Dude if you thought that was dope, check out :- Led Zeppelin - Since I've been Loving You - Live at Madison Square Gardens 1973 It's a lesson in Blues Rock
Jimmy Page is an innovator and the best rock and roll guitar player ever, John Bonhum, the drummer was a force of nature, a marvel . All LZ members were unique and each a genius in his area of expertise. There was nobody better and once you start down this rabbit hole you'll never be the same. Have fun.
Jimmy had the double neck made specifically for playing stairway to heaven live. Bass player John Paul Jones has a quad neck for different mandolin and maybe ukelele sounds. All the footage in this video are just random shots of different shows and songs.
Jimmy Page plays a Gibson Custom double neck guitar. The top neck is 12-string and the bottom is a standard 6 string. He plays it on songs that require both. In the studio, he would play the 12 string parts separately from the 6 string and mix the tracks. In live shows, he would use the double neck. Pretty slick. For Led Zep heavy blues, would recommend When the Levee Breaks or In MY Time of Dying. Or, my favorite, Ramble On. If you want to their later songs, try The Song Remains the Same or Fool in the Rain. You really can't wrong.
I'm going to go see Robert Plant on August 13th and 14th 2024 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver, BC Canada tickets were alot but worth it!! Can't wait!!!❤🤘 I seen Robert Plant in 88 and 89 as well in Vancouver and seen Led Zeppelin in 77 and 79
The violin bow was used on several studio tracks on early albums, it is featured prominently on live versions of "Dazed and Confused". Check out Led Zeppelin's magnificent performances in the concert movie "The Song Remains the Same". This is one of the most enjoyable rabbit holes you are likely to enter.
Break Out The Lead Here are just a few examples of Led Zeppelin's power and majesty to blow you away; Kashmir (the definitive Zeppelin song), The Immigrant Song, Since I've Been Loving You, The Gallows Pole, Ramble ON, Dancing Days, Going To California, How Many More Times, I Can't Quit You Baby, When The Levee Breaks, Thank You, Houses Of The Holy, Tangerine, The Rain Song, The Wanton Song, Moby Dick, Heartbreaker, The Ocean, Dazed and Confused, Black Dog, and last but not least, Whole Lotta Love! The band Led Zeppelin was hard to classify. Some labeled them hard rock, others called them metal while others labeled them a rock and roll blues band. In the end, they were a little bit of everything and a whole lot of unlike anybody else. No band has ever matched their sound in a genuine way. Led Zeppelin’s originality stemmed from the mesmerizing vocals of Robert Plant, the phrasings, riffs, and sound effects of Jimmy Page’s guitar work, the intensity and groove of John Bonham’s bass and snare, and the brilliant musicianship of the much underrated John Paul Jones. The merger of these four brilliant musicians resulted in a ten-year period of albums and tours that presented fans with the greatest rock and roll band of all time.
It’s a bow for the violin, he invented the double neck guitar..... all time classic song. The singer and guitarist had deep roots in the blues. For a real great feel for them check out, how many more times, it’s was recorded when they started the band shows the talent each brought to the table. Enjoyed your response!!!!
The twin guitar is kind of a Jimmy Page thing. Also, drummer John Bonham was the GOAT. After he threw up drunk and smothered on his vomit, Led Zeppelin disbanded. I loved them when I was 20 and I love them at 63. Nice job ATI...
There is a reason zeppelin was in the top 100 album sales for most of their carriers. Take a blues band armed with Robert Johnson style lyrics Celtic music and lyrics mixed with rock funk electric acoustic John Bonham drums . you may have favorite songs but all are good. Keep digging
Check out Stairway to Heaven live from MSG for the best guitar solo you’ll ever see! Jimmy murders that double neck! It’s a 12 string on top and 6 on the bottom ✌️
Listen to Brit band Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, he started that band & BB King said his guitar playing gave him the cold sweats & his voice had the sweetest tone. He was known as the Green God, his vibrato was unbelievable. Listen to Man of the World, Green Manalishi with the Two Pronged Crown & Black Magic Woman, all of which he wrote & priduced
Rush uses a double-neck guitar (12-strings and a 6-strings) and a double-neck bass (a bass and a guitar) on the live song “Xanadu”, on their “Exit, Stage Left” tour.
Bow. Traditionally horsehair. Drawn across a violin or cello. Count the pegs (for tuning). 6 string and 12 string guitar necks. For switching between them without having to unplug and unstrap from one guitar to another. Studio version audio with a montage of concert footage edited together for a video.
The double-necked guitar is an EDS-1275. The top neck is 12-string while the bottom is 6-string. They were each set to different tunings so Jimmy Page wouldn't have to switch guitars in the middle of a song. As others have mentioned, other performers have used multi-necked guitars, including Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones who would occasionally use a triple-neck (mandolin on top, 12-string in middle, 6-string bottom). In addition to some of the musicians mentioned, Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen also often used multi-necked guitars. Jimmy used a violin bow on his guitar. He wasn't the first guitarist to do so, however it is most closely associated with him.
It's called a 12 string. And not too common. Lynard skyward used one in freebird I think. The hotel California by the eagles used one. I never get tired of that song. I like ur expression when he said I wanna be ur backdoor man. Lmao
Double neck, six string on top, twelve string bottom. This is just the beginning...you have entered the vortex of Led Zeppelin! If you can do them live all the time. They were great in the studio, but live is where they take off!
“ Gibson guitar company built/designed the double-neck for Jimmy Page to tour with in 1973. But not the first time, Moserite made one for Country music guitar player Joe Maphis in 1968.”
So glad to see your back! You've been Missed... lol I was going thru your past reactions and did not see any "3 Dog Night - Mama Told Me Not To Come (1970)" [Moon Doggy Channel] This band is highly underrated! And they have several great songs to check out, if your interested. I look forward to hearing what you think.. Thanks Take Care and Have a good day.
Robert Plant was the swag master!!!! Boy got more bumper than a body shop😏 Watch some of their live footage from MSG. You’ll see him at his swaggiest. Yes you hear major blues influence. The boys in Zeppelin idolized and emulated the great original American blues masters. Since I’ve Been Loving You When the levee breaks ( the greatest rock song of all time IMHO) Dazed and Confused
Mandatory Led Zeppelin: "Kashmir," "Since I've Been Loving You," "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You," "Immigrant Song," "No Quarter." I could add more, but that should get you started.
You can see The Eagles use a doubleneck neck guitar to great effect on "Hotel California." One neck is a 12 string one is a 6 string. Not commonly used, but not super rare.
Hard Rock and Metal have their roots in the blues. Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Tony Iommi, Ozzy Ozbourne, Bill Ward, John Bonham all were into the blues. Black Sabbath was a blues band called Rare Earth when they first started.
Must do this live from their performance at Madison Square Gardens 1973. It is the finale and the let it rip with Jimmy using a Theramin and flaming gongs.
Actually double neck guitars was first used in the 50s by a few country/ rockabilly guitarist. Like Grady Martin, Joe Maphis and Larry Collins ( who was just a kid then ). Check them out sometime they are all great pickers.
Jimmy used a bow on his strings at times and everyone knows that 12 string was his fav on a lot of songs. Innovator in his own way. You can call their genre popular, heavy metal, psychedelic, folk, and blues rock. This debut song makes a first time listener think they just played crotch rock but they must do their research before judging.
Glad you’re back. Love your no gimmick, intelligent reacting style. If you get a chance would you react to a rock band called The Warning? They’re a power trio made up of 3 sisters from Mexico, currently aged 21, 19, and 16. They’re one of the artists on Metallica’s new “Blacklist” album. After recording 2 albums as independents, they signed a 5 record deal with Lava Records. Their first songs since signing have been dropping over the past couple months. Maybe check out their official videos for their songs Evolve or Disciple, or check out their video with Alessia Cara doing their reimagining of Enter Sandman that they recorded for the Blacklist album. They’re rapidly rising stars and their talent and skills are incredible. Thanks!
some people think that neil peart was the best rock drummer, or the best ever, but i (and many others) give that GOAT to john bonham. just SO good. throw in the best voice in rock with solid bass playing and expert guitar, and you've got led zeppelin, THE hard rock band.
Glad you are back! Can you do some reactions of anything from Dolly Parton? My favorite music will always be R&B, but through research I have learned that many of the songs from this genre are remixes of songs she wrote. Like Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”. Or if you can do reactions to the original versions of popular songs in general, that would be awesome. ❤️
Double neck guitars are heavy!! Oh...rock stars were so hot in the 70s. They could umm "have" anyone they wanted. I had posters in the 70s of a couple.
No, the double-neck guitar was invented year's before but Jimmy Page had this one built to play the song Stairway to Heaven live, the guitar change needed in the song required 2 guitars so... Check out Stairway to Heaven, studio and live versions.

"Talkin' like a pimp." < Is that suppose to be a compliment? A pimp is the lowest form of human life on the planet.

They were, are and WILL ALWAYS BE the ultimate rock band…
Next recommended Led Zeppelin song:
“Babe I’m Gonna Leave You”
You hear Jim Paige’s love for flamenco guitar all throughout that song.
STUDIO VERSION FIRST !!!
it's PAGE, and flamenco guitar...HUH?
You can go for miles with Zeppelin. EVERYTHING they did was masterful.
Welcome back. More Led Zeppelin please!

“I CAN’T QUIT YOU BABY” is absolute fire!🔥
Gotta watch their live performances!! Greatest band in history!
More Led Zeppelin
Great review bro...Whole Lotta Love recently voted best rock riff ever!!!
More zeppelin please ❤

It's a cello bow not violin. A cello bow is at least a third longer in size.
Yep the ladies loved them for sure and they loved them back 😉
more zeppelin!!!
Led Zepplin, mother was the blues,
Father was electric guitar. You can hear both in this song.
The twin guitar is kind of a Jimmy Page thing. Also, drummer John Bonham was the GOAT. After he threw up drunk and smothered on his vomit, Led Zeppelin disbanded. I loved them when I was 20 and I love them at 63. Nice job ATI...
don't be afraid of that volume control!
Appreciate the comment Sam! Was the music to loud, voice too loud etc?
@@abovetheinfluence9361 music not loud enough! ;-)
@@samuelmregister As Skynyrd says ... "Turn it up!" 😎😉
Rock Gods! The Best Ever!
The best song for hearing Jimmy play with the bow, check out DAZED and CONFUSED. It's blues rock and when you're confused, you know he's using a bow.
John Bonham (drummer) was big into jazz and RnB, the swing he brought to Zep!
There is a reason zeppelin was in the top 100 album sales for most of their carriers. Take a blues band armed with Robert Johnson style lyrics Celtic music and lyrics mixed with rock funk electric acoustic John Bonham drums . you may have favorite songs but all are good. Keep digging

Please do more Zepp!! You'll have a lot of views
I’ve Heard Jimmy Page, the guitarist, say that he tuned the 12 string and the 6 string differently.
Thats INSANE skill right there to be able to go back and forth between two differently tuned settings!
That's right
@@abovetheinfluence9361 Jimmy is the greatest guitarist on the planet!
Yeah, he left the 12-string at standard tuning. But he changed the six string down to a different tuning for the Rain song.
Rush uses a double-neck guitar (12-strings and a 6-strings) and a double-neck bass (a bass and a guitar) on the live song “Xanadu”, on their “Exit, Stage Left” tour.

You gotta react to any of them live performances. Especially ‘stairway to heaven’ or ‘since I’ve been loving you’
You have to react to "In my Time of Dying"- Led Zeppelin live at Earl's Court
Da GOATS!!!!!! 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Led Zeppelin were way way before Zimmer. This was in 1970
The double-necked guitar is an EDS-1275. The top neck is 12-string while the bottom is 6-string. Much love brother.
The song was heavily based on Muddy Waters YOU NEED LOVE but LZEP definatley put their own sound to it and made a huge classic

Not gonna lie Debbie it caught me off guard LOL!
The double neck was pretty popular in the 70's, it started to fade away after that, I saw a few bands use it in the 80's but not many.

“ Gibson guitar company built/designed the double-neck for Jimmy Page to tour with in 1973. But not the first time, Moserite made one for Country music guitar player Joe Maphis in 1968.”

In the Blues a "Back Door Man" was the lover leaving out the back door as the husband entered through the front door.
But not in this case.
@@grahamfay2473 Yes, in this case! LZ was heavily influenced by the blues.
A studio track with unrelated live footage. But of course amazing. Maybe the first time I heard pre-echo?
If I'm not mistaken, the top neck was a twelve string, tuned for rhythm, the bottom neck a standard six string for more high end.
Rush also used double neck guitars. Check Xanadu from Exit Stage Left. Both the guitarist Alex Lifeson and the bassist Geddy Lee have double necks.
