I'm glad they got to do this with him before he passed. Now it needs to happen with Ray Stevens before he goes too.
They did "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" with Charlie Daniels before he passed - there just isn't a video. Tim was the voice of the narrator, Charlie was the voice of the Devil, and Austin was the voice of Johnny. It was almost as much a short radio play as a song.
Some people seem to have trouble distinguishing between Tim and Charlie 😂. I thought it was pretty clear, myself.
They have also done Mississippi squirrel revival.
I think this arrangement shows, perhaps more than any other, that not only are they great singers, they're great musicians. Listen to how complex this arrangement is! Constant changes in lead, in background vocals, dynamics. It is just a masterpiece.
There is a video of Chris Rupp explaining how they filmed this video with KR. It is on his official website. Very interesting.
What an honor for the boys that KR asked them to sing with him!!! Can u imagine?!
What a combination!
Great analysis ..... but ..... we need a Home Free / Jen collab 😃
🤞🏼😁
Yesss!! 🤞😁🤞🤟🤠🤟
How awesome would a HF/Jen collab be with one of your originals?! 🤯🥰🥰
I do love this song! It's on their set list for the Christmas tour this year with Chance singing much (all?) of Kenny's part. Glorious!
Oh lovely!
I heard it live at their Wisconsin concert. Chance was the perfect choice to sing Kenny's part. His voice has a similar quality to Kenny's. HF is so good at matching the right person to sing which song or part of a song.
Got to hear it at the concert (party) in Wisconsin as well. Great analysis as usual.
*chuckle as an older Home Fry I absolutely Love it when we get a Live Blooper , They are so rare but they are always comedy Gold and on Children Go at the WI Dells show Dec. 10th we Got a live Blooper from Chance followed by a tech talk with Tim explaining what happened.
never laughed so hard in my life because we were all just grooving with HF on a song that feels like Hey remember Kenny Rogers? and Chance is just Yum doing it. Giggle Chance stepped forward on that final verse just a bit more aggressively maybe and accidently hit the Button on stage that controls the inner ear monitors cue system. Tim told us that they got some fancy upgrades and their sound guy Chris W. told them all about it how much better it was going to be because the click track now included a pitch reminder. Chris said it would take getting use to because there were a lot of new things this could do but it would be great. Apparently one of the new features is a skip. It doesn't matter where you are in the song when "Skip" is activated by the button it immediately moves you into the next song done or not. so the guys were shocked and confused Chance seemed to know what happened Tim caught on quick so there was a bit of a chuckle between them and Chance said My fault annnd I didn't want to sing that song anymore anyway. Then Tim explained about the new tech. the rest of the guys were trying not to loose it at that point. You just know Chance had a long night on Waldo. LOLOL Love the Live Bloopers because you just don't know what you'll get like a bonus comedy show in the middle of the show. I'm so Happy to have been at a show and got to see them handle the unexpected they way they do. Damn they are the best people.
@@SBQDawn I so agree with you. It was so so funny. I spoke to Chance at the UVIP before the show and he had a very bad sinus infection. I asked him how he could sing with it and he said he would just muscle through it so when Chance stopped singing my first thought was OMG his voice went. lol, I was so relieved when Chance spoke & Tim explained what happened.
This is absolutely one of my most favorite Home Free songs. SOOOO good. And your reaction was fantastic! I'm sitting here listening again - with the volume turned up.
So fun! Thank you 😁
I was able to see them Dec9th in Minnesota for their holiday concert. They did this with Chance doing Kenny’s part. It was fabulous!
Ski-U-Mah!! (Fabulous concert! Totally agree!)
So glad to hear that they are still performing this song! So envious that you were able to see them live!
I was there, too. What a fun night.
And my seat was empty because I was sick.
@@nanadeborah8717 Oh, so sorry for you 😞
This is one of my all-time favorites of Home Free and I've probably listened to it more than anything else. Go back and just sit back and listen and GROOVE your heart out! Over and over. You wont be disappointed. It's extremely catchy, so much fun and never seems to get old. All the vocals are incredible - the contrast in voices, the jazzy inflections, the dynamics & articulation, the 7th chords, the intertwined parts... aaahg!
Reminds me of Take Six!
You were wondering about Adam he says he’s always learning new sounds and improving sounds.
I think you have been told that Tim is known for blowing speakers at concerts well he now has company Adam blew the speakers at a concert recently they were out long enough to have a Story Time With Tim.Adam was so proud of himself it was so cute 😂
Even HF’s sad songs leave me with a warm/hopeful feeling.
😁😁
The Carpenters were like that too. If you check the lyrics of many of the songs, they are just heart-rending, but Karen's gorgeous warm fluid voice and Richard's arrangements make them like a gentle hug. Home Free has that as well.
What a special collaboration- they hit this out of the park 👍👏
When I see you are reacting I start smiling before I even hit play!! Loved this one for sure!!! ❤
Kenny Rogers has worked with some of the biggest, most talented musicians and vocalists in the last half century. He has made the career of several names we recognize as legendary in the music industry. To have someone of his status be impressed by your vocal skills, your vocal musicianship, has to be one of the highlights of a career filled with them. And, those careers filled with highlights aren't over, not even close. HomeFree are only adding to that list every year. All while staying some of the most grounded people in music.
Only one word comes to mind when I hear this version of this song--LEGENDARY❣️🎼🥰🎶♥️
#HomeFree #HomeFreeDoesChristmasBest
great reaction as always. Your right they always leave you in a good mood, and they are so humble at the same time.
Absolutely love this, it's such a bop! It's too good to leave just to Christmas. Jen will you please react to their cover of Take Me Home Country Roads? It's an older one but the harmonies are beautiful and Rob goes off!
Some of the hardest songs to perform (and listen to) are counting songs or repetitive listing songs. But this one with Kenny is different just enough every verse that you bop along with it.
Can you just imagine what Home Free would do with "The Twelve Days of Christmas"? It would be even funnier than "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer".
This is a classic by 6 classy vocalists! Kenny Rogers is one the few country singers I followed before Home Free grabbed me on the Sing Off and taught me about country. modern and rock. The variety this arrangement puts into such a repetitive tune is praise-worthy, masterful, and just plain genius. Love, love, loved your reaction and comments -- as always, Jen. Happy Christmas season!
“How are the Christmas concerts for Home Free going?” GREAT!!! I had VIP tickets for December 9th. Sat right behind Rob’s family…adorable children! They did this song and “Do You Hear What I Hear,” one of my favorites. And many other great songs, not all holiday, but it was a nice mix. I’d say the 4th time was a Charm!! Can’t wait for 5th concert!! Merry Christmas Jen! 🎄
Just saw HF Sunday, this one got me up and movin for sure……. At one point Tim pointed to our group and called us “the ass shakers”. 😮😂😂😂😂😂. Adam Rupp blew the sound system at the end of his solo.👏👏👏👏
Another one for the record books! Loved it Jen! I find it absolutely amazing - astonishing even, the number of well=known world famous singers/performers who these guys have performed with and even redone some of the most iconic songs in history!!! It really makes a statement for what these guys do! I mean, here with Kenny, The Oak Ridge Boys, Lee Greenwood, Don McLean, Jewel, Mark Wills, Billy Gilman (*song was a hit in US), and so on/etc. These guys are somethin' else!!! : ) and you too!!!! Be Safe
Oh no! I got caught up listening to Jen's Christmas playlist and missed the beginning of this!
Kenny has a VERY distinct voice for sure.
Girl, I'm soooo happy you finally reacted to this! I knew you'd LOVE it, as I do. Thank you, Ma'am!❤ Merry Christmas!🎄🎅
I'm so glad they did this with Kenny before he died
I love Rob´s voice
Great breakdown. I am waiting for the day they do a song with you. You need to listen to Lady by Kenny Rogers you will be blown away. Merry Christmas.
I love your reaction! Your giggles always put a smile on my face and in my heart. Have a wonderful holiday season.
Jen, I think this was your best reaction to date. I really enjoyed it. Merry Christmas!
You have noticed the bounce. I grew up in a family who always went to church for the gospel sings. Southern Gospel is a celebration and one of the few times you see all the people attending , from 90 yrs all the way down to babies in arms, dancing in their seats, with toes tappin', and hands clappin'. There was usually a Gospel group and local musicians to complete the atmosphere. Everybody left one of these gatherings with a spring in their step, a smile on their face and a song in their heart (*Earworm alert* literally a song stuck in your heart for the upcoming week) . Celebrating the blessing that God gives us does that to a person. Merry Christmas sweet Jennifer!
Thanks again for reacting - just watched your STL vlog last night; looks like you had a fabulous time - glad you got to see Home Free in the States. Saw their Christmas tour on 12/14/23 amd it was FABULOUS - had a good blend of Christmas songs as well as others - Colder Weather, O Holy Night (Austin had a little slip), lots of others I can't remember Elvira, Ring of Fire, Warmest Winter, Grandma got run over - encore song was Sea Shanty and they invited the audience to get out of their seats and get up to the stage -- Tim's low made the concrete floor shake -- FABULOUS.
Don't forget Kenny Rogers and the First Edition when you check out Kenny's discography. "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town" for example.
Love your analysis Jen!! You are just so much fun and react like I do to them. Kenny sounded great for 75! The boys did a tribute to Kenny with the Gambler when he passed away at 80. This song is joyous and so much fun and they all sounded great. Yeah Adam is usually on the outside of the boys but he was right next to Kenny. Love it!!!🥰😃
what i like to do is just listen to their songs and just enjoy the music and the joy that it gives me. Then i wait for you to react to it so i know what i'm actually hearing and how it's happening and that helps me understand why it's making enjoy it so much. I learn so much from your videos, thank you
Totally love this version of this song 🎧, sadly not long after this we lost Kenny
Austin’s gospel roots are showings.
Thank you!! I love your focusing us so we get the full gift , yours as well.
Gambler,Lucille Lady his duet with Shenna Easton We Got Tonight...Kenny rogers Rabbit hole worthy
Dear Jenn, you are by far my favorite reactor. Your analysis are not just thorough but your whimsy is funny and refreshing. Hope you had a great holiday.
Joy to the world live by Home Free is a must see 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This may be considered a Christmas song but I listen to it year round! It's just such an uplifting vibe from start to finish and it's full of good energy! I knew this one was going to have a lot of pausing from you and you didn't disappoint! ❤
THANK YOU!! CHEERS!
Jennifer…know that when they were done with their final take, Kenny Rogers hugged Adam Rupp and wouldn’t let go for over a minute. He loved his time with Home Free and appreciated Adam Rupp’s talent for the arraignment so much that he couldn’t thank him enough. Made me cry 😭 to find that out. What amazing talents and gifts from God!
This is a classic Black Spiritual! ❤
I LOVE your swoony facial expressions- we all have them too! ❤ The red mic goes great with the green blouse- merry merry!
I got to see Home Free perform this song live in Fargo on December & it was amazing. I loved when they performed it with Kenny Rogers too!
HF taking us to church! Loved those gospel chords. Oh that outro got me in the feels, Kenny was such an icon with un unmistakable voice!
You are awesome. Loved your reaction. Thank you.
To appreciate Kenny Rogers, you need to react to the song "Lady" when he does it LIVE.
Agree ...
I absolutely agree with you
And when he sings it with the composer, Lionel Ritchie!❤
Jen, I just love your reactions; it looks like you are having a great time with the Home Free reactions, and it's just like you just get all sucked up in the atmosphere and sound, and forget about the world around you. True, genuine reaction, I am LOVING this! :)
Oh forgot….Have a blessed Happy Christmas!!!❤😄🥰
HI Jen, just come across this. Made me smile and like you have it going round my head for ages. Keep up the excellent work
Gospel is definitely not my thing, but this makes me smile and chair dance every time. Loved your reaction. Another one that it would be fun to hear for the first time again. They did this at the Christmas concert I was at earlier in December. And, yes, the audience was up dancin' and clappin' and singin' along. Great fun. (If the question you were afraid to ask was if Chris and Chance ever sing at the same time, the answer is yes. Once. What Child Is This. On Chris' channel. And it is fabulous.)
Thanks, Jenn. Merry Christmas.
This is an old African-American spiritual. We sang it as children in school and church programs Ohio USA
Loved your reaction Jen been a Kenny Rogers fan since 1970 when he played at university.
Merry Christmas, Jen! Loved your reaction and this great arrangement by Kenny and #HomeFree! Such a wonderful feel good gospel Christmas song.
Jen about time love it worth the wait ❤
Thanks for another great reaction video
I am glad they still do this in their Christmas concerts with now Chance taking the lead on it
I enjoyed this reaction soooo much...and I absolutely love all your reactions! 🥰 I would love to hear you react to their song Moonshine. It always makes me angry to see 🙈 that very few people have seen it...only 558k 😮 I simply don't understand why...it is soooo good! Let's help them make that song more popular!!! 🥰 I think you could definitely help them with that ❤
I so wanted to go to a Christmas show, to many obligations, hopefully next year 😊
This is a favorite collab Home Free did. Chance sings Kenny’s lead when they sing this in concert. Fabulous! I love that Kenny was a homefry like us! Merry Christmas Jenn! I hope you heard Tim’s amazing full of cheer, a personal favorite!
Home Free just made this one extra special. It is one of the last songs Kenny Rogers was in. What a wonderful bop this is. Love when you get your mind blown Jen
That was sooooo fun ❤
First time listening to this one, thank you for this reaction 😊🔥
I love your face when Austin first came in.
Since you asked how the Christmas shows were going, I just saw them a week and a half ago in Minnesota. They did this song toward the end, with Chance doing Kenny's part. It was excellent live, too.
Also, a fun fact with the clip at the end: Kenny Rogers (and the First Edition) actually did a version of "Elvira" before the Oak Ridge Boys made it famous.
Sincere reaction. Greetings from Holland
Love your reactions!!
Jen that was such fun! Great video. Please make time to check out Home Free’s video for “What Christmas Means to Me “ this holiday season. R&B Rob comes out in his full glory and it just slaps vocally. The video is hilarious as well. Merry Christmas!
Great reaction and analysis, as always! If you have not done so, you would surely enjoy their version of "Angels We Have Heard on High"
The song has its antecedents in a very old English folk song (The 12 Apostles), which was adapted and reconfigured into this version by African-American singers in the late 18- or early 1900s. Lyrics can vary quite a bit.
It´s funny that you´re thinking about Adam spitting when they did Elvira with the Oaks Tim warned them NOT to stand to close to Adam because of his 2 nickname -- Spitter 🤣🤣
😂😂
Another joyful reaction! Thank you, Jen!
Kenny rogers singing Lady live. Shouldn't miss it
Such an honor for them to have performed with such a master before he passed. Just Wonderful. ❤
Welp...did it again...!! I was watching another reaction to a HF song on my phone when Jenn's popped up on my computer...so, I cut that other one a little short of the end, during the reactors comments, and came to Jenn's. I'll keep running to yours as soon as I see a new HF drop by you. You're the best...by far...!! Merry Christmas...Jesus was born to die, so that we might live. What a glorious season we are celebrating!! Be blessed...!!
Kenny Roger’s and Winona Judd did the first “Mary Did You Know” that lots of us heard. It would be worth looking up. Merry Christmas.
Enjoyed your reaction & analysis! Merry Christmas!
Truly amazing, has been a favorite every Christmas! And so special for Home Free that much like American pie, Kenny ask for them! American pie, Don McClain ask for them! Great break down Jen. Have you seen Snow Globe? A Tim original! God bless and Merry Christmas! Low bass Kenneth!❤
My fave over the years!
Great reactions Jen!
Lovely song. Great reaction. Love how you get so into it.😊 Merry Christmas, Jen
Jenn. You gave me a Christmas gift!❤
You made my day.
I love this video
Hey Jen! Great reaction again! 👍😉
You asked at the beginning why it's titled "Kenny Rogers *feat. Home Free*". They performed this song with him for Kenny's Christmas album. 🎄🎶🔥
I absolutely love this one! Huge Kenny fan since the early 70s. You definitely should look into his catalog over the years.
Ahhh Jenn loved how you was like oh no dont be over 21min into the video 😂😂😂😂 We can never get enough of HF for sure right?! Im super happy they got to do a song with the legend Kenny Rogers before he passed. And it definitely was a bouncy song you couldve went one more button down on ur blouse 😂😂🫢🫢🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
You should do long black train with Chris and Tim
Loved this! Great job
😂😂😂😂
The joy in your face is priceles! Finaly you did this one. I have been waiting for it and I knew you would love it. Did your feet do a happy-dance?
This one has become one of my happy-christmas-songs. Yes, this is christmas to me. 😉
For sure ahah! Thank you😁
You have been talking about Robs gospel voice. This song will take you to church! Halleluja! 😂
Pentatonix just released this on their newest Christmas album last month.
Green… red.. oh! Christmas! ❤ Time goes way too fast. Gosh, it will be summer again before we know it!
So, the song started around 1:17 and by 1:19 you were already starting to bounce ever so slightly. 😂
I’ve been looking forward to this for at least a few days 😜 and it did not disappoint.
Hahah I was instantly hooked! 😁
For the essential Kenny Rogers, check out "Lady", written by Lionel Richie for Kenny to record. Absolute perfection.
The spitting question 🤣🤣🤣!!!
Check out Kenny Rogers live singing Lady
Chris Rupp did the background info and tells us everything about the filming. Check out his channel for this.
I know the song from Peter, Paul, and Mary's Christmas album! It's a great song.
I love this collaboration - Kenny Rogers still sounded terrific! Home Free's harmonies, singing & beatboxing are always fantastic. I just ran across an older live video of Home Free singing this: ruclips.net/video/tof6o4Dm3zs/видео.htmlsi=SRVC1yPpliUAq3k5 - it's terrific too! 🎄🎄
Merry Christmas Jenn😍
Lovely song, great reaction. Can you just picture them "Kenny Rogers is reaching out to US!? Is this a prank/crank?!??!" and the fan squeeing commences when they realize Yes this icon of country music has reached out to collab. Kenny sounds so good here too. Glad they got to do this with him. They all look like they had soooo much fun doing this
I love your eyes
