I got off the mainstream first with Anthrax and Cro-Mags, then I moved on to these bands you mentioned as well, Industrial, Rockabilly, Ska, Swing revival, Psychedelic ambient, and Chaos Jazz followed.
Man. I’m going to be 44 this year. I remember skating on my Tony Hawk and Frankie Hill 9-11 boards while listening to these guys back in 1989/ 1990. Thrash was the best music to skate to IMO.
Exactly man. Now this, this is music. It actually takes talent to play this type of music. Unlike those talent-less hacks that you just mentioned who use auto tune to cheat they're way to the top. Its just sickening.
Tipper gore jacked it all up her and her religious cronies fooled the masses into thinking this music being so called evil when people could just easily read what lyrics said and find out that's not the case lol.
This to me is the definition of how Metal should sound. The production is ideal, in my opinion. And you can hear the bass guitar, too. It doesn't get buried in the mix.
I went to this concert not too long ago these guys are f****** geniuses they never slow down they never lose a Beat I'm proud to have grown up in this era
One of the greatest bands that never crossed over. I discovered them when I brought ten tapes for a dollar at a thrift store in 1990. I was 11. Pure Thrash.
What do you mean they never crossed over? Not only were they literally one of the FIRST hardcore acts to cross over into metal, but they have an album called Crossover!!!! 😂
I can say this guitar tone is simply legendary. I remember being a small child, this is what I imagined heavy metal to be, with this kind of guitar tone, similar chord progression, and I REALLY doubt I heard these guys being a kid. DRI rules!
I'll say it again: greatest lyrics ever (well, kinda)... inspired by Herman Hesse's novel, no doubt. DRI and many other thrash and punk bands inspired me to START READING BOOKS, way back in the 80's. and in many ways, this saved my ass, or at least opened doors to strange universes. btw, even read Kurt Brecht's books, one about living in a nest; the other 'bout eating stale magic mushrooms in mexico. life goes on, long live heavy rock!
Spike was the f**kin' MAN...!!! Got to hang & got a pic with him, in Baltimore a few years back. He always brought a great guitar tone & style to a hardcore scene that didn't always display that sorta thing.
Saw this live a couple years ago and gonna see them again in a few weeks, VERY excited. It was a small show, but still honestly the best I've been to so far.
YOU SHOULD BE HYPED DUDE. they were my first concert and I've been to festivals and all. No energy beats this. so glad i got to seem them again two years later.

This song is addicting even without lyrics it would be amayzing, but the lyrics are perfectly synced with the music & once you hear them together they cannot be seperated
Our guitar player went and saw them when they were in Detroit last. Apparently the bass player had a wireless unit and was playing while moshing, drinking at the bar, and even went out outside for a smoke at one point.
This is the best video i have seen in years. Good metal like this is extremely rare to find these days. I can't see how i never heard of them. Did Nirvana rip these guys off in some kind of way?
I remember the first time I felt COOL! Thrash and Metal was and still is the coolest thing there ever was and is! Nothing is as cool, I don’t feel as cool doing anything else

Not all thrash has a legitimate amount of punk elements to be considered crossover. Their early stuff was a lot more hardcore punk than this album was, the vocals were still punk like, but the music was a bit more thrash metal. Sub genre's can get confusing sometimes, because thrashcore is not necessarily the same thing as cross over thrash.

Listened to this when I was 15...I'm 45 and back for more

They never get old. This is their softer stuff though.
Ya, me too 54 Monday ! Oregon waving a hand ! 🍻🍕🎸⚽️😜

How does one go about giving a band more credit
for what?
Exactly
@Pleasure To Kill 2.2mil now :)
@Pleasure To Kill for sure. i'm not even super into thrash, but as punk, these guys are a force of nature live and i respect everything they do.
I walked by my step-son's room the other day and heard this on his game. I think it was skate or skate 2 on 360. he was like "you know this band"?
This is the song that plays in my head every time I go to school. Or when I at least used to
I always loved the bass line in this song
JustinFH
is'nt this truilo from the latest incarnation of metalica playing bass here ?
@@jowlorenz9555 Bass player on this album was John Menor.
I'm a bassist and this is the first song I heard by them and that bass line is what got me hooked.
@@jowlorenz9555 the bassist for Metallica was in suicidal tendencies
I like how they try to convey a message in every song, its kind of genius in my opinion.
+Jordon Tobin That's how music should be. Fuck Kanye, Drake, and all those other lazy "musicians"

Hearing heavy bass is nice
Bass makes metal more heavy. Theres alot of good thrash bassist too bad msot of them get buried in the mix

In my eyes, DRI are the definition of metal. In their music, looks, attitude, lyrics, everything!
OLD SCHOOL NEVER DIES!!
i like how the drum looks so " Why Did I sign The Contract"
when the drums come in with the bass drum and snare, you think "hot damn, this is gonna kick your ass!" this song RULES!
I recently re-purchased this album... and this song is probably the only one that still holds up after all these years, other than "Thrashard."
I think this is like the longest song they ever wrote. DRI were pioneers in the whole crossover/thrash movement!
This was my shit in high school. It's a shame no one is making this kind of thrash anymore.
Seen D.R.I. 7 times now and never get tired of them.
I loved this band in HS for about a year - MAN their lyrics are simple.
