As a black kid into metal and punk in the late 80's slash early 90's, Rocky George was my hero. As corny as it sounds, he showed me I was the only black dude into this kind music. He inspired me to start playing guitar and after reading a article on ST, I started the Oakland chapter of the Suicidals gang. At max, we only had two members but me and boy Andrew repped ST and the Suicidals to fullest in the summer of 89, lol. Props to Rocky, both Mike's and the rest of the Suicidal crew. I'm a member of the gang 4 life.
I liked him too in the 80's, also Ernie C. Here in Finland we didn't really know of the race problems there, specially because i was 10 yo and never seen a black person personally, only on videos, and i thought it was super cool. Now 20-40 years later, I've been thinking of the diversity of suicidals, early 80's and a mix of all major types, as it should be. Good shit!
Black dudes had a huge influence on the punk scene particularly in the early days on the west coast - don't let anyone tell you that blacks don't belong in the punk scene, ever.
This band probably saved my life in the late 80’s. I didn’t know anyone else was experiencing this level of gas lighting and bullshit. Since the early 90s I've seen Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, Testament, Metallica , Exodus, Sepultura live. Suicidal's performance of this song I think is one of the biggest crowd reactions I ever saw.
as for speed metal (or whatever they call it today) I still only listen to Celtic Frost, Slayer, Metallica, Crumbsuckers , Motorhead. On the Hardcore/Punk side people need to hear the cassette releases of Direct Action, the Young Lions , and YYY (or Youth Youth Youth) - all from Toronto in the 80's.
I can't tell you how happy I am that Suicidal didn't dry up and blow away in the wake of Institutionalized. I saw them in them in 1985 when they were touring the first record. So happy that they caught on with millions of people who enabled them a career; so that I am able to rediscover them at 53. Thank you to Suicidal Tendencies, and especially thanks to all you Suicidal Cycos for recognizing a great band.
Yep. My favorite and first album I ever heard from Suicidal Tendencies! i saw them live in '98 at at place called Gibson's in Tempe, Arizona! I will never forget that night!
This is, in my opinion one of, if not the best heavy metal songs I've ever heard. I post it on my Facebook page repeatedly as the Best Hard Rock and Heavy Metal song ever. Suicidal!
How TF did this gem slip by me for all these years?!?! I LOVE this solo. Their lead guitarist is an animal. I’ve literally had this song on loop for entire 8 hours shift! Officially STUCK in my head! 😂
"You wouldn't know what crazy was if Charles Manson was eating Fruit Loops on your front porch." ST's poetry always adds a little comic relief while tackling serious subjects, but this one evokes THE best imagery. I chuckle at it every single time I hear it, and I've been listening to it for decades.🤘

They convinced me that suicide was not my only option and I could make it. I emailed them and ended up seeing them in the late 90's with Infectious Grooves in Tempe, AZ. I was privileged enough to even get to meet them afterwards and it's amazing to be called "Cyco" by Mike Muir
Suicidal, DRI, Prong, there was some great heavy stuff from that era right around 90, give or take a year or 2. I also seem to remember damn near wearing out 'Reign In Blood', 'South of Heaven', and 'Seasons In The Abyss' (on cassette 🤣). Death Metal was also just starting to crank out some really good stuff (Death, Pestilence, Obituary, Morbid Angel, so many).

I finally met Mike - completely on accident about 3 years ago. I was walking to grab another beer and bumped into him. Before I even knew it a crowd already formed around us and people were already asking for photo's and shit and I just shook my head like "hey man, I'm old school - I'm good. He grinned for a sec, walked over to me and threw his arm around my shoulder like we'd been buds for life - My buddy couldn't believe it and grabbed a pic of the incident. Let me tell you, he's as genuine a person as you'll ever meet.
I've seen Mike after a infectious grooves and suicidal show come out to the parking lot and meet and greet fans for an hour after both shows.I cant say nutn bad about the man!...Robby.
+Omegawerewolfx looks like they just uploaded the original video instead of the song over the video. I think the original video had the bleeps in it, so they figured "why not?" Better than editing the song or substituting words IMO. At least with bleeps it keeps up with the pace of the song.
+Omegawerewolfx It's because this video came out long before the internet, when MTV and much music played music videos, so if you wanted your video played you had to censor it. I've never heard an uncensored version of this video.
+moremetalthanyou71 I could swear there would always be an uncensored version but you usually had to buy the videotape with it on it. But yeah, I guess that makes sense. Still really kills the mood when it bleeps out every shit and fuck.
Been listening to ST since 1986, got me through depression and suicidal thoughts.. saw them live last year. My bucket list was complete. Mike thank you.
As a teenager I remember watching this video clip on Rage, late on Friday and Saturday nights, along with Alice in Chains, Metallica (One), Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, Jane’s Addiction, Kreator… and so on. This kind of quality music was hard to find those days as I could only afford to buy the occasional cassette/ cd (although JJJ helped), so really looked forward to it every weekend.
not even that, back on 09' when the video was uploaded Vevo would censor it themselves. not so much the age of the song but the year it was uploaded to YT

This tune has been a favorite of mine for close to thirty years. Caught them live opening for Metallica along with Danzig at the Essex Fairgrounds. One of the best shows I've seen! True Story, Metallica was banned from ever returning due to the many noise complaints from that show!
Cool story, bro. I've been to many dozens of great shows but never caught Suicidal or Danzig unfortunately. To see them both at the same show is insane. Plus Metallica? Bitchin!.
I saw them on that tour in Chicago Mike muir was in a wheelchair cause he broke his leg falling off a stage on that tour Then Metallica did Misfits songs with Danzig for the ending fucking awesome
I hadn't heard this song when I bought the album (cassette). I got it after I heard 'Alone' which thought was awesome and very creative. When I slipped the cassette in my player, I was completely blown away by this track. Greatest opening song ever 👊

Best intro from the late 80s/early 90s, and one of the best thrash songs of all time too.
Absolutely! Absolutely!
One of the definitive ST songs. Perfect blend of agression, melody, killer solos, angry/sweet Muir's vocals and awesome musicianship all around.
30 years later this song is still strong as Hell! (Even more in these times we are living.)
Shitty times LOL but we’ll survive
And now Robert Trujillo is the bassist for Metallica!
Did you see EXODUS when Kirk Hammet was still in the band?
I can't tell you how happy I am that Suicidal didn't dry up and blow away in the wake of Institutionalized. I saw them in them in 1985 when they were touring the first record. So happy that they caught on with millions of people who enabled them a career; so that I am able to rediscover them at 53. Thank you to Suicidal Tendencies, and especially thanks to all you Suicidal Cycos for recognizing a great band.
not only one of the greatest hardcore bands of all time, but also one of the greatest thrash bands of all time.
This whole album is a masterpiece
Amen
this album is Lovely
Yep. My favorite and first album I ever heard from Suicidal Tendencies! i saw them live in '98 at at place called Gibson's in Tempe, Arizona! I will never forget that night!
This song helps kids to follow their own path and definitely not let them break them but still be with respect and responsability.
Well said 💯
This is, in my opinion one of, if not the best heavy metal songs I've ever heard. I post it on my Facebook page repeatedly as the Best Hard Rock and Heavy Metal song ever. Suicidal!
Best guitar riffs hands down. Goat in my book!.
The censoring of this song offends me!
Go-go Akins maybe you need to be offended...

Better late than never! 🤘
Bassist is currently playing with Metallica.
Imo the most underrated guitarist in rock history.
You'll never hear such emotional shredding, from anyone else.

What the hell's going on around here?
First off-let's take it from the start
Straight out-can't change what's in my heart
No one-can tear my beliefs apart, you can't bring me
You ain't-never seen no one like me
Prevail-regardless what the cost might be
Power-flows inside of me, you can't bring me
Never-fall as long as I try
Refuse-to be a part of your lie
Even-if it means I die, you can't bring me
You...can't...bring...me...down!
Who the hell you calling crazy? You wouldn't know what crazy was
If Charles Manson was eating fruit loops on your front porch....
Time out-let's get something clear
I speak-more truth than you want to hear
Scapegoat-to cover up your fear, you can't bring me
You ain't-never seen so much might
Fight for-what I know is right
What up-you got yourself a fight, you can't bring me
Stand up-we'll all sing along
Together-ain't nothin' as strong
Won't quit-we ain't in the wrong, you can't bring me
You...can't...bring...me...down!
Bring me down-you can't bring me down!
Bring me down-you can't bring me down, no!
Bring me down-you can't bring me down!
Bring me down-you can't bring me down, you can't bring me down!
Tell them what's up Rocky!
You...can't...bring...me...down!
Bring me down-you can't bring me down!
Bring me down-you can't bring me down, no!
Bring me down-you can't bring me down!
Bring me down-you can't bring me down, you can't bring me down!
So why you trying to bring me?
Well you can't bring me down...No, no, no, no
Can't bring me down....No, no, no, no, no, no
Can't bring me down....No, no, no, no, no, no
Can't bring me down....No, no, no, no, no, no
So why you trying to bring?
Well you can't bring me down
Just cause you don't understand what's going on don't mean it don't make no sense
And just cause you don't like it, don't mean it ain't no good
And let me tell you something;
Before you go taking a walk in my world
You better take a look at the real world
Cause this ain't no Mister Roger's Neighborhood
Can you say feel like shit?
Yea maybe sometimes I do feel like shit
I ain't happy 'bout it, but I'd rather feel like shit than be full of shit!
And if I offended you, oh I'm sorry...
But maybe you need to be offended
But here's my apology and one more thing...fuck you!
Cos you...can't...bring...me...down!
Bring me down-you can't bring me down!
Bring me down-you can't bring me down, no!
Bring me down-you can't bring me down!
Bring me down-you can't bring me down!
Bring me down-you can't bring me down, no!
Bring me down-you can't bring me down, no!
Bring me down-you can't bring me down, you can't bring me down!
Can't bring me down!
Can't bring me down!
Can't bring me down!
Suicidal!
Did you copy this from inside the cassette cover? lol :)
Vevo can bring you down
And if I offended you, oh I'm sorry
Maybe you needed to be offended... some of the best lyrics ever

This song ,this band got me thru some really dark times. .May actually have saved my life. Respect
Glad to hear this.
The power of the jams
They convinced me that suicide was not my only option and I could make it. I emailed them and ended up seeing them in the late 90's with Infectious Grooves in Tempe, AZ.
I was privileged enough to even get to meet them afterwards and it's amazing to be called "Cyco" by Mike Muir
Hola
Cómo. Te. llama😮
That sweet spot at the end of the 80s and before Grunge. So many good bands.
Any other 50+ yr olds freaking the grandkids out with this? TURN IT UP!!!

I've listened to this song 100 times if I've listened to it once, and the begining instrumental still brings me chills!!! It's so beautiful, and the song's freaking awesome, amazing artist's ❣️
Legend has it Mike was born with a bandana.
i can see that
Mike can’t.
No that's a lie, he only has half of his 2 eyes, which he covers to perfection.
even stranger is the fact there's another bandana under that bandana
and pepsi
Monster of an album and only gets better with age. 30 years on and still sounds great. Lost again is truly brutal.
Lost again was the first Suicidal song I heard.. went and brought the cassette the next day 👍🏻
Just saw these guys at the metallica concert in Phoenix... made me a fan again !
Great story
I've seen Mike after a infectious grooves and suicidal show come out to the parking lot and meet and greet fans for an hour after both shows.I cant say nutn bad about the man!...Robby.
That’s so kewl bro,how fukn kewl is sat!
So kewl
Awesome Man
I grew up with this masterpiece. 49 already and still coming back for a dose of adrenaline.
why is the fucking video censored?!
+moremetalthanyou71
in France i believe what is broadcast 1 or 2 times uncensored... same for Megadeth... i do look in my TV record on VHS ...
+moremetalthanyou71 I could swear there would always be an uncensored version but you usually had to buy the videotape with it on it. But yeah, I guess that makes sense. Still really kills the mood when it bleeps out every shit and fuck.
+Omegawerewolfx VEVO. They're a bunch of pussies.
Glad i got to experience this great band they were opening for mettalica hell of a show
It's been years since I heard this. It's still as strong, intense and badass as I remember.
Been listening to ST since 1986, got me through depression and suicidal thoughts.. saw them live last year. My bucket list was complete.
Mike thank you.
In my opinion, Suicidal Tendencies is one of the best bands to ever do it.
I’m an Aussie. Saw these guys live in the early 90’s and fell in love with them. This song I always played before I went to work. Still do!
I saw the speed and precision at the Hordern Pavilion (RIP) 1993, and at Selina's Coogee Bay Hotel 1995, raw power, raw intensity, lifelong fan.
"OH IM SORRY IF I OFENDED YOU BUT MAYBE YOU NEED TO BE OFFENDED."
ALL of us Need to recognize these are the most powerful lyrics of our generation.
So here's my apology and one more thing......

we should be putting Tendencies as one of the greatest bands of all time, easy. so underappreciated.
One of the most underrated multi racial greatest bands in the world..... SUICIDAL!!!!!!
I dunno why race matters but ok 😂
They all look human to me. Are there extraterrestrials in the band?
probably one of the most underrated bands EVER!
The Descendents/all bands are way more underrated
not even that, back on 09' when the video was uploaded Vevo would censor it themselves. not so much the age of the song but the year it was uploaded to YT
They are one of the most influential bands from the 80's/90's.
+Brett R (DaygloAbortion247) Lol and then rocky George left to join an even more underrated band, Fishbone.
Amazing song. Excellent solo. That intro part from 2:53-3:03 still sends a chill down my spine after all these years.

Really? Reaally? Censoring the Suicidal Tendencies? You couldn't even bring me a Pepsi. Not even one.
Bitchin!.
