Im assuming that the burnt part of the bulb holder is no longer an issue and the bulb holder can still be used regardless of the condition? Going to try this today!
Appreciate the video. Might sound dump but Is it safe to put the earth straight onto the body of the car or put it onto the chassis as some videos do?😅
Pretty much all modern cars are monocoque construction - there is no actual chassis just thick rails to support suspension etc. It makes no difference, just don't fit an earth to an external body panel, like a front wing.
Awesome vid, thanks for making it. Sorry for the simpleton question...but what cable and connectors do I buy please? Dunno what to search to ensure I get all the relevant bits!
Go to Halfords or Automotive Components and get some 5amp cable and some crimp connectors. They will have various ones on display. You'll need a crimping tool too.
Im having the same issue, 0 experience with electronics but looking to fix this. It would be really useful if someone sold a kit to do this, as a lot of things like the eyelets can only be bought in packs of 20 etc
I just have the same problem.. i bought the bulb unit for 86 euros and conector for 7 euros now it have to find out how to replace con3ctor to cables..
oh okay i have a problem with tail lights only @@ottosgarage7986 do you think it would be the cluster panel? chances of it? as it’s both sides not just 1 side
This is a great solution. I’ve jammed a piece of soldering tin into to connector to replace the the 6th pin. Works intermittendly😂
This has to be the best once and for all fix. Thank you so much.
Thanks just done mine works a treat 👍
Nice clean work!

Brilliant tutorial thanks for sharing
I had to do it too in my TT.
How long is the bolt that you used? Thank you

There's a double skin to the body where you put the riv nut, so how is there enough space to set the nut?
It fits fine.

did this stop all light from work or just tail lights
All the lights on that rear unit. I had done the other side previously. Front lights are unaffected by this bad earth.
