My Day 2 of this week and oooohhh!!! Let's see what Home Free get up to here!! (Also, please note that Wednesday will be a different upload and Home Free will resume on Thursday!!)
The Let’s get it On by Tim Foust, he totally own and ace his solo.
Chris Rupp and Darren Rust were the main arrangers at the time but I think this was Darren.
Jen is going to *melt* at this song. Shot in one take, she's in for a treat.
Tim Foust's idea for this mashup. He was aware of the lawsuit between Ed Sheeran and the Marvin Gaye estate due to the similarities of these two songs. Yes, that's Reilly and McKenzie Zamber aka The Hound and The Fox in the video and they also produced and directed the video as part of their production company Fifgen.
The Hound & The Fox also have a video of Thinking Out Loud that is them getting ready for this date.
This video was shot in one continuous take, with the boys running around behind the camera to be on their mark for the camera to pan past them again, the BTS video for this is quite fun to watch as well.

I love that Tim threw that starting wap-wap-wap-waaaw out there during recording and they decided they wanted it, and then he realized he had to perform it live every time they do this song. There are live versions where he's just like.... *Sigh*.... *Big breath*... Wap wap wap waaaw...

One thing that is often missed in this video (especially with reactors) is that it is one take. Beginning to end, no cuts. Adds another layer of impressiveness.

The fact that Home Free is so versatile and nimble with their vocals make certain that we Home Fries will never get bored because it's always a guessing game as to who's going to sing what at any given moment. And they'll never become stagnant because they continue to grow and challenge themselves. That makes me so happy! Great analysis as always! ❤

Home Free, when they do their videos, tend to do marathon shoots. So they will take two or three or more days of down time and put into making several music videos. So this one was shot in the same location and in the same time frame as the Butt's remix. I think Chris said they had rented the space for 2 or 3 days so made the best of the situation by doing multiple shoots. I think they recorded another one at that time...I think it was "Country Fried Pop Medley" but I can't be certain. The brick wall in the back of that video is visible in the Butt's Remix video at one point. At least the lighting is very similar. So I am thinking they did all three videos in the location.

Jen - This has been very high on my favorite HF songs for many years. Now... after watching this reaction video twice a day for 4 days straight, I think you pulled up short on reacting. I thought you could have gone so much longer. I love your analyses, and this one is special (can you believe this masterpiece of arrangement). McKenzie and Reilly Zamber are very involved in creating the videos of Peter Hollens, Home Free, Pentatonix, and other groups. It is not surprising that they are in this video or that they have had such a close association with Peter, Tim, and Adam Chance over the years, collaborating with them musically. H + F, Hollens, & Chance are all located on the West Coast.

You always do such a great job of ferreting out the details of the performance. You seem to easily hear the little things Home Free does that I hear, but don't hear, as they provide such a fantastic background to the lead. As always, I have a better appreciation of the song I heard before and didn't hear the little things you point out. Thanks Jen and keep up the great work.

I am soooo happy! I have wanted to see your reaction to this song ever since I first saw you react to Man of Constant Sorrow! And seeing your eyes raise right off the bat at Tim's wap wap wap waaaa made sure I was going to see one of your better reactions to them. Did you note that this video was a one-shot? This is still my favorite video by Home Free. It has it all: two great songs, a great arrangement and a lovely story/acting/direction by two of my other favorite singers. Glad to see you enjoyed it, and your reaction added to my enjoyment of this effort by all concerned. BTW, H+F do a great mashup of their own on "Castle on the Hill/7 Years Old".

This was actually filmed the same place as the Butt's Remix. Tim didn't think he would ever do that beginning in a song. He was just messing around with the opening notes. Always enjoy watching your reaction and analysis of these songs.

I like the subtle lyrics from "Let's Get It On" in the background during Austin's second verse/bridge (c'mon c'mon c'mon baby) which I think is being sung by Rob & Chris. While all songs show off ranges and talent, I felt this one really showed off the variety of vocal-fries, riffs, growls, cries, yodels, breathiness... just a very diverse showing here.
(Also thank you for having a transparent r/ah like me... as I am from the Boston USA area and we tend to only have a 25-letter alphabet here/he-uh).
Jen I'm surprised you didn't notice and comment on the whistling. It's very subtle and way in the background but accents well. Nobody mimed it for the video but I'm assuming it was Rob taking the role during recording as he has on previous occasions. Regardless, yours as always was a wonderful reaction. I have learned to read your facial expressions and predict what your comment will be when you pause the video. Thanks for doing what you do young lady! 😁
