I saw DRI so many freakin' times in the late 80's and early-mid 90's... they seemed to always be on tour and they seemed to play near me at least once a year.
Bless these guys for helping to bring together the skins, the punks, the thrashers, and the metal-heads back in the day when for some stupid reason we thought we were enemies. These guys, Anthrax / SOD, Nuclear Assault, COC, Discharge, Suicidal Tendencies, etc.! Fuck yeah! People today just take for granted that we all stick together as brothers, but it wasn't always that way back in the day.
Richard Bexborn - I was a hardcore/punk rock kid and a skater but I still had a lot of metal head friends back in the day. What you said was basically true but I'll add something to it. People often talk about the separation between punks, skins and metal heads but once crossover and thrash metal got big then the separation became between the type of "metal heads" that listened to Motley Crue, Poison, Skid Row, Slaughter, Great White, Bon Jovi, etc. and everyone that listened to Thrash, Crossover, & Hardcore, whether they be skins, punks, hardcore kids or metal heads. You could go to a DRI or COC show back in the day and you'd see punks, skins, and long haired metal guys in the crowd, but you'd never see a guy with teased up hair and a poison shirt on. A lot of my metal head friends listened to stuff like Black Flag, Minor Threat, & Agnostic Front and myself and other Hardcore/Punk kids listened to Slayer, DRI, COC, SOD, Anthrax, etc. but there was nobody who listed to Bon Jovi and Slayer or Poison & Metallica.
@@billdavis6900 Truth man! I meant METAL lol... Yeah with the "posers" there was a clear distinct line. The hair / glam metal bands were aimed at mall-rat high school girls, to begin with. I remember the line was pretty clearly drawn, except for a few of the more commercial bands like Motley Crue, Tesla, and Guns n Roses which were acceptable but you know on the verge...
Spike has a totally unique sound and style -- there were no other thrash/crossover/whatever guitarists who sounded quite like him. You know it's Spike as soon as he starts playing.
That new ep they have out now still has that Spike guitarsound. Never gets old. And Kurt still sounds the same amazingly. The music got a little slower though lol.
GenX had the best music. I was about 18 when I saw DRI. It was a tiny club show no tickets pay at the door. We destroyed the place. Looking back now from 56 years old, what a time to be alive. 🤘😎🤘
Thanks DRI,because of this video and not wanting to be a suit and tie guy I've spent my life doing manual labor and listening to 80's metal, what a great decision that was! I hate you guys!
Please refer to their song, "Reaganomics." That's what killed blue collar labor. Before that doddering buffoon, shitbag Raygun's war on working people and their right to a dignified living, all labor was valued. But it's been 35+ years of class war, started by RayGun (or rather his masters) and pretty much carried on in different guises in every administration since - including Clinton (who further sold out working people) and Obama - who has done little or nothing to change things.
Big DRI fan here, how could I never have seen this?! I love the old school cheesiness of the business guys and the cloud background. These guys were so cool, and I had a couple of direct interactions with Spike & Kurt and --- man, they're just as cool as you'd hope they'd be in as a fan. Great guys, great band. Classic song, classic album. Thanks for posting this!
What we fail to recognize is that a majority of people in that very same crowd became suit and tie guys, reasons may vary but the point of this is that you carry the punk beer drinkin wild animal inside and no one can take that away.
@speshalsauz dude if you were listenin to this back in the day,, you wasn't a dork. the late 80"s early 90"s underground metal time period was the best. best times of my life anyways. i'm 43 and i still like my music extra crunchy. some things shouldn't change.......cheers bro
Fuck no thats blood and at least a few weeks of bruises, i saw them in 07 here in Cleveland and it was fucking insane I hate circle pits though it's a trip fest
Man love this shit, my family was broke when I was younger first cd by dad got me was suicidal tendencies,he didn't know what it was but he went fishing team with one of the band mates dads and they gave it to him for free still got it love this shit, wish rock wasn't so pussy nowadays
love this old 80's stuff , dri kicks major butt , thumbs up to all of dri stuff , thrashing and moshing , it does not get any better !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Potentially the most overlooked band in the 90s if into the crossover and general mosh pit sound. Applies for so many of their songs. Just saw them in philly and they were fantastic. This and Do the Dream were standouts
one of my most fave simple solos remember watching this on headbangers ball its what got me to listen to d.r.i. great band i love their style too bad bands cant be like this still oh well time to listen to more dri!!!
Tonight say " the come and take it" it's mine and my girlfriends anniversary we met at a D.R.I.show 3 years ago at the come and take it and every year since they've played at the same bar the same night so this is how we spend our anniversary how awesome is that
suit & tie guy was ahugeemblem during the late '80's,these guys aswell as The "dayglo abortions",..."cryptic slaughter","Testament" and"celtic frost" rocked hard here in the north atlantic,The maritimes, awsome times!!!
804safety they are literally playing tonight an hour away from me...Santa Cruz. I couldn’t make it so I’m watching vids and hoping I’ll see them someday
Suit and tie guy With his fashion phases And his quarterly raises Feels he's better than you and me Suit and tie guy Thinks he's real cute In the bathroom for A toot Until his nose starts to bleed Suit and tie guy I see he always hurries I know he always worries He's gonna die of A heart attack Suit and tie guy On his way to feeding Or an important meeting Just like A car on A track Suit and tie guy He travels between stations With certain destinations Never varying from that routine Suite and tie guy And he'll tell you in one word That he is insured And it's not as bad as it may seem
This is funny because I wear a suit and tie every day to work and listen to D.R.I. while I'm there.
Do you still think your cute when you’re in the bathroom for a toot ?
hahaha me too, but a teacher though 🙂
80's thrash was fantastic! I'm glad I was a teenager then and lived through this.
🙋♀️ me too!!
Me too
Lucky bastard
I saw DRI so many freakin' times in the late 80's and early-mid 90's... they seemed to always be on tour and they seemed to play near me at least once a year.
High school 1979 to 84, fricking great time to be a teen!

well said - back then NOBODY disliked DRI
ST are still criminally underrated.
STFU TRENDY MAN

Crossover is still one of the greatest albums of all time. Rest in peace, josh.
4 of a kind *
You're not wrong, but this one's 4 of a kind
I realize that.
Ok
Was Josh the lead singer in dri?
Spike has a totally unique sound and style -- there were no other thrash/crossover/whatever guitarists who sounded quite like him. You know it's Spike as soon as he starts playing.

Same with Rocky George after ST crossed over.

+iddddaduncan Doesn't sound too bad
+iddddaduncan Would you prefer the risk department, pop music, and slightly higher monthly bribe to finance the illusion that you're progressing?
+anidemolimacnauj Haahhahahhaahhaa.. Right? Not tha' the 80's Have Ended...Y??
Suit And Tie guy, Always Naked...
+iddddaduncan So it is their fault you screwed up?

one of my favorite bands growing up in the 80's!!! and still a top favorite of mine now in my 40s!!!!!!
The soundtrack to my reckless and misspent youth.
Suits can be swanky, especially if you're listening to your old school thrash on your smartphone...
under rated band!
If they just keep releasing songs or albums they might be big or famous like misfits and pantera.
I bought this when it first dropped, still have the vinyl :)
Me too.
Our Founding Fathers laying down a solid foundation for us all to expand on.. Eternally grateful
I used to hear this when i was teen. I never even knew what these guys looked like. Good upload!

What we fail to recognize is that a majority of people in that very same crowd became suit and tie guys, reasons may vary but the point of this is that you carry the punk beer drinkin wild animal inside and no one can take that away.

Classic thrash, DRI were the kings, one of the better shows I saw, they tore it up! I still have one of Spike's picks ;)
I will someday be the mother that drives my kids to school with this playing. :)
Are you there yet? if not...I'd happily father your hardcore metal kids...you can drive them,I'll raise them hahaha
How has that turned out? Asking because I'm a Father that is playing this while driving my kids around. And, happily proud of it. :D
I drive with their music... In my 40's..... Yeaaaaah
I think she either died or forgot her password bros... maybe she was never even real
@@THRASHMETALFUNRIFFS I'm real, alright. Still no kids though!
RIP Josh Pappe
He was my friend. I miss him so much.
I really liked these guys in Jr High. Still like them..
When I was a kid I always thought it was cool that Stephen Pearcy not only fronted RATT but sung in a skate band too.
Suit and tie guy
With his fashion phases
And his quarterly raises
Feels he's better than you and me
Suit and tie guy
Thinks he's real cute
In the bathroom for A toot
Until his nose starts to bleed
Suit and tie guy
I see he always hurries
I know he always worries
He's gonna die of A heart attack
Suit and tie guy
On his way to feeding
Or an important meeting
Just like A car on A track
Suit and tie guy
He travels between stations
With certain destinations
Never varying from that routine
Suite and tie guy
And he'll tell you in one word
That he is insured
And it's not as bad as it may seem
that suit looks pretty good
One of the grandest staements on American corporate environment. Long live DRI!
I love DRI
I used to work for suit and tie guy.
really good
Oh memories!
That’s my jam
