Pahang is the largest state in peninsular Malaysia. Kuantan is the largest city in Pahang. This is our second video in Pahang, with our first being all about the famous mustang king durian in Raub.
Speaking of durian, we eat durian savory and sweet in this video! Pahang is famous for several dishes, including ikon patin tempoyak, a fresh water fish with fermented durian.
In this episode, we will show you 5 different street food in Pahang state, specifically the city of Kuantan, the largest city in Pahang. We will cover some of the best food in Kuantan. Hope you enjoy this Kuantan food tour.
We also took an incredible night time river cruise in Kuantan where we explored a mangrove park, watched the sunset, searched for crocodiles and watched fireflies come right to our boat! Thanks to @KenAbroad for inviting us @Travelgramers and @JetLagWarriors for this memorable experience! Definitely one of the best things to do in Kuantan.

‘Durian just makes me happy.’ - Greg 2020
Our day at the durian farm was a life-changer!
@@FoodandFootprints malaysia and asean people only crazy about durian..but now mat saleh also crazy with durian..hahaha this crazy
syukri latip not many foreigners tasted fresh from farm durians...
I can’t tell which food is better:
The one that makes Greg nod his head up and down while chewing like ‘Oh yeaaaah’
or
The one that makes him shake his head side to side while chewing like ‘No waaaay’
Good question! 🤔😂
Haha..😂😂Steve's hilarious as usual...😂
The way Greg explains food is informative for a real foodie like a lot of your fans, but still interesting and entertaining for a regular guy like me! It’s a real talent
JetLag Warriors do great explanations as well. But Greg's explanations are perfect for tv food channel.
Thanks a lot! Glad it is entertaining for you too. Always fun to do
Everyone has their style, which is great!
@@ed8280 , I always believe he should have his own food review tv programme! 😃 Love his food review. Never fail to make me hungry...
Daging salai is one of my favorite too. Glad you loved it like I do 😁
Absolutely incredible dish! "Really good, Ivana" level 😂
Greg makes me hungry every time I swear
I m starving now
Your videos too Steve.
Haha that means I've done my job
Greg’s chop stick skills are on point
No surprised just sayin
Thank you!
Not surprised at all haha
Great nature walk intermission. This video man!! One of your best yet
Appreciate that - thank you!

You are right! Thanks a lot - really appreciate it and hope you have a great day too
Warung paksu is a must go place everytime i visit kuantan
Awesome! We can definitely see why
This is legit a documentary. Has Jumi been taking editing courses?? Sheesh what a masterpiece that intro was sick
Saiful n Sharifah when u coming to JB? U want durian goreng?
She's a natural editor.
I agree with u Steve, 100%.
@JetLag Warriors dont ask to a women about editing courses because women can do everything..hahaha
Thank you so much, guys! Jumi is an incredible editor 😄
Awesome introduction Jumi 🌟 Unforgettable evening spotting crocodiles snd flyflies ahahah I thought that you were taking a picture, you got me 😁😁 oh nasi dagang, ikan patin so much good food and to finish it off a mango cheesecake boom
Thank you so much, guys!
😂gotcha! Glad we all got to experience the river cruise together and got to hang out a bunch while we were in Kuantan. Definitely made our time there even more special
That's a giant Durian. Never met anyone as happy about Durian as Greg. Totally an acquired taste.
Malaysia turned me into a durian lover! Been enjoying it in so many forms
thank you for promoting malaysia food and dishes to the world. hopefully many visitors around the world will come to malaysia to enjoy Malaysian food
muhammad abdul wahab It is our pleasure! Malaysia deserves much more exposure around the world.
ow there's durian in tempoyak? so interesting to have durian usually for sweets but instead used in a savory dish, agree! genius concept!
Yup! Absolutely incredible idea and tastes out of this world. You would love it!
Oh mannn, you guys started with a bang on the first spot.
What a nice spread of seafood dishes.
I am so jealous 😍
Oh yes! We were so excited for seafood being back on the coast
I didn't skip the ads for u guys cause the effort in the video is A+. Jumi editing skills is amazing. It must be so tiring travelling and editing. Give her a good massage Greg.
That means a lot to hear - thank you! Jumi’s editing skills are definitely top notch. There is a lot that goes into each video with the research, planning, filming and editing. And we also like to balance out with down time to avoid burnout. Been nice to take things slower and get to experience each place for longer.
Greg's way of describing food deserves to be on TV and I'm serious! You guys are incredible! NYC misses you!
Thank you very much, guys! We miss NYC too and hope you two are doing well
@@FoodandFootprints Thank you! Check our vlog at the Edge, you need to visit that when you come back!
Jumi's voiceovers are so soothing/peaceful.
Thanks, Jon! They definitely are
Thanks Greg, Jumi. U guys have shown to d world what a wonderful city Kuantan is.
Our pleasure! Exactly what we wanted to do
@@FoodandFootprints That's very kind of u. D capitals in d east coast r totally underrated by foreign tourists. Kuantan used to be a destination for tourists.
Waiting for ur video in JB. Hope to meet you guys in JB
Thank you! Hopefully we can - just been busy the past few days
Love your channel, you guys actually transport your viewers with your long takes and description of the food. I'm dying for something curry right now...or lemongrass soup.
Thank you very much! So glad you are enjoying our channel. Really like to describe the food in detail. Enjoy your channel too because it transports us back to NYC and makes us miss all the great pizza.
If you are in Queens, drop by Little House Cafe in Elmhurst and get their curry mee. Lots of curry and lemongrass flavor in it and perfect for the cold weather. We reviewed it in our NYC Malaysian food video if you wanna get a look at it. They have lots of other great dishes in an unassuming little cafe
Wowww wooowwww and just wow absolutely yummiousss, two thumbs up nice sharing loved it your new friend here stay connected dear
Aw so nice to see some of the other adventures you guys had besides eating! Looks like such a fun time :)
It was! Really enjoyed that night
You guys are awesome. Thank you for the videos.
Thank you very much! We appreciate your support
Wow those a huge pieces of durian. Greg is happy ☺️☺️☺️
Very! And bathing in the coconut milk and palm sugar 😋
That river cruise looks so fun. Really cool you were able to go with other RUclips friends. Collabing with other creators is one of my favorite thing to do. That sunset looks so nice. But hell no to that crocodile. One of my recurring dreams, and the crocodile is the one that always wins.
It was so cool that we all ended up in the same city at the same time! We didn’t plan on it either. Had some great times together during our week there. 😂😂😂 crocodiles haunting your dreams
Love this video...
Thank you very much! Happy you enjoyed it
Kudos on trying the legit patin tempoyak and pais 👍😆
Thank you! We read MABIQ was the spot to get it. Had to wait a few days since they were closed, but so worth the wait
Mango cheesecake at Kula Cakes is one of my favourite and the best in town. Maybe you also can try Puding Diraja/ Royal Dessert which was specially served to the Royalties of Pahang.Do check out Nasi Kerabu Mekla on your next foodie trip too😍
Thanks for the tips! We read about the royal pudding but didn't get a chance to try it. We LOVE nasi kerabu
Damn 7 pieces! Love places that don't skimp on their skewers/kebabs and leave you feeling satisfied. Delicious looking fried prawn for sure.
We were shocked to see so many prawns on one skewer like that! These were amazing
Great intro guys! Loving them drone shots!
Thanks a lot! Really wanted to show Kuantan from above
In my hometown "Chiang Mai" also have a dish similar to otak-otak, it's fish meat with chili paste in the leaves, actually in banana leaves 😍🤤
I'm not a big fan of durian much haha 🤣 but the mango cheesecake looks so yummy! that I love it 😁
Ohh is that hor mok? If so, we LOVE it! We ate it a bunch at this Thai restaurant in NYC and even put it in one of our videos on Thai food in NYC.
Can imagine a mango cheesecake in Thailand would be great too with the amazing mangoes you have there
@@FoodandFootprints Yesssss It is Hor Mok! Super tasty right hehe🤤 and mango here is so sweet and not expensive at all 😋
Wow love the editing music sounds vibes from the river cruise footage
Thanks a lot!
Thank you for sharing, have a nice day.. Stay safe
Thanks, you too!
Amazing intro!! Kind of sum what to expect to the whole video!! Wow
Thanks a lot! Glad you liked it. Always try to make the intros pop
Wow looks so tempting dear very nice vlog keep rocking stay connected & keep visiting 🤗🤗🥰🤗🥰
1st. Your sub from spore!
🥇🥇🥇 thank you!
👏👏Really waiting for this vid. Finally, the final version of the epic crocodile hunting trip!
MABIQ was the place I saw both of you. I probably arrived there after you finished recording.
I like the cups used at Teng Haw. Looks super retro from end of 70's.
izam dotcom Thank you! Wish we could’ve met at MABIQ - good chance it was after we finishes filming, especially if we were really feasting 😂 What a great restaurant!
Love the old school feel at Teng Haw
That crunchy prawn skewers looks legit and like the fried sprinkles, we had it last week but with the fried chicken instead hehe
They were! Some of the best we’ve had in Malaysia
Your video more like story telling. Nice..
Thank you! Glad you noticed that
Ikan patin! Yummm.
Reminds us of ikan patin we had in Kalimantan from our Indonesia video.
Whattt, with tempoyak as well 😍
I would love to try that 🤤
Oh yeah that's right! Remember when you went to Kalimantan and had ikan patin now that you mention it. You guys MUST try it with the tempoyak- sooo good!
Wow a lot of yummy foods in Kuantan guys !! Will definitely put this city on my bucket list.
You should! We enjoyed our time in Kuantan
Brushed with fermented durian did you say! Whaaat 😱 mindblown
It is a mind blowing dish! Seriously couldn't get enough
D cendol dessert with pulut n durian looks incredibly delicious. Yummy.
So refreshing on a hot day!
The food wrapped up in banana leaves looked really good. Baby Rosalie actually loves fried squid. She takes out the breading and eats squid inside. I have heard this from you guys before, but are you sure you can eat the shell as long as it is fried. That is life changing.
When it is fried well enough you can! Love the banana leaf wrapped dishes - always a treat. Awesome that Baby Rosalie loves fried squid already! She’s got good taste
That mango cheesecake!!!! Looks so good!!!
It was tasty - we are mango lovers!
Gaint durian inside cendol dessert!!! Freaking insane way to end the night!!!! Perfect!
Oh yeah! That was a nice generous portion of durian
beautiful scenery with delicious food, yummy
Yup! Kuantan has a nice mix of that, plus beaches not far away
A new fan here from Singapore! Love your videos! I watched them while doing laundry, cooking, on my way to work and especially late night when I get hungry all e time but too lazy to get food. Hence watching all these is suffice! Hehehe. Keep making "delicious " videos please. Thank u
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoy our videos
Lovely
Thank you very much, Pradeep!
Those intros you guys have been doing has been pretty epic. Great job on the narration Jumi. Really sets up what we are about to see. We love seafood also, can't wait to see what Kuantan has.
Thanks a lot! Jumi is on 🔥🔥 with the narration. Loved the seafood in Kuantan
That sticky rice with glutunous milk, reminds me of suman.. those fried prawns look huge.. definitely crispy!
Definitely see what you mean. The fried prawns were incredible!
Oh yeah gotta love the kopitiam visit in Malaysia. Love your combo of a cuppa and curry mee.
Love a spicy curry me! 😍🤤
Yes! We love classic kopitiams in Malaysia
This finger eating 😀 definitely your brand. The fried prawns 😍
Haha especially here in Malaysia. The fried prawns were so good!
I love how diplomatic you two are about the cheesecake
Had to keep it real
Nice night cruise spotting 🐊🐊!
So much fun!
Paksu means Young Uncle where Pak=Father (short for bapak) or Uncle or Sir depending on usage. Su=is short for bongsu which means the youngest in the family. So paksu means the youngest uncle. Whereas maksu means youngest auntie of that family. Its is an endearing term for our elders depending on where in the family rank they are. So you would have paklong...pakngah....paksu. meaning eldest uncle.....middle uncle and youngest uncle. So it is also for maklong...makngah and maksu.
Jango Fett That is very good to know - thank you for sharing!
Yes the rainy days are perfect for a curry plate
Yup, soups especially
Salai masak lemak 🤤🤤 not sure if we tried that. But sounds like an absolute winner! ;)
You guys have to try it next time! Absolutely incredible
I have been to Itik Salai Masthar. I prefer Aunty Aini's Garden Cafe for daging salai masak lemak. She really masters the number one Negeri Sembilan dish.
👍👍 Super sedap.
Nice video.
Thanks a lot!
All d food u guys experienced in Kuantan r simply tantalizing. D Malay food in this video is my fav.
Yes! We enjoyed the Malay food here very much
Kumusta! 😃
All the mouth watering dishes that you both ate are my favourites!!
😋😋I love seafood and otak otak.
Love how you describe the food with head shaking, eyes rolling🤣🤣great video 👍👍
Thank you very much, Kellie! We are seafood lovers and were so happy to be able to eat a lot of it again in Kuantan. Haha the food was that good!
Glad that you added in the clip of the boat tour. It gave me a break from my mouth watering while watching you guys eat 🤣🤣🤣
It worked out nicely haha

Thank you! You should try these places out for sure.
Your video was great! We actually went to a bunch of the places you highlighted like Akob, Alif and Satay Zul. Also went to Ana Ikan Bakar Petai in Bangi. We tried to see what was out there and film some places that weren't so heavily covered before.

The fish gravy with rice..very different looking dish..loving the fried prawns where everything is edible
The fried prawns were crazy good!
Awwwh the pulut panggang and otak otak! Salivating here in KL!! All those crispy seafood fritters, I could binge eat it and watch Netflix with beer haha!
Puri and Sue Haha now that sounds like a plan!
Kula Cake's mango cheesecake originate from their restaurant Lila Wadi. It's a place famous for it's tom yam steamboat and mango cheesecake. Back then when Kula haven't started, the cheesecake actually tasted richer. Now it's mass produced to meet the demand and I am quite sure they had changed the type/brand of cheese they used. It just taste different. Still good but not the same. As usual, when things were commercialized... it changed. I didn't go there for years after I realized it tasted different, it's still popular though.
Oh yes we heard about how it came from Lila Wadi restaurant. Sad to hear that it doesn't taste as rich as it once did. That can be the downside of when places get very popular sometimes
Seafood spread looks delicious 😋 the squid batter looks so crunchy
So crispy!
The Kuantan River Cruise is so awesome! You guys got to see crocodiles and fireflies too 😍
And ended with another feast!
I spotted some pandan chiffon cake 😍🤤
Such a fun time! And yes you are right- there was pandan chiffon cake. Also orange chiffon cake
Oooo love the classic dry noodles and rich curry at the side. Always good to add more of that sambal into the broth!
Puri and Sue Oh yes! Nice comforting bowl
Melissa would keep up wit you guys on the Spicy, I'm just as brave. Never had silver catfish before. Learning so much new foods from you guys.

Think you guys will really enjoy it, especially on a hot day
Dang Mabiq2 is the spot!! I am loving that catfish!! This is fire
It is! We LOVED the food here. Ikan patin is the best catfish we've ever had
Wow, my hometown, my feveret manggo cheese cake n satah 😍...all of food is are delicious n make me hungry..

That rich looking broth with the Curry mee. I've been craving something similar all week. Now I found what I want for my lunch break haha
