Vitamix said for a 48 oz container, 2 cups minimum and 3 cups maximum.
Is there a chance to over blend? It can become cooked? So the butter will get harder then it should?
Which vitamin blender is this?
We figured out the big difference between homemade and store-bought (often creamier). Both are 100% almonds. But only one is 100% *of* the almonds.
Very smart mate
Haha
I honestly ment you are very smart working that out man
I made this on Sunday but my blender overheated.
Yes mine too
Question 🙋🏻♀️ first liquids, then fruities/vegetables, THEN ICE… The order in my booklet is reversed 🫤 is it different for the Ascend a3500i?
SOLVED… it’s the order for the small containers 😅 🫙 (obviously, cause you reverse them too 🤦🏻♀️).
Yes!
You reverse it in the small containers because you load upside down 👍
how does it stay fresh in the fridge for? im going to make whole made crunchy peanut butter.
a week 👍
Thanks for your informative videos. I have a question though. I am .planning to get A2500. Do I need to purchase any other container for making nut butters or I can make it in the original container? Thx
you can make 4-cup batches of nut butters in the low-profile 64-oz container that it comes with lifeisnoyoke.com/vitamix-containers/#secondary-container
You can just buy food processor attachment , it would make this video looks over compacting stuff, it is just shoving you almonds and leave it and every minute or or so push the almonds for the edges, and 5-6 minutes and it would be completely the same quality as this one.
How long will it keep in the fridge?
Could you let them sit on the cookie sheet or in a bowl overnight? Would that make any difference?
Please can u show me the kind of blender you using ? I would love to buy one
A3500! lifeisnoyoke.com/out/vitamix/a3500-bsf
Last time I made nut butter in my vitamix it melted the bottom of the container were it got to warm
Which one do you have? If you don’t mind me asking, I want to buy one that is good for nut butters and frozen smoothies I think I’m going to call their c.s and see what they recommend
I am starting to make homemade almond milk...and almond butter eventually. Can you tell me how
to soak raw almonds (about one cup) and how much water and salt to use.
6:1 think skim milk, 4:1 think whole milk and 2:1 like half and half!
thanks for this marcie!
How to store? In fridge or on shelf? How long does it last?
On shelf: around a week
Fridge: A month
When making peanut butter can i just use the cheap salted peanuts?
For sure you can
Can peanut butter be made the same way?
Fo sho! It's actually much easier than almond butter
Not sure what happened, but mine turned into a hot mess, literally. It never creamed. It smelled like partially cooked almond flour, and was very hot. Followed the recipe as stated. In looking at the almond packaging, they are not raw, they are slightly pasteurized. Could this be a factor? So bummed.
At what point should I add vanilla extract and dates if I want that flavor??
My Vitamix a2300 burned from the bottom on its 2nd day trying to make almond butter following your recipe.
Hard to believe.
Abbe
I tried this today and….
My vitamix cup puffed up from the bottom and when I put cup on counter it wobbles.😮
When you say go to 10, is that the same as high-speed on the classic?
the very same :)
I just have the nearest Vitamix containers, is it ok to do nut butter with that too?
yep!
Yes you can get that in the store
Can you make almond butter in the small 8 ounce cups? I just got mine and it was an epic fail as there was no way to push the nuts around. I got finely ground nuts but not creamy enough for nut butter.
you cannot for the reasons you mention. :(
@@LINY Thank you for replying, much appreciated. Guess I will have to make a bigger batch!
What model do you have?
@@karenrobertson1325 the A2500
You say this is RAW and you baked the almonds! :-) Also slightly warm almonds grind Much Better than room temperature or cold. Also the Vitamix Scraper Accessory is Essential for Scraping out the nut butter without ruining other rubber or silicone scrapers which don't work well and get damaged. I CELEBRATE whomever designed that scraper because it saves a lot of frustration getting your nut butter out!!
How does it taste is it sweet or just nutty ? Really interested in making this as ordering mine soon on Monday coming as after that it's paying debts off
Also is this in the wet/normal container ?
like fresh almond butter :)
yup
This is one of the best how-to videos I’ve ever seen. The b-roll, the narration, the vocal variety… Spot on!
BTW - How are people getting the nut butter creamy in only 1 minute, as opposed to 9 minutes?
Thanks! And good question - hard to say
If possible u can send me a picture of the blender so that I can buy similar one from China, I'm a Ghanaian and I love watching ur show , I'm residing in China
I put 2 cups blanched Almonds in the Vita-mix and run it for more than ten minutes and I ended up with a dry paste. I even added 1 table spoon of Avocado oil and still the same. What am doing wrong?
They need to be roasted 😊
This made me go nuts.
my Vitamix stalls ridiculously! i have a similar if not the same one as you, i struggle even making hummus, not sure why
Question, looks like you have the preset, but she is cranking the variable wheel instead. What do you prefer? Do you tend to not use the presets?
Really depends. It's probably more helpful for everyone to see us using variable speed in the video, because that's what most have.
So it’s ok for it to heat up, right?! It gets pretty hot
But not too hot! Let the almonds cool for an hour after going in the oven, and don't blend for too long
How well would this work out if I try this in a “wet” container? Specifically the wet container on an Explorian E320?
Just fine! Nut butters are best in a non-dry container!
Life is NOYOKE Excellent, thanks very much! Love the content
Great video. Can I use my ninja food processor? I can’t afford vitamix at the moment 🤩👏
Can't hurt to try!
Will it work it no oil and raw almonds?
No baking?
really, really tough with raw almonds, no baking and no oil. really really tough. i've never seen it done
Great video new subscriber
Awesome thank you!
I wonder how many vitamix blenders overheat because if this method and throw an error code.
me too
My vitamix 7500 series was just delivered!! I can’t wait to make almond butter! Do you refrigerate after making it? New sub by the way 🙂❤️
yes, we refrigerate it! :) good luck! remember high speed! :)
@@LINY Ok, thank you!! 😊
Thanks !!
I made this an accidentally roasted the almonds for 20 minutes instead of 10. I immediately made a second batch and did it properly and the first one was so much better. The second batch was too dry I had to add oil and it didn't taste as good.
Great feedback. 20 minutes might be better
Thanks so very much!!!!
you're so very welcome
The Vitamix book says to soak the almonds overnight. Has anyone done this? Which is better?
I don't think you can make butter with soaked almonds. Well, you would have to then dry them in a dehydrator and roast them next before blending.
"Activated" organic macadamia I used in my 20 dollar blender went very smooth!
Can it be done on the dry cup?
Sure
