I’m personally very excited for this. i think too many silent hill fans nowadays are negative about the series, i understand why considering the mishandling of the most recent silent hill games, but it feels like some of them just *want* the series to fail. and a lot of people are complaining about things that make me even question if they played the original games at all.
Yeah, a lot of the fans who have played the OG have been roasting the remake for its combat. I’m like “bro the combat in OG kinda sucked. If I had to make a list of my top 20 things I love about the OG, combat wouldn’t even make the list.”
i still 100% believe Silent Hill 2's remake will be awesome AF in fact i've believed that strongly in it since the teaser trailer and i know that playing it and replaying it will take up 90% of my october with the other 10% of this october being used for Life Is Strange Double Exposure and i'm sure i'll be constantly replaying both games for the rest of 2024 as well since those are the top 2 games i've looked forward to over all other releases this year (the most recent SH2 trailer basically confirmed for me that this remake will at some point be added to my list of games that i have put 1000 hours or more into) at the very least it will for sure replace Silent Hill 3 as my second favorite Silent Hill game but there is a decent chance it could even replace the original Silent Hill 2 as my top favorite Silent Hill game depending on how much i get lost enjoying the highly detailed Silent Hill 2 environments and their vibes (in other words if i end up enjoying the highly detailed environments and their vibes even more than i already know i'm going to then i'll have to change my top favorite to the remake) i really hope they do DLC for the remake where we can play as the other characters in SH2 and see the town as they see it (i bet eddie sees dog monsters and monsters with designs that represent bullies) but what i hope for even more is for the same team to do a Silent Hill 3 remake in the future

I'm excited. Everyone wants to complain but I'd rather this than anything else that was announced. Also the number 1 complain I see is about Angela not being "bangable" when she's a 19 yr old whose suffered ab*se from her father, she's not supposed to be sexy.
i think it'll be at the very least a GOOD game, i think a lot of the criticism is very unwarranted (angela looking "too fat" even though shes literally modeled after her VA) and im very pleased and surprised to hear that they changed the intro scene completely after the negative feedback
You think devs don't tweak the models they scan? A single look at her model and the in-game version literally gives it away how they tweaked her features for the worst. Smaller lips, thicker brows... etc. A current gen game, especially a remake is suppose to blow people away with improvements across the board. Not spawn defensive lukewarm reactions or warranted criticism towards the quality and design. I mean, you know it's fcking bad deep down if you have to be defensive about it everytime the remake comes up.
I really believe it will do as well as Resident Evil 2 Remake did and that game was fire. It looks and sounds really good so we just have to make sure it plays well on launch. I am really looking forward and wish people would chill out with complaints its getting so old. The game actually looks great.
I'd say I'm cautiously optimistic towards the remake. There's a lot that looks good, but there's also a few things that really worry me - Bruce Campbell as Angela being one of them.
The shots of her face in other scenes look WAY better. I really think it was just bad camera placement or maybe old model for her. Look at her face in the dev diary, looks amazing

I'm feeling cautiously optimistic after that gameplay showcase a little while back. The alterations to Angela alone have me concerned about Bloober Team's sensibilities when it comes to preserving what made the original game such a powerful experience. Angela in the original game was pale and gaunt to the point of looking malnourished -- something that fit her character's disturbing backstory perfectly. This new Angela looks like a college student with a gland disorder who stepped off campus and took a day trip to Silent Hill. If they managed to get that so wrong, what else might they have gotten wrong? Hopefully nothing of consequence; but like I said, I'm concerned.

If Im being honest angelas face is about the ONLY thing I saw that look eh but even then in aome shots she looks REALLY good so maybe that was an old build. Since Konami likes to use outdated footage...
Good point. Now that I read this, Konami probably got the footage for the showcase weeks or even months before it aired. Someone needed to cut it, edit it, make sure it plays correctly. Bloober most likely polished the game up since then.
METAL GEAR SOLID has more love because it's the best IP than SILENT HILL. I wish both games had a quality care of development but when it comes down to the wire, MGS simply prints money.
I’m disappointed by some things like the animations and Angela’s character model but it will probably be enjoyable. Id prefer the remake resembling more of the original game but I’m open to having a different experience and see if it’s still good. I like the modern horror direction and the 3rd person pov.
@@javonjames4573 agreed, it was mostly the writing, concepts, and innovations at the time that made it stand out. I think a lot of people who love the game nowadays just want to experience it in a more aesthetically pleasing medium. I on the other hand have no problem saying goodbye to rank controls, cgi from the 00’s, and some of the voice acting. (Ik why the voice acting worked in the original but there are still parts of the game where it breaks the immersion for me. I still appreciate the high points. )

I understand the original trailer was pre-rendered but there are aspects of their marketing that, at least for me, is very misleading and unfaithful. I was hoping for more modern animation and production not like resident evil but comparable to resident evil.
I feel fine about it. I haven't joined the hate band wagon for the game and will take my time with it, enjoy it just like i do with the rest of the games i own. I'll speak my thoughts on whether or not i think the game is good when i beat it. But as for all of the extra drama going on? I'm leaving myself out of it.

I hope the remake succeeds, they succeed and we will get more remakes in the future. And if it does fail, well then life goes on and I will keep replaying the original for as long as I can.

Honestly I feel it will be decent. sure it may miss the subtly & symbolism etc here and there, however for the most part I believe the end product will entertain me enough. Remember no one is taking away the original & just like Resident Evil remakes, really it’s an alternative, modern take.
I absolutely can’t stand Konami. Not to mention anything released by them lately is absolute trash. However, I’m gonna play the remake for one sole reason. The original games actual gameplay wasn’t good to begin with. What made the game great was the setting and the story itself, and if it’s one thing that the remakes are getting right, it’s the graphics. Konami’s studios are incapable of being original, which is why I’m kind of looking forward to SH2. They’re definitely not going to change the story. Whereas snake eater, not gonna touch that thing with a 50 yard pole. Snake eater was a great game all around. Just giving snake eater a facelift isn’t going to cut it. All SH2 needs is a facelift and modern voice acting.
I understand people have nostalgia but honestly for myself who hasn’t played silent hill 2 How is a game made for a PS2 going to be better than made for a PS5 surely the visuals and gameplay are going to be massively outdated? Can they really make it that bad? Or make it look worse than the original game
It’s not about the visuals and the gameplay so much as it’s about the story and characters a lot of people are worried about. Updating it the way they are have people worried Bloober Team will mishandle these elements when adapting the source material to this new version
I'm curious to see what the first time SH2 players will have to say about the remake. I as a SH2 "veteran" will have a very different experience since I know the original game inside out.
Who gives a flying f.. about graphics? Or tank controls? The original game is the yardstick *all* survival/psychological horror games are measured up against. And not a single game has ever surpassed it. *That* is the point.
I definitely want it to succeed. I would like Silent Hill to come back and remain. Not fade back into obscurity.

I’m personally excited that it’s not exactly a 1 to 1 remake. I already have SH2 on my shelf. I don’t need to pay $70 to play it again.

Silent Hill is for a very specific player. Metal Gear has it all. Action, story, shooting. It’s pretty inviting to all types of gamers.

I’m waiting to here the general opinion when it comes out, honestly I’m not hopeful after finding out about hit detection.
Regarding SIlent Hill 2 and MGS, MGS3 had a relatively modern gameplay, SH2 gameplay was and is janky af. So SH2 is the one that needs more change.
