Recently fitted the same unit to a Kia ceed I rebuilt, thought it was really good, only thing that I found a bit crap was the radio display. I've got a 2009 TT with the same unit you had and wasn't aware they did the Chinese screen for them so I'll likely upgrade that too! It'll be on my channel if you're interested. Subscribed to you!
I've fitted a few of these android head units to my cars and other people's cars. The mass of cables appear very off-putting but tbh, you don't need them all. They're very easy to connect up and I always install a reverse camera at the same time. Adds value to the car and is a huge upgrade on the stock radio.
Jesus Christ thank you, I had exactly the same issue as you but never figured out where it came from, I am definitely checking this out when I will be available… Thank you 👍👍
@@day_dobbiethank you. I’m going to try and do this this weekend. However the last owner of my TT seems to have cut out some of the cars connectors to put in a Bluetooth adapter and it’s a disaster in there.
Hey there David, found your channel pretty recently! I've bought last week myself a Audi tt mk2 also 2007 but black xD. Could you provide me with the radio link? Thanks so much for the content.
Thanks! Here’s the link. I’ll put it in the video description too! www.ebay.co.uk/itm/404056655435?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=bl4x58smqpu&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=hZGh8JNDTaW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
very informative. Anyone know the right can bus rev for the steering wheel controls? Also I have a harness that has two sets of audio inputs, for front and rear, that go to the oem harness but the head unit only has one set LR out, I ended up just getting a pair of 2 to 1 rca adapters. I also have a 23 pin amp connector that was pulled from the old unit but the android harness didnt have it, I still had sound so not sure if I need to try and get this hooked up?
Man, I have the same radio, but my blue amp cable from the harness goes nowhere, the oem from the TT doesnt have any cable on the other side where the blue amp would go. Can't figure out this out, strangely only my twitters speaker works, no door/rear speakers.
Nice video man, good investigation, I also bought a TT with an Xtrons unit and its crap. have a hissing noise, don't think it's wired correctly. Probably going to upgrade it
There's some kind of box you use to block that frequency. It's because your hooking up directly to an factory amp on the audi. I think there was another video that said to do that, but I forgot what is called. Do some digging.
Have you had a look at the loom to see if the amp control cable has been fitted? That’s what tells the amplifier to turn on when the radio is on, outputting the sound.
Hi Dave, Great video & great content...I've recently purchased a Mk2 Audi TT which has the same aftermarket head unit you fitted in the video...I need to remove the headunit to wire in a reverse camera...Could you advise the best/easiest way to remove...Appreciate any help you can offer...Thanks...
Thanks! If it’s the same as mine, then the stereo should just push into place, so removing it would be a case of gently prying the sides of the surround until it comes out. Just be gentle as the tabs that hold in the stereo are quite flimsy.
0I bought the Roinvou version from Amazon. I had to turn the amp on in the factory settings for the blue wire to get power. What I've noticed in my 2008 Audi TT MK2 is I lost loudness in my rear speakers. After investigating there pre-amp RCAs only have fronts hooked up to deck and it it's spliced to the rears to. So there's actually no rear or subwoofer Set of RCAs so u cant use the fader. Also the rear speakers are so low i can't hear them. The factor deck was loud. 🧐 Another complaint the music stops playing when I reverse. Even if I uncheck it in factory settings.
I think to fix the music stopping in reverse issue, I messed around with the time delay in the settings and set it to the highest I could. That seemed to stop the music from stopping when I go into reverse. I can’t say for your radio though as it’s different to mine
I have an Audi TT convertible 2007 With the factory stereo in it And when I have the roof down the sound seems very quiet What I need a bigger amplifier or the new stereo be enough
First thing I’d check if you haven’t already is the radio fuse, incase anything arced when changing the wiring. Next, I’d have a look at the power cables and make sure that the look is definitely compatible because it could be sending 12v to the wrong pin, not powering the radio. If you want to follow me on Instagram and message me, I’ll try and work through it with you👍🏻
No, I have the standard stereo system. I’d assume maybe the way the Bose amp and head unit communicate could be what causes issues maybe? Could be worth trying to see if there are any Bose specific replacements👍🏻
Hi bro i have Audi A4 with bose system i have the same issue Stereo is turning On but no audio.. im new to all this stuff.. please can you explain me that the blue wire (amplifer wire) you connected to which wire.. I have the amplifier wire but unable to figure out to which wire should i join... Because in my harness there is only one wire vacant that is the white wire and on it its written key 2. Other wise all the wires are connected to each other. Please please help me
I think the Bose systems are slightly different due to them having a different amplifier. Mine is just a standard sound system. I’ll do some research and if I can find any info, I’ll come back to this comment with a reply. Failing that, if you follow me on Instagram and message me, I’ll try and help you work it out. My Instagram is in my Bio👍🏻
@@day_dobbie thanks a lot from deep from the heart you are the only person who replied. I asked for help from soooooooo many people got nothing man. But im happy to tell you that i was able to solve the problem one day after getting frustrated look at the stereo diagram from the previous stereo it was symphony II+ and re-placed many wires here and there in the Android stereo harness and it worked beautifully yes in my car its bose system with bose apmlifier. Ive subscribed you on Instagram and RUclips both Thanks bro you are a gem you took time to see my comment and lend a helping hand to me. I wish i had met you earlier.
Hi - I’ve done something very similar in my car. Do you find the audio quality is really poor? Is that an issue with the speakers or do you think caused by the head unit?
My audio quality isn’t that bad in all honesty. It does the job but I’m sure there are definitely better head units out there that’ll provide a better sound! I’m pretty sure a head unit can have just as much of an effect on sound quality as the speakers can.
Double check your L and R audio plugs (red and white). Did the sound come out of both sides before you installed the radio and is it the same radio I fitted?
Seen this 6 months ago just found again now fitting mine in tt forgot about blue wire now connected and working thanks fir video
Good stuff👍🏻 Glad I could help!
These are great videos. Very informative, great resolution and really good narration.
Thank you!👍🏻
You help me a lot!!!
The blue wire is important
Thanks for this! I’m gonna put in a Chinese radio soon.

Thanks for the sub! The link for the radio I got is in the description if you're interested. Good luck with the install👍🏻
Don't have a TT, considering one for the near future and will likely do the same. Thanks for the clear videos lately and best of luck with the motor.
Thanks!👍🏻 Best of luck if you do decide to get one.

All i had to do for the sound, was connect the red & white L & R in and out phono leads together
Would love to know what parts you ordered (harness and head unit)
This is the radio I bought. The loom/harness came with it👍🏻

I have fitted a after market radio in my Audi tt and the speakers don’t work the radio powers on all done do you have any guesses on how to fix

I’ve been looking at a new head unit for my Mk2 but I’m so dubious about the eBay cheapies
So far, this one has actually been pretty good! Hasn't caused me any issues yet😅
Hi mate, what did you connect the Amp control wire to? Thanks
Hi mate, I’ve just managed to get audio thanks to your video! However now I’ve got this very quiet high pitched hissing noise? Any ideas
Glad it helped! Sounds like it could possibly be a loose connection creating feedback maybe?
hey, great video! its possible to add a reverse camera to that screen? thanks
Thanks! You can add a camera based on what the instructions were saying, but mine didn't come with one so maybe that's an optional extra?
Yes you can. I installed one in my TT
Would you ever consider reupholstering the Audi tt ?
No I don't think so, I quite like the leather interior
I have the exact same stero not powering on. but I don't have the old decoder in it. any ideas ty.

is there a lag? or can you connet to carply dircect with USB cable?
I can connect CarPlay wirelessly through bluetooth and there is also the option to use a USB, but I prefer the wireless option.
How is the radio signal?
The radio signal is pretty good as it still uses the original antenna in the boot of the car.
hey, do you have the bose audio system in your TT ? I heard that you can have some issues with that if you replace the oem radio
No, I have the standard stereo system. I’d assume maybe the way the Bose amp and head unit communicate could be what causes issues maybe? Could be worth trying to see if there are any Bose specific replacements👍🏻
