The entire interview was set up because there would be a major pay day for them and Diane would get load of attention for the interview. At that time the narrative media was playing was Justin was the good guy and Britney was the cheating villain who isn't a virgin no more etc. The reason why is bcuz this was for money, it was generating the most revenue for media and other tabloids. Even JT's label Jive knew this as well, they used the breakup and that narrative to promote his album. At the end of the day it was all about money. Its funny to me that people still believe that narrative today. In reality jt and Britney were all pawns in their game. However, Jt full well knew how he was promoting his album and he used what the media was doing to his advantage ( for years! I lived in europe when that interview came out, so I only saw snippets, but I remember being very disturbed and uncomfortable with what I did see. I'm 3 years younger than Britney, and I just felt so much for her. When my mother, who generally held no opinion on people she did not know, found the harassment of britney in that interview to be extremely distasteful.
I was a teenager at the time that interview aired, and I actually hated it. I watched it the moment it came on, and I was appalled at how judgmental Diane Sawyer was towards Britney. The way she made her cry….she had no empathy for her. It was gross, and I remember feeling like I was the only one who felt that way at the time. I never liked Diane Sawyer after that. Every time I see her, I remember that interview, and it gives me a bad taste in my mouth.

I just watched the interview, I had to stop because it was such a blatant bullying session and the disrespect was out of this world. I have no idea how this interview hasn’t blown up in Diane’s face yet but - I’m SO GLAD that Britany is speaking up about it now. But the 90s and early 2000s were such a different time, female celebrities were constantly being degraded, put down, no one believed any victims back then- it was always seen as they just wanted money. The interview with Diane Sawyer is so upsetting to watch when she says “strong Britney” and hold back tears it takes me back to my waitressing days when I’d have horrible customer say something demeaning and I had to keep a smile on my face then going to the back and just crying. Britney’s situation was 1000% worse than I could have ever imagined. My heart is broken for her that her family did this to her and I wish her healing and happiness. Very well spoken? Nothing against her, but I was thinking the complete opposite. She rambles, it reminds me of a young teenager. It’s sad honestly, her childhood, teen hood, AND adulthood was all stolen from her. She never got the chance to grow up and become a real adult. Mentally she has a very childhood/teenage hint to her. Again, I’m not trying to put her down, but I think it’s very obvious she was stunted a bit mentally due to all the abuse she went through. Not saying she’s not intelligent, I think she is. @@stev6963 I did this a lot when I left the Jehovah's Witnesses at the age of 20. I'm 28 now. At first when you get out of something controlling and finally feel free, you want to use your voice sooo badly. One of the rules of being in the cult is that you can't say anything negative about it and as an adolescent, my parents enforced the rules of the cult before their own because they believe it's divine and all that, whatever lol. When I was finally on my own and could leave, I would overshare on social media too because suddenly I had sources of validation that were closer to me. One of the symptoms of trauma is oversharing. I recognize that pressured sort of writing where you're all over the place because you've been through so much that nobody knows about. She's just trying to soothe her wounds. I hope she has a really nice team of people around her to help her through such a vulnerable time.

I swear teens that get their phone back act like they’re going through a spiritual awakening lol. I've watched the Diane Sawyer interview a few times over the years, and every time it made my blood boil. I've always found myself getting super angry when Diane desperately dug deep to open up loads of wounds on a young girl who was at a very vulnerable stage of her life, and she took advantage of that, breaking her down for ratings. Absolutely despicable. I'm glad Diane is getting some blowback from the situation. She got her moment and made her money off the back of a vulnerable young girl who was at one of her lowest points in front of the entire world.

This post is so indicative of just how lonely she was. She didn’t have anyone but a very very limited amount of people to talk to about ANYTHING and I’m sure the majority were gaslighting her deeply. She had all these things she wanted to share with her fans but her management restricted her…. I’m concerned only because once you are freed from an extremely restrictive environment it isn’t uncommon for someone to explore their freedom to extreme extents, so I hope she stays safe and healthy.
I am struggling with this video. If Britney took it down, she must have had a reason. What if she truly just changed her mind and these types of videos just continue to expose her. And while I do not think she is "crazy", she definitely has a lot of work to do to unpack all that has been done to her and find her way to who she is now; a 40 year old woman and a survivor with freedom. None of us know where she will "land" but she is not a 20 year old naive girl anymore and will never be that again. She’s traumatized because she suffered a great amount of abuse. That generally affects your self-expression and talking publicly about things you haven’t been allowed to talk about for 13+ years, let alone out on social media. Needless to say, it’s a lot for her right now. It’ll be a while before she feels more comfortable and calm after letting everything out, no matter how it looks to people right now or what order it all comes out in.

I have agoraphobia and don't leave my house for anything or have any friends, and I think this kind of isolation long term creates this very naive, little girl innocent type personality. I can translate what she meant by too much. Her team is very much responsible to contributing to her downfall and conservatorship.
Diane Sawyer makes me even more angry, now that i know Britney was in that vulnerable state already. Diane must have known and took advantage of the entire situation. The entire interview was set up because there would be a major pay day for them and Diane would get load of attention for the interview. At that time the narrative media was playing was Justin was the good guy and Britney was the cheating villain who isn't a virgin no more etc. The reason why is bcuz this was for money, it was generating the most revenue for media and other tabloids. Even JT's label Jive knew this as well, they used the breakup and that narrative to promote his album. At the end of the day it was all about money. Its funny to me that people still believe that narrative today. In reality jt and Britney were all pawns in their game. However, Jt full well knew how he was promoting his album and he used what the media was doing to his advantage ( for years! For both his first n 2nd album) n again he used the media during the Janet Jackson situation when they were taking her down.

I lived in europe when that interview came out, so I only saw snippets, but I remember being very disturbed and uncomfortable with what I did see. I'm 3 years younger than Britney, and I just felt so much for her. When my mother, who generally held no opinion on people she did not know, found the harassment of britney in that interview to be extremely distasteful.

I was a teenager at the time that interview aired, and I actually hated it. I watched it the moment it came on, and I was appalled at how judgmental Diane Sawyer was towards Britney. The way she made her cry….she had no empathy for her. It was gross, and I remember feeling like I was the only one who felt that way at the time. I never liked Diane Sawyer after that. Every time I see her, I remember that interview, and it gives me a bad taste in my mouth.

I just watched the interview, I had to stop because it was such a blatant bullying session and the disrespect was out of this world. I have no idea how this interview hasn’t blown up in Diane’s face yet but - I’m SO GLAD that Britany is speaking up about it now. I definitely need to rewatch it and will after this video- its been 20 years since I saw it. But the 90s and early 2000s were such a different time, female celebrities were constantly being degraded, put down, no one believed any victims back then- it was always seen as they just wanted money. The interview with Diane Sawyer is so upsetting to watch when she says “strong Britney” and hold back tears it takes me back to my waitressing days when I’d have horrible customer say something demeaning and I had to keep a smile on my face then going to the back and just crying. Britney’s situation was 1000% worse than I could have ever imagined. My heart is broken for her that her family did this to her and I wish her healing and happiness. At first when you get out of something controlling and finally feel free, you want to use your voice sooo badly. One of the rules of being in the cult is that you can't say anything negative about it and as an adolescent, my parents enforced the rules of the cult before their own because they believe it's divine and all that, whatever lol. When I was finally on my own and could leave, I would overshare on social media too because suddenly I had sources of validation that were closer to me.
One of the symptoms of trauma is oversharing. I recognize that pressured sort of writing where you're all over the place because you've been through so much that nobody knows about. She's just trying to soothe her wounds. I hope she has a really nice team of people around her to help her through such a vulnerable time.

I swear teens that get their phone back act like they’re going through a spiritual awakening lol. I've watched the Diane Sawyer interview a few times over the years, and every time it made my blood boil. I've always found myself getting super angry when Diane desperately dug deep to open up loads of wounds on a young girl who was at a very vulnerable stage of her life, and she took advantage of that, breaking her down for ratings.
Absolutely despicable. I'm glad Diane is getting some blowback from the situation. She got her moment and made her money off the back of a vulnerable young girl who was at one of her lowest points in front of the entire world.

This post is so indicative of just how lonely she was. She didn’t have anyone but a very very limited amount of people to talk to about ANYTHING and I’m sure the majority were gaslighting her deeply. She had all these things she wanted to share with her fans but her management restricted her…. I’m concerned only because once you are freed from an extremely restrictive environment it isn’t uncommon for someone to explore their freedom to extreme extents, so I hope she stays safe and healthy.
I am struggling with this video. If Britney took it down, she must have had a reason. What if she truly just changed her mind and these types of videos just continue to expose her. And while I do not think she is "crazy", she definitely has a lot of work to do to unpack all that has been done to her and find her way to who she is now; a 40 year old woman and a survivor with freedom. None of us know where she will "land" but she is not a 20 year old naive girl anymore and will never be that again. Perhaps Sam is everything she acts like he is but I just can't help but wish she were with a much more mature and farther into his life/career than is possible for a young man in his 20s. She’s traumatized because she suffered a great amount of abuse. That generally affects your self-expression and talking publicly about things you haven’t been allowed to talk about for 13+ years, let alone out on social media. Needless to say, it’s a lot for her right now. It’ll be a while before she feels more comfortable and calm after letting everything out, no matter how it looks to people right now or what order it all comes out in.

Omg, I relate to Britney Spears so much. I never thought i'd be so friendable to somebody so esteemed. I have agoraphobia and don't leave my house for anything or have any friends, and I think this kind of isolation long term creates this very naive, little girl innocent type personality. It's sooo weird to see on such a famous woman, an authentic, innocent personality. Ugh i'm so proud of her, and I relate to how she talks and over reacts to little things sooo much... craziness. I can translate what she meant by too much. When your'e isolated for a long time, you overreact to small experiences, so she was 'too excited' i think and it was embarrassing, then she saw how people reacted strongly to it and called it too much. my guess, she's in her own world a little bit still but communicating with the other one. I mean is it really surprising? She was treated like a child & kept isolated for 13 years, I would act a little off too
She's optimistic but that doesn't make her child like. Most of us would have died in her situation, her positivity kept her going.

Out of my years being a Britney fan, till this day I still can’t get through even half of this interview. It fills me with so much rage. This is the exact representation of how blatantly abusive the media was (and, let’s be real, still is) towards Britney.

I understand how it is to not want to do anything, not want to get out of bed everyday and I think you are so amazing for working through those emotions to get your videos out! But rest and taking care of your mental health is also important so don’t stress too much 😘

I have never been a fan of Britney's but I am glad that she was able to get out from under the conservatorship and is able to live her life. I hope Brit goes on to tell more of her truth and flame the people the did her dirty in the worst way. She deserves justice for what was done to her and I hope her father sees the inside of a prison cell.
Don't ever apologize for your depression. If you're waking up every day and are putting one foot in front the other, then you're doing enough. We need to remind ourselves in our Era of instant gratification, that something as serious and fragile, such as depression, requires baby steps and a whole lot of patience and forgiveness (primarily from ourselves)

Brit's post was deleted because her string-of-thought posts sound like a bit of a drunken rant. BUT I 100% agree with the contents of her posts and I feel that she has been so traumatized by everything that I think we should be happy with her rants, and she may sound different than a 40 year old woman who has been able to feel her own success and freedom, who is allowed to feel so good about her own self, and that has been stolen from Britney as a human being. This woman has been severely abused, and I think she should let it all out because letting that anger out is a process of her getting it off her chest and she deserves that. I hope she continues to CALL OUT these people who hurt her like this. We shouldn't be expecting Britney to be a Hemingway's muse over here...she is telling us how she feels and she is raw and hurt. I don't support anyone for judging her for the way she posts on social media or the way she is gaining back her footing and voice. Let her express herself how she wishes, even if it is string-of-thought and scattered. There are far worse ways to be, like the cold calculate individuals who knowingly caged and drugged her, and Michael Jackson, for example.
