Jordan Peterson on Trump's Intelligence

- I want an independent candidate to take over the Democratic party and offer an even better choice than Trump that will push us further away from the corrupt establishment and get us away from the darker sides of Trump. But if you want to defeat Trump in 2020 you HAVE to stop saying he's just a dumb idiot - he is far, far from that, and I'm sure even HE was surprised by how profoundly he was underestimated by the comfortable elite. See here for the full interview with Dave Rubin: • Free Speech, Psycholog...
first rule of any competition: Never underestimate your enemy
Winkinger gets it.
Hillary also goofed when she insulted 1/4 of the voters (half of the Trump supporters) by calling them "deplorables". At least Obama was smart enough to wait until after he won to call his political foes "bitter clingers".
First actually good smart comment I've seen on these political debates on RUclips comments. Hats off to you sir.
Never interrupt your enemy when she's making a mistake.
No that's the second rule the first rule is don't talk about the competition. Lol
" When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years." Mark Twain
Can you tell me the significance of this and the significance of you commenting it? Just curious because I don't understand.
@@connorb614 Mark Twain meant that as he grew older, he became wise and started to understand his father's ways.
But even I don't see any relevance to the video too lol
@@connorb614 I think he's referring to the people who mindlessly rip on trump as being the 14 year old
@@connorb614 To put it simply, Mark Twain thought himself, at the age of 14, as the allknowing being because every teenagers do that, we all thought we were smarter than our parents. As sweatpatch123 said, the one criticizing trump maybe be those persons stuck in a 14 years old mentality

You didn't understand what he was saying
Intelligence =/= wisdom
There are videos of Jordan lecturing when he was young. Look up “Jordan Peterson Harvard 1996” on RUclips
If IQ scores weren't adjusted for age practically everyone over 50 would be considered mentally retarded... Fortunately intelligence is an ability to learn quickly so you can just learn things before the slow sets in and remember them. IQ is like torque, you need it to get going and the more you have the faster you get going but once you're up to speed it doesn't really help all that much.
@In CogNito Underrated.

Here's Jordan Peterson at his best. He takes every topic analytically instead of folding into the social norm of bashing. I find Trump to be a jackass, but an idiot? No way.
Well Jordan also plays for the same side... he can be very non-analytical once it comes to other sides.
Which is why understanding biases is so very important.
MsSomeonenew Jordan has said his temperament has pushed him to leaning more libertarian. So.. what do you mean?
Do you think he's a Trump supporter?
ExMachina70: No - definitely not. Peterson is a Canadian and is primarily concerned with the encroachment of authoritarian ideological systems into public life and especially the criminalization of open and free public discourse. This is becoming a major problem in Canada. We now have a Social Justice Tribunal. A motion was just passed specifically denouncing blasphemy against Islam. We have a Prime Minister who thinks Castro was a swell guy, and simply for refusing to submit to Marxist-nihilist neologisms Peterson was denied grant funding for his research for the first time (Canadians who are afraid of what's happening funded his research themselves). Jordan Peterson is all about speaking the truth a you see it regardless of the consequence or pressure to conform to a generic, ideology-based group-think. Like him, I detest the re-emergence of a way of thinking that, when brought to its ultimate conclusion, killed 95 million people last century. That's where he's coming from.
It's really sad to hear. I wanted to live in Canada, but it sounds like it's equally crazy there as it is here in California. My mom came from Toronto, and moved out here some years back.
This is why I have a HUGE amount of respect for Jordan Peterson. He not only says what he feels...but he gives a reason why. And it's not based on bias. It's analytical. It makes sense. It's not subjective. It carries true to everyone who exhibits those same traits, regardless of political affiliation. He didn't say a SINGLE thing that pertained solely to a democrat or a republican. Or a liberal or a conservative. His analysis is strictly based on critical thinking.
Jordan does not know anything about Trump fucking life.. He is guessing here.
His Attempts To 'Reverse-Engineer' His Biases Through 'Scientific'
Posturing, And Discourse, Are Transparently Erroneous; Whether
He Has "Thought About It", Or Not: 'This 'Cool' "Prof" Is A Failure.
Capitalize every word and use fancy vocabulary to make yourself look smart, while actually not saying anything meaningful or coherent. Good job.
He's not reverse-engineering anything, he's literally doing his job, which is psychoanalysis. He's developed a habit of maintaining calm, both mentally and physiologically... that's a skill that would benefit anyone. He makes sure he knows enough to talk about something, and when he is inquired about a topic he's not comfortable speaking about, he explains that he cannot give an answer he is confident or satisfied with... again, an introspective skill that would benefit anyone, including you and me.
It's not anyone's job to be "cool". That's a buzzword used to describe something people agree with in order to avoid actually addressing why they agree with the thing. Speaking of buzzwords, you seem to think the word "failure" carries any actual meaning. Well, you're right, it does, but not when you literally use it as the last word and don't provide any argumentation behind it whatsoever.
Realpolitik Santa he’s the Deepak Chopra of Christianity. He admires trump because they share a skill for manipulating gullible stupid people. They’re both charlatans and con artists.
"he's literally doing his job, which is psychoanalysis" is laughable-he's actually just being a talking head/"pundit" aka "opinion giver; "doing psychoanalysis" doesn't require you to go on TV/radio or online shows and give your opinions in exchange for notoriety and/or money.
You've misused the term "physiologically" horribly and that along with the term "when he is inquired about" belie your attempt to discredit the other commenter for trying to "look smart while actually not sayng anything".
The "cool" is an obvious indictment on the sycophantic fanbois like yourself without much depth of reasoning ability or want for individual nuanced thought and just seek out someone to confirm their bias, nod along to, regurgitate the thoughts of and vehemently defend in fervently impassioned failed attempts.
You should try Googling statements you make occasionally: failure is a noun.

The sentence at the end you take such umbrage with may have been slapdash but the sentiment is both logical and grammatically correct.

Good thing Peterson wasn't asked if he thought Trump was well-informed on foreign policy or thoughtful about the issues in general. He really would have been cornered into either lying outright or alienating the right, which he seems so loathe to do that I've never seen him say a single thing that right-wing folks would find unpalatable. That's remarkable for a self-described leftist. So remarkable that it strains credulity regarding Peterson's actual politics.

Trump’s fame and bigotry appeals to many disenfranchised people. That doesn’t make him intelligent. He also isn’t the most popular, and had we had a modern voting process would not be president. He won with a loophole. Let’s not forget the true facts.
Wow, so many people here just bitter and angry.
Absolutely no offence , while I wholeheartedly love Person , here he is quite out of touch , his is discussing that theoretically he couldn't be unintelligent , yet he clearly is of average intellectual capacities , if it seems like an elephant, acts like and elephant , sounds like an elephant , it's an elephant , no theorizing about it !
I think that every person who has heard his addresses cannot be ignorant of the fact that his linguistic competence , a factor related by a multiplicity of studies to high intelligence , is worse than even Gearge W. Bush's , literally , he failed to comprehend a metaphor of G.W.Bush , and of course that's only one extreme example , just hear his annunciation of the syria bombing , I am not exajerading in saying that an average high school kid could have writen a more advanced one . I won't even mention his historical illiteracy ...
(Of course there are exceptions to the relationship between linguistic abilities and intelligence , as there is with iq too , Feynman one of the geniuses of the 20th century had a mere iq of 120 )
Wrong. Like Rubin says, that's just a lazy way of thinking.
Look who Trump was looking to relate to, and be relatable to. From the way he talked, to the red baseball cap; it was a skillful act. And he continues it, while people like you write him off as unintelligent.
A top notch genius? No. But by no means unintelligent.
That's what these people know how to do; appeal to their base and give the ability to others to foolishly stroke their own egos and feel superior. Oh, and provide fodder for the left appealing late night comics. Keep America polarized; very important.
A skilful enough user of language like peterson can present a ludicrous point as a plausible one , this administrative address are beyond childish there is no 'campaign populism' alibi there .
I absolutely believe that an intelligent person such as yourself can recognize that rubin is a paradigm of intellectual prowess , I strongly advise you to listen to not fall into such false labelling , common sense isn't lazy thinking .
P.S. I am sure that watching the addresses of presidents the kind of Roosevelt or Eisenhower will widen your perspectives .
We're not living in the time of Roosevelt or Eisenhower.
Go back to the founding fathers and their opinions on religion. They firmly believed in a separation of church and state. Yet, Trump just signed an executive order to promote religious liberty. It has public support amongst his base, and has "progressives" upset. Trump knows what he's doing.
I stand by my comment regarding the late night comics. Manufactured controversy to create polarization. With no real political face to the left, the late night comics ARE that face until the next election cycle.
The founding fathers wouldn't recognize present day America, and neither would Roosevelt and Eisenhower.
Do I need to spell it out any clearer? Could it be any more obvious, the game being played? Tune into the late night comic shows. Tune into daytime TV (Ellen, The View). Watch the audience eat that shit up. That's what we're dealing with. That's what the political establishment is dealing with.
I shall then make it more explicit , subtlety is unfortunately not an american virtue .
YES , the "liberal" media manufacture consent , yes there is no real left , progressives etc only neoliberalism and plutocracy on both side , I am not talking about the politics .
I am remarking that independent of politics , trump is a bloody moron , he is no acting it , he is !
I am mentioned those two , especially Roosevelt as extremely popular without populism and lowering of the level ,of the indeed the façade - stage - theatre , to trumps illiteracy .
I am criticizing any pseudo-intellectual that claims that this president is not a privileged uneducated imbecile that appealed to the lowest kind of populism and won only because he was running against the most corrupt american politician in recent history !

Spot on. People's own egos prevent them from seeing the facts. Look at his income level, his wife, books published, Even if you disagree with Trumps politics, gotta admit levels of intelligence.
I'm 7 months late, so forgive me, but how does income level, wife or books (supposedly he has written) show he has a high intelligence? They hint at it... If you took him as a statistic, the odds are he is likely to be intelligent, but at the same time you can't make that assumption based on these things.

most of Trump's opponents like to think he's stupid, and that's exactly what he wants them to think. he's totally beatable, but the Democrats are too distracted playing checkers while he's playing chess. so i can understand the frustration and confusion.
I'd say that I more closely align with democratic values (although I agree with conservatives on many things too) and I completely agree with your assessment of what is going on. The democratic party is completely distracted by Trump. They are struggling to keep up because Trump has totally blindsided them with his simple and straightforward approach to complex problems. Like Trump, they should be focused on their own simple message rather than trying to take down their opponent. Trump's dissenting comments about Democrats is his dessert, not his main course. What is the Democrat's main message right now? Nothing. You can't win on that.
Trump knows that most voters don't understand the nuance of government and policy (and he may not either), but that doesn't matter... he's learned (like many other populist candidates in other countries recently) that votes are all that matter and that approach is likely going to win him a second term unless the Democrats can give up on trying to catch him on something and just match his level of rhetoric. Like Trump, they need to talk about what they're going to do to make things better, not how bad they think things are.
In the end, I think all of us (democrats, republicans and all of us in between) want the same basic things: health, safety, freedom, prosperity. We just disagree on how to get there, and that's ok. Shit would be boring if everyone was the same. But, as long as we can appreciate that then hopefully new and better ideas will come out of our disagreements.

This interviewer is good you can tell he doesn't allow an ego to get in the way of thought he has thoughts that he expresses sincerely.
I agree. When he asks a question he actually wants to hear the answer. Non-confrontational.
In Trump's words: stable genius
J Austin you do know that the casino industry in the 90s was deeply at risk and many casinos went bankrupt. Trump had his downs as a business man. But that comes with the territory. For every down he had, he then turned 5 successes. There is unequivocal risk to that particular profession. That much has always remained a constant reality. Why that doesn’t apply to Trump is beyond me. Maybe you’re exactly what Rubin was referring too. Congratulations.
He's been at this a long time, did you see the 1980 interview with Rona Barrett? It's on youtube.
Thinking your opponent is stupid can usually be why they defeat you.

IQ for politicians depends on weather or not one agrees with their opinions. Like someone said, Isn't it interesting how a wise man's opinion so closely align with my own!
Trumps not a Politician tho

That was really funny. God bless you! Jesus loves you! John 3:16- For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
1 Corinthians 15:3-4~ For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
he truly is very stress-resistant. great way to put it.
I am a Contractor...in my world...to servive you have to be able to multi-task 5 to 10 steps ahead at all times in real time...we dont have the luxury of taking weeks or even days to figure out next move in our day to day decision making. trump has mastered this 100 times over...thats why he so good at financial decisions for our country. He doesnt care what you think...he is going to make a complex decision come together as a done deal. Policians cant do this...thay all act like "Fainting Goats"...scared of criticizim. Not Trump....he's like a well trained "Problem Sniper". He He he MAGA
Hahahahahahaha...
my father was a very skilled construction contractor and Trump is likewise in a similar way. Trump wins arguments and politics repeatedly over 2 years against pro politicians... that is not accidents
This country needed a business man in 2016 and Its been nice seeing unemployment at 50 year lows. Republicans have always been good for business. If you really need some social issue adjusted I guess you could tap a Dem for 4 years but I dont trust their asses
Trump is just smart enough to hire people who are smart
Well said in the description, well said 👍

reminds me of andrew yang, as in he says the same damn thing everywhere he goes
To be fair, everyone knows who Trump is, no one knows Yang. Yang has to make a sales pitch to people who have never heard of him and he can't really adlib too much in that regard. When I've heard him in less formal interviews he just speaks naturally and doesn't try to hit all his talking points like he would when he only has 5 minutes.
Smart mofos seem like crazy mofos to dumb mofos.
Peterson is side stepping the issue of his sociopathic. Immoral con artistry. Peterson doesn t mention dunning. Kteuger as the source of his low. Iq. Trumps a failure at business and his personal life is a disaster. The kind of low life no one would want in their. Families. Dump fatars. Trump.
Jordan Peterson is only "smart" to Stupid people
if you under estimate Trump YOURE FIRED
Jag håller med jordan Peterson politik åsikt ,tack och lov finns lika mig i världen
In my 20s I had a decent , I had a head injury , and I feel I am pretty recovered , and at 46 I'm as sharp as I've ever been , after the head injury , in so many ways I'm better than I've ever been , I wonder if the head injury knocked Some sense into me lol , it makes no sense the way I've progressed with age ,
"If your opponent is of choleric temper, irritate him...Pretend inferiority and encourage (your opponent's) arrogance." That's exactly how Trump uses Twitter; he acts ridiculous and gets under the skin of his opponents and then, like clockwork, they overreact and get sucked into the game he wants them to be playing.
The Art of War.
Agreed
I agree, IQ does go down with age. Doesn't mean Trump is stupid.
No just his actions reveal that.
Doesn't that make you geh?
Every Republican president since Reagan has been called stupid.
Too complex a question to answer in this simplistic way
IQ goes lower with age?!?
F**K --- I'm about to start hitting the books to keep it polished as long as possible!
i don't particularly like him but he's definitely a really really smart dude
I like this statement
I always liked him but understood why people could possibly not like him
This feels like the inverse of that
Just admitting that alone reveals an above-average level of intelligence.
Why did you stop it? That was interesting.
Don't confuse being smart with being clever or ambitious.
Unlocked bingo
I'm not sure being a successful reality tv star equates intelligence.
I'm sure there is a lot more to it than people realize, but if you film a trainwreck it attracts eyes.
Reality show is a Business and the success depending the opinions of multi million people is depending on multiple complex strategies. It is not as simple as the closed door business that closed the door and finishing all the prototypes and perfect them tests after tests before releasing the final product to the mass market. To understand those complex differences is led to one conclusion: reality show business has only one shot to the market to be successful. It is a very harsh and complex business required a comply planning to be successful.
Being successful in anything equates intelligence. Period.
"It's very difficult to be a reality tv star that is successful." ?
So all the Jersey Shore ppl must be geniuses then.
For 14 seasons, yes it is.

So much well said in little time.
Why can't he formulate a rational sentence? Isn't that indicative of intelligence?
@@pwmvsi they are not. There is no debating that. You are clearly to stupid to understand that as well.

Casper and Sogeking - cut it out. That crap don't fly here.

I think you just won the "dumbest comment of the day" award.
What does ones opinion of Trump have to with what work one does?
It's just ... mind boggling how anyone would type out such nonsense.
You're suggesting that someone who found their way to presidency has not an ounce of intelligence, while you're too dumb to get out of a career you hate.
Who's suggesting that? And no, you have to work on your telepathy skills I'm afraid.
one of my favorite video of peterson
I tell people this all the time. I don't like him and he may not be a genius, but he's smarter than your typical American. He knows how to use group think and create buzz words for people to rally behind even if they can't explain what they're actually rallying behind. Typical politician and business minded stuff, not amazing, but he def isn't the idiot people make him out to be.
@Car Crazy
It happens on both sides of the aisle and in almost every facet of society. Practically every single social, political, or economic issue is carefully crafted and presented to people in a way to wich they can pull in gullible people who don't know better to support causes and arguments they don't understand fully.
It just is what it is. You either fall for it or you don't. But I'm not gonna debate what's worse, Pepsi or Coke? They're both poison. Whether you like your poison sweet and smooth or with a little bite to it, it's still poison.
@Car Crazy
My take is most of the people in the organization mean well, but the organization is misguided either unintentionally or intentionally.
Most of the issues they're concerned about are legitimate, but most of them are symptoms of bigger issues plaguing people, primarily people of color in this society. But because they're aren't educated properly on the issues they tackle, they're not able to properly articulate what the root issues are properly, especially not against skilled debaters and worse the trained provocators and spin masters in the media and the gov't.
@Car Crazy
I had a feeling that you asked me about BLM's as a way to segue into talking about your own issues. If that's what you wanted , you could've done that from the start.
I don't really care much for people's opinions, especially debating politics of race and what not. Most issues aren't solvable through debate as there is a significant part of the problem, probably the core root of the problem, that has to do with the diametrically opposed nature of the situation and communities of people. I might respond in detail later when I have time. I might not.
@Car Crazy
Black on black violence is not the main problem. It's a symptom of a bigger problem. That problem is that a conquered people never gains any semblance of true justice, freedom, and liberty until they liberate themselves from their conquerors. There is no middle ground and no democratic way to fix the problem. Only separation can do that. From there, everything we're witnessing is a symptom of what conquered people face. And the people of the society that conquered my people will never unanimously work in conjunction with us to undo the problems we face. Many are diametrically opposed to it because their society was built on our oppression and you can't chsnge the nature of something. It will continue to be the way it's always been.
Everything I just said went clean over your head. Either that or you're acting like it did. lmao You're not even responding to anthing I said. Just ranting. Iol Talking about white privelage and shit.
I'm out. I got better shit to do.
I'm not a Trump supporter but, his detractors have shown themselves to be low life four year olds who lost their toys. Very disappointing to witness this in the US.
Lost toys? We're too busy playing with our new toys, 2 of them being the House and Senate. Keep demeaning half the country, this is why Trump won.
I might not have succeeded with my point, but who could, when everyone is shouting, nobody listens.
I understood your point - people are so jacked up on emotion that they can't perceive clearly. Let's keep working on them.

This thread is hilarious. Thanks T SJ.
The Left is stuck on, 'Why do we keep getting beat by this idiot?'
Because they are beta's, they don't know how to win so they just play victim. It's a natural instinct. The only way to control their population is through eugenics. I'm hoping for them to abort themselves out of existence, while us hard working americans have 4 to 6 children.
Ed Harley Because idiots account for a great enough number to win an election.
David Kriz reasonable people I fucking fell out of bed laughing ty
They don't shove reasonable people on tv Dug because they're not entertaining. The agenda seems to be to generate disgust on both sides, so both the left and right are showing the worst humans possible and saying, this is what the left is and this is what the right is.
