Hundreds of animated character duplicated within minute using Blender

I have used "dupliverts " of Blender to duplicate these animated character. Its often over looked but great feature of Blender. You can make like Army of soldiers, bunch of fruits , leaves etc.

Could you make the animations staggered? Where they are doing the same animation, but not all together synchronized.

IMHO is not an overlooked feature, is just that being as it is it's not too useful, precisely because there cannot be any tim shift between the animation, which render this in something useless in the majority of the situations
