- To animate a dialogue shot, I work in 3 stages. I also start by blocking 3 mouth controls, but there's a difference. This is my lipsync animation workflow!

What other animation demos would YOU like to see me animate live on Twitch, or a workflow breakdown / tips like this here on RUclips? :)
We need more videos with Luna!
And about sound changing too~!
Thank you!
Hmmm how about some wacky walks?
It would be great if you made a Video on How to get started with Facial Animation. If someone's completely new to it.
The little girl's voice was like a brick in the face. I wasn't expecting that.
Yeah, I don't want that
We don’t want that
"I never asked for this"
I love it lol
Yeah, I didn’t want that
Luna is probably the hardest working animation supervisor I have seen yet. 10/10 would give a raise
The beautifull thing about this type of your videos is that even using other software like blender those tips are still completely valid and on point. I loved the video with JP Sans by the way, is one of my favourite. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge
Starting watching this video to improve lip syncing, but thanks to 7:32 and some searching, I finally understand how double tonguing works with wind instruments.
TheDuckCow!! :0
@@moonlightblue9196 hiya!
@@TheDuckCow he man, I'm fan, your vids are amazing!
Thanks, this really helped. I normally do 2d animation so I had to do it a little different but it worked. :)
I mainly do that too what did you change for it I'm curious
I was AMAZED at the amount of useful & probabaly critical important 'must do' steps and foundations jammed packed in this 17 minute tutorial!....using it all on my first animated dialogue shot on my reel......much thanks Sir Wade.
Not gonna lie, the mario sound when your cat jumped made me hit the subscribe button immediately
You may have also heard it at AM or DW, but you probably heard the "best lip sync" thing first in my class; I make a point of showing a Muppet clip when we talk about lip synch ;)
You know what, that’s probably where it came from!!! Thank you for that example then; the info stuck with me even if the source didn’t haha 😅
Really awesome tips, Sir! Lipsync is my favourite stage of animation. Sculpting the asymmetry in the mouth is so fun, it really does add that extra flare to your shots :)
you guys are awesome....
I am learning 2d Animation but your explanation of 3d movements helps me a lot,
Ex- nose should contract with the lip movements, chicks also reacted and so the ears and so on.
Thanks sir, I have no words now to express my happiness.
Thank you!! I'm currently doing a lip sync project and this helped me so much
This is very fitting - I was just working on my first lip sync assignment for class :D thanks for the great tips as usual!
We need more videos like this sir
The cat omg so fluffy nd cute!! I's been a while since i don't take the time of seeing your videos or any of animations because of burn out, i just didn't want to know anything mre than the job.. but it feels so good to get back at it and see your videos, it keeps me motivated to keep going!
My dilemma with lip syncing is that I work with anime style characters, and in a lot of anime styles the jaw doesn't move, so I'm not sure if I should move it or not.
maybe you can move it but only a little bit, it would be enough for it to not look jarring but not enough that it actually sticks out to people that the jaw’s moving
sounds like its up to you! do whatever you think looks good. even though anime characters dont really move their jaws, that doesnt mean u cant do it yourself! You can use that as something to set yourself apart from other anime styles. or maybe only move the jaw when the character isnt facing the audience or when they are in profile. its all up to you c:
I'm watching your tutorials in tandem with my animation classes w/ Jason Reisig @ usc! You're my #1 go to for awesome tips and tricks! Thanks so much for putting out this awesome content.
4:23 this is one of the best tips I've ever heard, thank you for what you do!
Awesome
This is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!
WHAT?! Only 100.000 subs? Jesus I expected like half a million
thanks a lot man, just got a Freelance project has lip sync. One character speak as normal speed so It is ok. But the second character talks super fast, so after I playbast it he turns to a jaw poping machine XDXDXD which freaks me out. Very good advice, they help a lot.
Loved the examples!! hahah . Been there in my initial steps of animation. And i may not be the best in some stuff of body mechanics, I think i feel better at lipsync and facial animation. And what a better way to show the errors than what you just did!
Thanks for the help, m8.
Going from warcraft model viewer to blender was an insane leap to take lol... so much to learn!!
In my arrogance i thought i would be out there making my blender movie in like a week... Hah yeah about that.
Good thing i enjoy making stories lol.
Watching this, I had to go back and look at my first lip sync animation... Its not.... horrible, but definitely could use some of the tips here!
Man you teach animating like no one else
Keep it on 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Definitely need to try that on Akeytsu. Thank you for the great tips !
I'm citing you from this video in my bachelor's thesis. :D i have no clue how long it takes to make face animations by hand (blocking as you said), and i don't have time to learn it properly atm, so i'm mentioning you spent 30 mins for 3 sec clip. :) btw. i can relate about over exaggerating talk anim, i feel like every letter should be seen from a mile away if someone speaks
Maybe I am wrong but why you didn't animate the 'w' of ' want ' the place of it completely shown empty.
2:11 that face is priceless
Loved i! there some stuff i was aware, but sometimes forget to apply them. But others that i wasn't aware of. Like givingi t that appealing shape to the mouth, i always only use like the basics if i'm in a tush, but thinking it about a cartoon makes me remember in a better way how to make the omuth more appealng! Thank you!
Hello sir, could you tell Luna I love her?
Also awesome video, doing my first lip syncing assignment and this is incredibly helpful!
Fantastic video. I like hearing about how you animate and good work flows. I am a somewhat new rigger and its very insightful hearing these things, keep up the good work
Thanks for a lot of good information. It reminded me to spend more time with facial expressions for characters in an animation I'm currently making.
Extraordinary as always !!!
oh yay I suggested this. excited to watch it.
This was EXTREMELY useful.
Could we get a informative video about blocking mouth shapes? I see these sheets with AH EE TH/V and i *sorta* understand what it means, but i dont know how to define what shape goes where with audio, i dontr know what timing i need, or how to even start with mouths to avoid posing every sound in the audio. Whats the most and least shapes i would need (not including single flap animations)
Thanks for the tips, I often find getting my characters to think to be the hardest.
I have never learned so deep as you teach us, thanks a lot Sir
thank youuuu 🌺👍
Thank you. Really I needed to watch this to start me rolling with the visemes on a character. I'm new to this and not very confident in what I'm doing but your video helped me out to ease my fears and actually do some work. Thank you again for sharing, and what a beautiful cat you own 😺Gonna sub for more tutorials and to see more cat.
I find the fastest way too create lipsync animations is too import your model into unity, use lipsync assets to create animations (lipsync pro gives best results) and then import the created animations into Maya and use it as a starting point. This has dramatically increased the efficiency of my workflow.
Super great stuff man!! This was so helpful!!
dude it looks so much better after ur amazing ngl
Is that... MYYY voice?? HAHA my favorite line
I read this at the same time that I heard it 😂😂😂
@@chinnchilli2842 brings a smile to my face every time xD
Awesome tips Sir!!!
thank you
Thanks for this video . this is very helpful
That was a lot of help! Thank you so much!
Liked and subscribed!! That was brilliant, thanks so much!
I apparently found your Twitch before finding this RUclips channel, lol.
"This name sounds familiar but I don't think I've seen this channel before. Hmm... oh wait"
Really good and clear video! thanks!
Hello Sir Wade. I have a question. Is it advisable to use automatic lip synch softwares, or should i go step by step as you have taught me in this video?😄
If you're trying to get a job in animation or make a professional project - do it manually :)
@@SirWade thank you very much!❤
Good job
You have inspired me a lot and I hope in the future I can be a 3D animator!
I had problem with this ...... And you magicly made a video 😂😂
I would have given a thumbs-up even for Luna alone...
Thank you so much for the videos and also your time. I've learned lots of useful lessons. Best channel ever, woohoo!
Thank you so much, sir! This will be helpful when I make my own lip sync animations. :)
5:48 am I the only one liking that lip sync animation, I find it kinda funny?
Great tips! Tank you so so much!
Thanks for the informative video! I will definitely refer back to this when I start to get into lip syncing. My only other thought is the music in the background was nice, but was just ever so slightly distracting due to being a little loud in the mix. (My personal taste). Still loved the tutorial! - Subscribed!
this is very good.. truly appreciate it
Thanks sir nice video
Hi .. first of all thanks for post this kind of videos, awesome!!. Second, Have you heard of a tip that it is good to hit the sound a frame or 2 before the audio? I remember that for a mentor but I am not sure if someone else is going for that.
Awesome video! Thanks for this.
Thank you for this very useful video!
If you're Nigerian like me, we say, "I don't want DAT!"
I read that as Norwegian....
Send help
😂
This information was very useful, thankyou .
Thank you for your help
This is great! Thanks!
Super detailed
Solute you Sir, by heart
g.. how do i like this video more then once? fantastic tips. thank you very much
thank you SirWade i learn a lot
I really like those advice thank you!!!
She deserve her own movie
amazing tips , thanks
What areas you're using to change your voice? I looked through your tool list on Amazon but didn't find anything. Thanks
Hey, thank you for the great video.
Now I have a reason more to work through the fundamentals.
You mentioned in a video about gifts for animators, that you can get Maya Educational. I am not learning at a school or something and during sign up I have to provide an institution.
Did something change or doesn‘t Autodesk check it?
I‘d really like to use the industry standard to learn and many of the models/rigs you show picked my intrest.
Keep up the work!
Great video! Almost spit out my coffee when you told us to speed up the video if you were boring us lmao
BEST BIT OF THE HOLE VIDEO 4:27
wow. you are a great teacher! I'm wondering why I ever went to university, if I could've just come here in the first place. :D Thank you so much!
great video ! thx a lot
This is great stuff
What touchscreen tablet monitor do you use?
Thanks a lot for the video. Hmmm oh I would like to see prop animations such as when a character is holding an Umbrella, sword ,yoyo, or even a kite ty
Sir can please make a video or tutorial on how to rig a face just like urs please it would help me on animate my own cartoon for now i m using blend about 6 months but the thing is that i dont know how to face rig like yours i tried watching many tutorial or videos on face rig seeing ur face rig is much better then any one else :)
Taking this into account when I start on a facial rig
Watching this made me realize 3d animation is harder than 2d animation
Not unless you use motion capture
I agree
Depends on your strengths
@@russellguinto2808 Motion capture still needs polishing
Thoughts on anime lip-sync? Is it objectively bad or does it work with the style. Personally I agree with the latter.
How much time it take you to learn this all. How many fails. I'm gonna do a animation short but I'm not better in mouth. You're awesome 👍🏻👍🏻🌟
hahhah the iny girl with that audio, so unexpected hahah
I like a lot of what you say, except for making the mouth act toward the camera. This is what makes the Overwatch movies insufferable - every single sentence ends with a dreamworks face. It's unnatural and takes me out of it. I also gather this results in character designs trending toward smooth, flat, uniform face shapes that lend to it. I notice those examples you showed of Grimmel has his mouth acting *away* from the camera, exposing the silhouettes and better utilizing the medium.
Hi Sir,
I am currently a student studying 3d animation and have been a fan of your channel. I wanted to know more about animating animals would you consider providing some ideas?
Amazing tutorial! what do you use for sound changing?
Having trouble understanding?
Use the videos captions! Im sure it will help...;)
your cat is very polite
Im new so hi :) i love ur cat
Cool
Can you safe animations in some kind of boxes? like A , e,i,o and so on . So u just animate the letters one time and when u need a letter u take it from the box? You know what i mean?
