LED ZEPPELIN was the first concert I ever went to when I was 15 yrs old in 1978. You couldn't fit another person into the stadium when they played. It was fun!! Jon Bonham was one of the best drummers, ever. He died in 1980 at 32 yrs old (accidental death...such a tragedy).

I saw them in Houston Texas back in 1969. This is one of the songs they perform and it rocked the house. What a memory. Tickets were $6.00. Jimmy page the guitarist was in his teens at the times , and the drummer was phenomenal. Plant has an an amazing voice. Led Zeppelin was from England. Notice they are not using vulgar words, but more creative with their words. What a thrill.

The concert is from 1969…..54 years ago. But then again, their music always was about 50 years ahead of it’s time. I feel like they are timeless ! People that are huge rock fans say Bonham was arguably the greatest drummer ever, and the same is said about Robert Plant on vocals, and Jimmy Page on guitar. Their raw talent was overwhelming !

I miss living in an era of popular music where acts were valued for their musicianship, songwriting, creativity, and talent... not their attitude, tattoos, and social media presence. From 1968-72, Led Zeppelin was forging new ground with every new album. As much as I love their stuff from "Physical Graffiti" on, the stuff on their first 5 albums was ripping open the genre of blues-based rock and roll. Nobody could touch them.

I started listening to Led Zeppelin a long, long time ago! My best friend and I would listen to Led Zeppelin, and Steppenwolf in grade school back in 1969-70! My mom didn't approve of us listening to them!
Uhh...the meaning of the song was exactly what you thought it was...plain and simple!!! As for this specific concert...it's hard to know...but they were so popular...their concerts were always sold out. I was too young at that time...I'm only 64...so you are probably looking at folks in their early to mid 70's who went to their concerts. You might find some in their late 60's who were in high school who saw them in concert!
Did you already react to "Stairway to Heaven?" That song is 50 plus years old and is still being played on the radio....it's timeless!
After you get through with listening to these guys, you need to listen to Jimmy Hendrix!

That was awesome!!! As others have said "back door man" was the guy who came in the back door as the husband left out the front.... HOWEVER, with Led Zeppelin (and a lot of "Rock" lyrics) it's a double entendre.... it was a way to sneak the "naughty" into the songs..... you got the meaning correct!! 😉😁😂 If you want another "Fun" song (every Zep song is phenomenal).... check out "THE LEMON SONG".... It's a killer tune and you'll REALLY get a kick out of the lyrics in that one too!!!! Great reaction and LOVE seeing your appreciation for these legends..... looks as though you're starting to understand why they're considered legends now!!! 🤗

Some of the footage was shot at Madison Square Garden in 1973. The crowd was more than likely around 18000.
Almost all videos of Led Zeppelin were remastered by Jimmy Page using studio recorded music showing live video footage. To include the entire live movie The Song Remains the Same. For those fans of Led Zeppelin if you look closely you will see that most footage was shot in the studio and portrayed as live concert footage. Totally understandable given the year and the fact that John Bonham died in 1980.
Great job on the commentary by the way absolutely fantastic. Joseph Alexander Milne. J.A.M. . . . ~

The effects of the sound going back and forth in your head like that is thanks to the efforts of Jimmy Page (guitarist & producer) and Eddie Kramer (engineer), who constructed that middle section out of many different elements to create that swirling tour de force that whirls around in your head. And you didn't even hear the complete album version; this was the one they cut for the video.

You asked about concert attendance - after a handful of concerts right after forming, when they were billed as "The New Yardbirds" in order to complete some contractual obligations Jimmy Page had from his days playing with The Yardbirds, Led Zeppelin never had anything but sold out concerts. And they toured A TON. But they were still never able to meet the demand to see them live. They were especially known for playing 3 nights in a row in Madison Square Garden and selling out every night. No other band could do that - not the Beatles, not The Stones... nobody.

Robert Plant has the most famous hair in rock and roll. I love the hop he always does when he's into the music. You need to listen to Kennedy Center Honors (a lifetime achievement award) Led Zeppelin. President Obama and Michelle are in the audience as well as Led Zeppelin. They honor them with a performance of "Stairway to Heaven" that is completely off the chain! Please react to it. It'll blow you away. 😊

This is the original studio version of the song with live clips from various concerts over the years for the video, so it is NOT a live recording. The original song was released in 1969. Back door man actually means something different here in the US than in the UK, where the meaning is not so adult-oriented. There is definitely some sexual innuendo in this song, but if you think THIS is "baby-making music", you need to listen to The Lemon Song...it makes this song seem tame by comparison!

It's the "original studio version"...minus 44 seconds, that is. Criminally, this video has cut out a huge chunk of the psychedelic bridge. How this is on the official Zep channel is beyond comprehension. You sound like a big fan, Larry, I'm surprised you didn't notice the butchery.

Whoever was at that stadium show is in there 60s right now. I'm 58 and I was too young then. I had a deposit on led zeppelin tickets when the drummer John Bonham died. So I never got to see them live.

They are called led zeppelin because they had a meeting with label executive and he hated them. He said they would go down like a lead zeppelin. They ran with it

The bit where you said about the planes and everything going on at once is meant to 'sound' what an orgasm 'feels' like. And yes he meant every inch of his love!

That video, was a compilation of a few different concerts, to make up the, "official studio release". The actual recording, was released, I believe, in 1969. (And is a little longer.) If you want to see the best live version (over 13 min long) it's on a DVD, titled: The Song Remains the Same, filmed during a concert at Madison Square Gardens in 1973. (Peace out.) P. S. If you want to know what other good songs they have . . . Start at the beginning of, album 1. When you get into number 7 or 8 . . . We can talk.
