It’s a bit late for that, the minor wars have been won and lost by all sides but the final war is on the horizon and the ultimate prize is their for all contenders to take on a much more even balanced battle ground.

Shaun Somma the truth does this to people who play political games instead of working for their people that they don’t represent. I love that honesty is something people still respect. This guy is smart but more important he’s always a great example of how to be true to yourself and he has the decency to not just talk shit and be a parrot for anyone who is childish and angry regardless of “side”
It depends on the topic. He says a lot of provocative things and makes most of his good points in ways that are easily misunderstood by people on both sides of whatever issue he's talking about pretty often. Other times he's flat out wrong, or makes a nonsensical argument, and often the data/research he uses to make claims is insufficient, hence why so many people call him a hack. He tends to use buzzwords like "radical left" but never clarifies what he actually means, so people make assumptions, which are usually wrong. Usually when he says the word radical, he's talking about authoritarian perspectives, like restricting free speech, which has nothing to do with right or left. It just so happens that people who claim to be left are the ones he's disagreeing with at the time, because there's a vocal minority that pushes for such things. He also tends to ignore the radical positions of those on the right, which makes him appear more biased than he probably is in actuality. Personally, I think that's pretty far from sensible, regardless of his actual stance on things (usually his actual stance IS pretty sensible, but he goes around provoking others).
Matt just like you did on his RUclips video. Typical leftist racist fuck face spouting off from the mouth as if repeating what they read about trump from a coffee shop drinking a star bucks coffee enjoying internet and peace of mind knowing your perfectly safe as you are and if you shit out of your mouth. Whelps. You won’t be killed for speaking your mind. However your very party you so cling to life for is in fact against open and free speech. They are for the eradication of rights purely in name of the majority. Ironically it’s not even the majority that stands to gain by anything the left says or does. Your points are weak and your failure to not look inward and fix your own parties problems before you dare to speak up against another shows the public the types of people whom catered to the extremely socialist views of the current Democratic Party.
Not really. Your average republican will align with most everything he has to say. The alt-right loves and hates him but who gives a fuck about what such an insignificant group of people think.
I don't think so...it's quite comprehensible...he speaks in a calm convincing manner, using facts, that DO make you rethink about things that you were told to be true, and really encourages people to think for themselves with logic and even getting to know the other side of things and then making up your own mind...put all this together and you have the worst enemy to the overlords that have an agenda all about creating a hive mind of drones that repeat blindly the mantras that they told them to...
Jordan can be banned from speaking in the same way and for the same reasons Zar Nicholas and his family were murders and the Soviet Union was plunged into 70 years of socialism, murder and corruption.
I love Dr. Peterson because of the fact he can talk politics, religion, psychology, and motifs for life without bringing emotion into it and speaks with logic. We need more men like him!
Though I think it’s sad to watch his obvious and rapid mental decline. He talks about how males should retake the masculine role in society yet he sobs like a sissy at the drop of a hat when he’s challenged on his theories. This is the strong male role model men are supposed to look up to,? Even when he debated with the gay Steven Fry he descended into an effeminate mess of tears and Fry said afterwards that Jordan asked him for a hug and a “deep tissue” massage. I’m that sense he is certainly a “man’s man”.
Lol, “without bringing emotion into it” that is hilarious. Haven’t you watched his chats with Steven Fry and others ? He becomes a sobbing mess right in front of them and talks about his “pain”. His obvious rapid mental decline and his embarrassing decline into femininity are just difficult to watch. Physician heal thyself!

I have to humbly disagree about "radical incompetence". I f you look back over the last 40(maybe more) years, BOTH parties are executing the SAME agendas, those of the elite globalists/ cor-pirates.
The simple fact that this man was banned and protested from college campuses, shows how crazy the extremists have become in America. If you don't like what he has to say, don't go to the venue he is speaking at. But my gosh, he seems a very reasonable person.
One of the big things that pisses me off about Trump is that he pushes people away from voting right wing. He lost this election far more than Biden won it. People voting for Biden were voting against Trump, and Trump's attention seeking has been like a smokescreen for the radical right and left to maneuver politically. Basically, Trump can fuck off in my opinion. He basically accelerated the process that you're speaking of on college campuses, making it even harder to dissent in favor of conservatism, or at least bringing liberalism and conservatism into balance on college campuses.
@@variablevolume3059 It's getting worse, and Donald Trump reduced the credibility of conservatism to center-left academics, making it even easier for the radical left to take over universities. That's what I really hate about Trumpism. He not only is anti-conservative in that he discredits the institutions that he's supposed to embody, but by doing things like that he discredits conservatism as a whole to the people that we most desperately need to convince of the value of conservatism. And I don't mean to say that in a way that conservatism is inherently better: I think center left and center right is a great boundary for great ideas to be developed, and right now we're nowhere close to that, and worst of all, a lot of conservative principles have little attention in American politics, like aesthetics. I.e. see Roger Scruton's work. I am registered as an independent, but I'm contemplating registering as a Republican sooner than later so that I can vote against Trump in the Republican primary in 2024, should he campaign to run again.
@@variablevolume3059 I am not disagreeing with you in the slightest. Many college campuses are indeed super far left, and Trump is assisting in making that problem worse.
Basically, I think if you can come out as friends or can be respectful to each other to an extent would be a win. Because no matter what, the same liberal VS. conservative arguments we have now will continue long after we are dead. So we might as well not sweat it as much. Don't let it ruin friend ships. I have a friend who is a bit more moderate to conservative but we share great conversation and share perspective. Because it's either yours a bigot conservative or a blue haired raging liberal. @J J Instead of just resorting to name-calling, which is sadly all too typical of the left today when it lacks a decent counter argument of its own, could you give an example of something that Jordan Peterson has ever said that's wrong?
@J J So I asked you to tell me something he's ever said that's wrong, and you go on a political rant with all the gusto of a typically over emotional left winger, as well as throw in yet more sarcasm and abuse. @Kirk Mulder people who love him? No you're wrong they simply support but naive ways But of course we know every single supporter of Hillary Clinton is naive.
Yes and no. Hillary was in some ways the 'incumbent'. She led the incumbent party, she had been in power with her husband previously and she'd been part of the incumbent government. So, she was a largely known quantity. In a way, the election was a referendum on the incumbent party and she sold herself poorly. However, it's not enough to be anti-incumbent. The challenger has to sell him or herself as credible. Trump sold himself as a credible alternative. A man who could get things done. So, Hillary gave Trump an opening, but he exploited it.

Just check out his channel, his daughter tells it all clearly. In Short, her mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer last year. With various complications apparently. She's still with us, but it hit Jordan hard. He was proscribed a certain anti depressant which is highly physically addictive. Also, the medicine had an adverse effect on his well being, aggravating his condition to the point of suicidal thoughts. He has been fighting his depression for years. It seem to run in his family. The prospect of loosing his wife was simply to much to bare. So he basically had a couple of close brushes with death itself in Russia, battling the physical and mental damage of the medicine and pneumonia. He is recovering and doing less bad, but has to deal with neurological damage.
Interesting proposition on the role of government: its main goal should be ‘cause the least harm possible’ . It shouldn’t concern itself with doing the right thing but avoiding the wrong thing.
Plays nicely off of Winston Churchill's "democracy is the worst form of government - except for all the others!" I definitely agree the best thing you can hope to expect from government is to do the least amount of damage possible. Anything better than that is a bonus. The Founding Fathers realized this - which is why they crafted three branches with checks and balances on each other.
I would like to think that just about every one of us in the US can agree on THAT. Maybe we should start a new political party based solely on that: The Anti-Stupid War Party. Its single greatest accomplishment would be that.
i would disagree that the US is not more polarized than 60 years ago. Johnson in 64 got 60% of the vote. Reagan in 84 got 60% of the vote. it is inconceivable now that such wide swings can occur. The two sides now see themselves as having nothing in common, no basis on which to co-exist with the other. An attitude, I think, which is not illegitimate.

What I enjoy about Jordan Peterson most of all is his ability to think analytically, not emotionally. I think so much of the reason that we consider nations like the U.S. to be so 'polarized' is that so much of media now is motivated by emotion rather than actually taking a moment to consider what has just happened. In other words, knee jerk reaction headlines and reporting that is really supporting reactionary thinking. In Canada, Peterson seems to infuriate most of the Canadian media representatives because he always thinks and speaks analytically and this goes against the current concept of what we call 'news'.
He's wound tight. His analysis is at base superficial and he is constantly emotive. Tautologies are typical of his rhetoric. Here, he is rather reasonable, but says nothing of note. Anyone who has actually bothered to research Trump, knows he is complex, has a background in business, was a centrist Democrat on social policy and was critical of Obama's foreign policy (what little there was) and probably resembles best, an Eisenhower Republican.
the nation is in fact not polarized. the majority (most often silent and comprising all races/backgrounds) of people are outstandingly conservative. Last time i checked, most citizens believed in God and held deeply felt convictions w/ respect to morality and standards of decency. a strong economy is infinitely preferred to one of stagnation and zero growth. most want their children educated in those ways that encourage Christ's teaching of gentleness and love. anyone have a problem w/ these?
@MichaelKingsfordGray grow up? Do you suppose one should only admire people whom you agree 100% with ? You are the one being immature. And you didn't even gave a logical argument or evidence for anything that you claimed.
He says that people are less polarized than under Nixon or Reaggan and that it is nice he doesn't start a war. Which is fine but says nothing about Trump. He calls Trump strange and "ideosyncratic". The situation in North Korea is bad but it COULD BE WORSE. COULD BE WORSE, is all he said. It could be worse but he just proves that he has no clear standpoint. This is fine for me but how could he convince anyone like that? Maybe it is enough for Canada. Maybe he won't engage in a stupid war but still overrated.

i feel like he is too humble, i imagine he wouldn't be so narcissistic as to think he was the best person qualified to run an entire country, and in other interviews he says how he hates that he's been dragged into politics
liberal in countries other than america are not necessarily the leftist parties. As he said in the interview in canada the liberals were meant to be a centrist party, and in australia they are pretty much central too
Under the classical, pre-1960's American definition of liberal, then Trump certainly is a liberal. In most places, "Liberal" is a conservative term, referencing such concepts as free-trade, not a Left-wing political ideology, as it was appropriated by 1960's Americans.

@@naveed210 I think it his meaning of disagreeable that you might be misunderstanding. What we ran from, saw, heard, smelled, and experienced as we pushed through crowds and ran for our lives from the collapsing towers-the first, then the second-as we tried to get home with police stopping us at every way in and bloody, ash-covered bodies running past us-has become common knowledge in the past decade. The teacher spoke up: “That reminds me. Gamely, I lifted my legs over my head, and suddenly pffft! I didn’t have time to even think about holding it in: The rogue toot reverberated throughout the studio. I began panicking, wondering how I would get home to my apartment building on the other side of the Towers where my elderly grandparents also lived. Each one of us, about ten in a group, has to swim beside a boat. It was my first-ever yoga class: 90 minutes for beginners at the Y. Give up! Come on, get in the boat!” On the third lap, I start to get delirious. Yogis can have a sense of humor. As the stink lingered, I was mortified; the source was pretty obvious to all. On the second lap, the boys who had already given up yell at me from the boat, “Come on! You don’t need to do this. If at any point you need to give up, you get inside the boat. We start in. Then he jumps in the water and grabs me by the arm, and I think, It must be something dangerous because he’s trying to pull me out. Then, my neighbor and her 13-year-old son appeared in the doorway, arriving late for the day after an appointment, to walk me home. It’s smart to avoid eating for several hours before class.” I couldn’t wait to leave; who’s so Zen he can’t laugh off a fart? A mere eight years later, I finally found the guts to go to another class. But I look way out in front of me, about two football lengths, and I see other kids getting out of the water. My arms feel like spaghetti, and I almost can’t move anymore. I remember parents rushing in to pull out their children amid the chaos. Then he slaps me in the face and says, “N--, who told you that you could get in the pool?” I was 12 years old, sitting in school three blocks away from the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, when the planes hit the twin towers. As I unrolled my mat, one joked, “Well, don’t sit next to us!” I grinned back, reveling in my full disclosure, and got ready for class. And then, dead silence. One time, I’m swimming in the deep end of the pool by myself, and I hear one of the lifeguards yell out, “You! You! Get outta that water! Get outta that water right now!” He is so frantic, I think there must be a snake or a snapping turtle. We left just minutes before the first tower collapsed. And it was actually going okay until about 20 minutes in, when it was time for a series of poses on our backs. I get out of the pool. One of the final activities at the camp is the mile swim. I’m an avid runner, and when you pass gas during a group run, there’s a collective laugh, and someone might call you out, but you keep on. Here, everyone - my disingenuous self included - looked around for the guilty party. Our teachers had us all gather in the cafeteria. I am the only black Boy Scout eligible to try out for it. As soon as we finish the first lap, half the boys have given up and gotten in the boat. I survived, but that morning was just the beginning of my trauma. I’m 11 years old. He’s trying to save me. Upon entering the studio, I immediately confessed to a few women: “This is the first time I’ve been to yoga since 2003, because last time, I farted.” Everyone cracked up. I knew nothing about the practice, so when the male instructor announced the poses, I was like, “What in the hell is warrior what?” I just wanted to release my type A tendencies while folding myself into a pretzel. Three laps around this big lake equals one mile.

If people, in other words, society isn't the responsible for the polarization who its? The president? Really? C'mon. That's why USA people have failed. They want to point with the finger to each other the responsibility. The media create hate and people buy it. Their own citizens are full of hate. They just don't care real things, prefer some etiquette instead.
I think the issue of polarization stems from those on both sides gaining value through identity. It's an attention thing. People are awarded for bad forms of attention as much as good, so to be able to craft your own identity based on another's actions gives you validity without taking responsibility.

I've been listening more to this guy, mostly to get a bigger picture of who he is as a person, given how much people are vocal about their hatred of him on sites like twitter. I've been told he "led people to the alt right," and for that he "deserves to suffer." Yet he seems like a pretty sensible guy. Maybe less sensible in regard to his personal issues, but given that he has issues with his mental health, that's kind of to be expected. I'm in a similar boat, albeit the metaphorical weather is less extreme in my little world, when compared with his. But he seems like a very perceptive observer. He isn't anti-lgbt, as people have painted him. He certainly is no where near to being "alt right," whatever that specific label means these days. I'm not sure how people could watch his content, and move further right, to be honest. It doesn't make much sense to me. He seems very centrist, but I guess that's people's problem with him.

The challenger has to sell him or herself as credible. Trump sold himself as a credible alternative. A man who could get things done. So, Hillary gave Trump an opening, but he exploited it.

Supposedly in tough shape but now starting to heal. Crazy stuff.

Kimberly Hudon yes. Sad but true
The Founding Fathers realized this - which is why they crafted three branches with checks and balances on each other.

i would disagree that the US is not more polarized than 60 years ago.

Anyone who has actually bothered to research Trump, knows he is complex, has a background in business, was a centrist Democrat on social policy and was critical of Obama's foreign policy (what little there was) and probably resembles best, an Eisenhower Republican.
we need a generation of logical, non-hysterical politicians like Peterson. To me he is the epitome of what Plato's Patrician class would be.
the nation is in fact not polarized. the majority (most often silent and comprising all races/backgrounds) of people are outstandingly conservative.

He says that people are less polarized than under Nixon or Reaggan and that it is nice he doesn't start a war. Which is fine but says nothing about Trump. He calls Trump strange and "ideosyncratic". The situation in North Korea is bad but it COULD BE WORSE. COULD BE WORSE, is all he said. It could be worse but he just proves that he has no clear standpoint. This is fine for me but how could he convince anyone like that? Maybe it is enough for Canada. Maybe he won't engage in a stupid war but still overrated.

"Entrepreneurial types tend to be liberal" is a fantastical mis-statement.
I think that he meant liberal in a more classical sense (free market values, low taxes, ext)

You spelt libertarian wrong.
@Ceej Brit. Your interpretation of what he said is fantastical in its misunderstanding.
Under the classical, pre-1960's American definition of liberal, then Trump certainly is a liberal. In most places, "Liberal" is a conservative term, referencing such concepts as free-trade, not a Left-wing political ideology, as it was appropriated by 1960's Americans.

Peterson’s work on social/individual/philosophical is really good, his comments on politics are questionable no doubt.
@@naveed210 I think it his meaning of disagreeable that you might be misunderstanding. But it’s very different to live through it in real-time as a child, with no idea if we would be killed in an instant, what was going to happen next, and if the world was going to end before I could see my family again and say goodbye. Give up! Come on, get in the boat!”
On the third lap, I start to get delirious.

That was what everyone said... We were wrong!
Hillary won the majority. The only people that wanted Trump to win were right wing terrorists and all you Russians. Nope. I'm NOT down with any "return to normative incompetence" in politics. Sorry, once one "cleans their room", it's hard to go back.
@Jonathan Wheeler because imperfect people constitute %100 of society. And Democrats are no more capable of producing a leader that is infalable, than Republicans. If you hold politicians to a higher standard than you do yourself, then you can quite easily disregard anything you dont find convenient.

Here I am on 4/1/22 asking myself, did he say "war" and "Chris Rock" too.
Watching this in late 2019, what Peterson said is almost prophetic, especially what he said about Trump being averse to regime change wars.
He just prefers starving populations via sanctions
@@cindyfinlayson4197 Nobody is starving from sanctions. Certain materials are prevented that would aid in certain nations aggressive impulses. Just like FDR did to Japan before the war. Stop.

Be a little intellectually consistent too. Maybe, just maybe the sanctions where only the straw that broke the camels back? The mismanagement ot the economy by Saddam certainly didn't help did it.
But lets hear your proposal then to stop madmen.
Its either
1). Invade the country and killing even more people like we have already done to no effect
2). Do nothing.
Accepting massive amounts of refugees isnt an answer either. America is a post industrial nation. The importation of millions of low skill laborers into a nation with little low skill jobs left isnt a winning formula. Not to mention the travesty of demographic change.
You're just anti Trump. Even when he does something intelligent and pretty damn great. I.e not sending anymore men and women off to die.

Agreed. Trump was optimistic. I rest my case.
"Normative incompetence" and "reasonable stupidity".
Part of the definition of "the swamp". But don't forget the entrenched & incestuously inbreeding career politicians.
Jordan wants "business as usual", which is exactly the opposite of why Trump was voted into office.
Only thing I have heard Dr. Peterson say that I did not agree with. We are 100 percent more divided than ever. Than again this was three years ago and things have changed a lot since then.
"Normative incompetence from politician's" JP
That's the best line I've heard all year
I love his calm demeanor when he answers a question and explains things to a person. The more he does it the discussion becomes a real conversation. I guess this should be the way society should try to talk even they have different opinions on a topic or an issue in order to find a real solution or a common ground to agree with.
He does seem calm here a change from how hostile and angry he seems normally.
if trump's biggest fault is giving legitimacy to trolls, i can live with that.
His biggest fault is that he's an obviously mobbed up criminal.
Robert Slack how?
Robert Slack and Hillary’s was what? Being the mob?
@Dra O, Trump is just taking credit for Obama's work that's just now paying off. Presidents always do this, reap the credit for what their predecessor sowed. Brand new policies don't take effect and create thousands of jobs within a year or two. Trump hasn't done jack shit but watches fox and friends tweet.
trump took over when Obama had created Millions of jobs, the stock market was booming, Wall Street, the Auto Industry thriving...PLUS, negotiations for companies returning and/or expanding....and all he's doing sitting on his laurels and reaping the benefits of a continued recovering economy.
Obama's policies brought black unemployment from 16.8 down to 7.8 and Republican's screamed how horrible and too slow it was. Trump's policies have done nothing, the trend continues and drops from 7.8 to 6.8 and Republicans cheer as if it's the greatest thing that ever happened. I'm really getting sick of this nonsense. It takes a minute to realize. Neither of these guys are American.
@william hunter America is not a continent. North America, South America, or The "Americas," are continents. America is a country comprised of 50 states. We are Americans. Not United Statesians. We are not Canada, nor are we Mexico or Brazil.
America is the country in North America populated with Americans.
er so Mmmm, no. America is not a country, although the U.S. is referred to as America and its people are referred to as Americans. But I think that is only a thing in the English language, because in Spanish they are “estadounidenses”, equivalent to what would be “unitedstatens”.
Edit: I see Americans are called like so in many languages, nonetheless I’ve never heard that the United States of America could be officially only called America since there are two continents, as you said, called America
@@albertoanayav No. America is the name of my country. This is not debated. This is you learning an actual fact.

When the people making the money ( banks when you ask fora loan) have no skin in the game, they get everything for nothing, and then ,charge interest on it for a investment that cost them nothing!

At what point, then, is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. Reasonable stupidity is our goal. Whatever direction it goes, we can count on it.
Not living in the States all I see is how little power an elected president has. You vote for a man to change your country and when he tries he is thwarted by opposition, so why have a president at all.
because all us little tax-paying producers need a figurehead so we don't start questioning where the actual manipulation is and revolt against the true tyranny
These are probably the most diplomatic things I've ever heard someone say about the current POTUS, and I'm pretty sure this exact attitude is what we need more of -- on both sides of the spectrum.
Racist dog whistles, calling for violence against the Free Press, constant name-calling, petty insults and frequent ad hominem attacks. I'm not sure that diplomatic comments about an autocratic despotic narcissistic imbecile (Trump) are what's called for. He certainly doesn't hold back when criticizing his adversaries and perceived enemies. Trump has single-handedly lowered the rhetoric to depths unseen in U'S. politics, okay.
I've been listening more to this guy, mostly to get a bigger picture of who he is as a person, given how much people are vocal about their hatred of him on sites like twitter. I've been told he "led people to the alt right," and for that he "deserves to suffer."
Yet he seems like a pretty sensible guy.
Centrists are hated by all, it seems. Leftists, rightist, and by other centrists too.
I hope he recovers fully soon.
Nocturn Owllie, In the United States, the Overton window has shifted so far to the political Left that centrists seem like right-wingers compared to the present-day Left.
Further, we all got older & naturally found ourselves on the other side of the fence. Left wing ageist ideology follows not the logic.
To those who claim JP isn't right wing I always ask the same question: can you name a single political position he's argued for or political philosophy he's espoused that would place him to the left of a typical 1980s Reaganite/Thatcherite anglo-american conservative?
@@dark7element Peterson is *for* universal healthcare, for one. Thatcher wanted to end universal healthcare in the UK.
Your mistake is in comparing him to political figures. He isn't one. He's a clinical psychologist who suffers with such extreme depression that he will try almost anything to get better. Hence the fad diet. Hence the freaky Russian doctor situation. Etc. You can hear as much in his own lectures, in which he tells people to *not refuse* antidepressants, because if you're struggling with deep depression, then "you need to hold onto anything you can to keep going." Paraphrasing a bit, but you can go watch his lectures on depression if you want to understand that better.
He doesn't actually talk politics much at all really. He is much more likely to focus on individuals and what they need to make their lives more palatable. When asked a politically loaded question as to what young people, who are still in education and concerned about the current state of the world, can do to make *big* changes. He answered the question as a psychologist would. He avoided the political aspect, and suggested that they focus on their own lives first.

I think he got it exactly right: Many voted against Clinton, not necessarily for Trump. The same occurred in 2020: Many voted against Trump, not really for Biden.
I think that Trump was underestimated and continues to be underestimated, because everyone focused on his words and not the actions. He worked to complete all his campaign promises during his Presidency and was more successful than the media gave him credit for.
