Great video! Made a quasi daunting job a relative breeze. When picking up the parts my dealer Kyle told me about the “shop vac trick” to decrease the hydraulic fluid leak during the filter change. Had my son hold the shop vac over the input hole and likely lost less than 100 mls while swapping out the filters. Have no idea how much I would have lost otherwise. Thanks again!
Thanks Mark. Shooting the video was the hardest part...the actual service was pretty easy! Well, except when I almost screwed the pooch on the whole "filter mixup" thing! 😉👍😎
Good evening Sir, I'm very so sorry that I did not subscribe sooner to your channel 😢 OUTSTANDING Video and great sence of humor that you have 👌👍😇 Keep warm and enjoy the St Valentin week end with your loves one mon ami Cheers 🍻👍👌
Thanks for the kind words Dave, but certainly NO apologies are necessary. In fact, your comment made me realize that I was not subscribed to your channel, which I thought I had done long ago. 😳🤦♂️ That is now corrected! Hope you and yours have a great weekend as well!
TIP. When changing the HST and SUCTION filters use a shop vac. to draw a vacuum on the HYD oil reservoir at the fill hole. You will not loose hardly any oil. I tried this on my B2650HSDC. It works ! To be honest I saw this on another You Tube channel.
@@watershedoverlook You don't need a super tight seal but you want enough of a seal to pull the HYD oil back into the reservoir instead of it going into the drain pan. You really need two people. One to use the shop vac. and one to replace the filter is the easiest way.
I had to stop and think for a moment what the opening line was! (It's not like I've stared at this footage repeatedly for over a week or anything! 🤦♂️🙄😉)
Job "Well Done"! Got 22.2 hours on my LX2610, so the day is slowly coming! And I agree....if it's time to only change the filter, the oil is going to be "spanking new" too!
@Watershed Overlook ...I'm in the process of finishing our new house in the country....getting out of this insane City Life. The LX has been parked in my garage for the last 5 months, ready to get with the program in planting/farming winegrapes! We might even get a little dirty!
great video. if you block the hydro vent by the filler cap you minimize hydro fluid loss. I only lost about 1qt . I also did the loader inspection, most biolts were not torqued to spec and I'm missing one.
Missing a bolt...yikes! Mine were all actually pretty good. After all the horror stories I've heard, I'm pretty sure my dealer went over them pre-delivery. I didn't have any wheel lugs or loader bolts that seemed loose at all. I'm calling that a win!!! Thanks for watching Bob. 👍😎👍
Chris nicely done bud, you look a lot warmer than I was for my 400 hour video on the BX. Much better lighting and angles. Good point with the order of things, I agree with you. 👍🏝🍻🔥🌴 You need a creeper.
Nice video for this service. I did mine a few months ago. Asked my wife to help with the shop vac to minimize hydraulic fluid loss when replacing the suction filter. While that worked great, my corrugated shop vac hose is still seeping hydraulic fluid lol.
Lol...That's good to know. I've heard a lot of folks talk about the shop vac option but that's something I hadn't even considered. Probably no worse than some of the other muck I've sucked up into the thing, but definitely a factor to consider! Thanks for watching! 👍😎
Morning Chris! Excellent detailed instruction. Yup, got to watch those two hydraulic filters. LOL. Thanks for all the detailed filming and editing. Have a nice weekend!
Many thanks Gordon. I knew which filter was which sitting on the workbench, but clearly I wasn't paying close enough attention to the diagrams about where each one went on the tractor. Total rookie mistake. Have a great weekend up north (playing in the snow?) FYI...It's 70°F here today (Fri), snow forecast for Sunday. Typical February weather here in Virginia!
Thanks Chris, good refresher - I too had 60+ on mine before doing the dirty deed, another piece of info mine is the Cab model with Deck Mower, kinda tight down there : (
Great video Chris, really like the owners manual pictures in the video👍 I have been sending mine to the dealer for services, life without a shop in the arctic 🥶 🤣
Nice video Chris!! When I changed my oil I added the oil to the motor to the oil port on the top of the motor. In your video I seen where you added the oil to the lower oil fill cap. Does the service manual mention which oil port to put the oil into?
Thanks for watching, and that's a great question Matt...I'll have to check! I helped a friend change their oil a few weeks before and I just did what he did! Hmmm...🤔👍😎
It looks like your brake pedal grease zerk fitting didn’t accept grease, might be clogged. Also the FEL requires grease labeled EP (extreme pressure, also it needs to contain at least 3% moly. EP moly grease is almost always black, looked like you used a poly lithium grease.
You are absolutely correct. I realized when I reviewed the footage that I hadn't gotten grease into the brake zerk and did go back and address that. I was completely unaware of the EP grease though...I will definitely investigate that further. Thanks for watching and the great comment! 👍😎
@@watershedoverlook Schaeffers 274 is a high quality Moly EP grease that meets CAT equipment standards. Since you are using lube shuttle they make something similar.
Very good video Chris, similar 50 hour service as the B series tractors. I do the same as you, drain the oil first the oil filter. I guess we are the rule breakers. Lol Keep up the great work. Take care and all the best.
Really nice work here Chris, Service videos can really be a pain to film and i think you nailed this one. Great use of adding the steps from the service manual. Excellent use of the chain for the loader!
John, you are correct. The manual indicates that you should hand tighten the filter until it contacts the block, then tighten it an additional 1/2 turn. That is pretty much what I did, albeit with the wrench since my hands were pretty oily. I did probably over-tighten, but not significantly. Perhaps it will come back to haunt me, but in all my 60 years it hasn't happened yet. 😉😄 Thanks for watching and for the great comment. 👍😎

Wonderful video. I have several Kubota products and while I believe they are top notch, their manuals are not the most clearly written and in some cases are wrong. I guess it could be a translation issue but the are disappointing in some regards. Also actual photographs of the area would be better that illustrations. It’s easy to get disoriented on front/back, left/right on the machine as you did with the hydraulic/HST filters. My diesel zero turn and my X1120RTV have different colored filters to eliminate that issue but the tractors like my L3830 are both white. Your a very detail oriented guy, which is great, are you a pilot or in the military? Keep up the good work
Thanks for watching Steve and for the kind words. As someone who has worked for years in graphic communications I find it very easy to pick apart product documentation. In the case of my Kubota manuals I am quite annoyed that they didn't predict all my questions and searches in advance! OK, not really, but I did find a few spots where I think a bit more annotation or cross-referencing might have been beneficial. Honestly, I think my REAL issue was just trying to do two things at once--that is perform the service and stage/light/film it at the same time. (I'm not a great multitasker. 😉) You are correct though, I can get pretty detail-oriented (some might say super anal-retentive 🙄) and I am a private pilot, although I have not been current in a long time. I was never in the military but I am the proud son of a USAF fighter pilot (F-86 Sabre jets) and the proud father of an active duty airman who gets to fly in everything from B-52s to F-15s as an Airborne Combat Photojournalist with the 1st Combat Camera Squadron. Thanks again...👍😎✈
That's a good question. I suppose if you were changing the hydraulic/trans fluid compressing all the cylinders would theoretically allow you to drain more of the older fluid but that's just a guess. I just reviewed the manual for the tractor and for the loader and didn't find that included in the procedure, but I would be inclined to trust the experience of trained service pros. I'll ask around and if I can find anything I'll reply here again. Just to be clear, you were talking about the tractor service and not greasing the loader, correct? (FYI, nothing about compressing the cylinders while greasing in the manual either! 😉)
