Hi INFP here.. definitely # 4 Enneagram . Authenticity is very important because it makes me feel safer & that exist. I feel useful this way. If I can’t ..I get depressed or angry with my self. I used to be Enneagram 9 most of my childhood life. Thanks for the useful in formation keep it up.
Thank you I'm glad you found it useful! I like how you highlight the need for authenticity and its connection to a feeling of safety and existence. Thank you for sharing your experience! 🤗
@@TrueYouSystems yes, and I think the traits of 9 that is conforming to others, isn't really our core trait, I think it's more of INFJ's... because we normally wouldn't tolerate if people do things that we oppose / dislike from the bottom of our heart! although sure, we'd tolerate as long as it doesn't cross our value, but once it touches our core, there's no going back XD and yes, I do think INFPs are literally contradictions, we're one or the other simultaneously but we're never in between lol
Great video! When I started learning the Enneagram and realized I'm a 4w5 INFP, I started to realize that a lot of the INFP videos on RUclips were actually describing traits of a Type 4 and occasionally Traits of a Type 9. So, it's great to see someone addressing the crossover! I do think it's worth mentioning that INFPs may often have characteristics of both types 4 and 9. On both the Enneagram tests I took, I scored very high with Type 9 too. While I'm definitely a 4 and tend to dwell on emotions and drama, there are a lot of times I'll stay silent to keep the peace. I will say that I personally like to analyze how MBTI character traits arise from the cognitive functions, rather than simply saying that INFPs tend to have so-and-such traits. But, if you're trying to keep this more beginner friendly, I don't blame you for not addressing it.
Thank you! So glad you liked it! I totally agree with you that many INFPs share traits from both 4 and 9. This could be true because 4 and 9 have some commonalities -- both, for example, are part of the "withdrawing triad" along with type 5 (these were the focus of my dating advice for introverts video). It could also be because you have both 4 and 9 in your tritype! Thanks so much for sharing your experience and insight! 🤗
Interesting! I can see how a 5 would be helpful in finding systems that help to simplify a work process. 5s often like to solve some sort of puzzle or problem. Thanks for sharing! 🤗
One thing someone told me before as an INFP, was that they thought I was a hypocrite. This 1 insult has stuck in my head for over 30 years, not because who it was that said that to me, but just the realization that I can get along and understand alot of different people with true heartfelt empathy for others emotions, but also wish to avoid conflict...this has always confused me, wracked my brain. I guess to some people infps can come off that way to some which really can confuse others, I don't know, just putting it out there, always wondered if my fellow infps have run into this before as well???
Well said, and I'm glad you brought this up. Often, other Enneagram types can make it hard to really understand what is motivating a different type and then ascribe a sometimes hurtful motivation onto someone else. It's so helpful to hear what it's actually like to be an INFP to help expand our deeper understanding. Thanks so much for sharing your experience! 🤗
Well, I think I'm both 4 and 9. It's because depending on the situation how I become more authentic or harmonize with other people. Some day I lean to 4 and some day I lean to 9 and there are days that I could be both wanting to harmonize but be authentic at the same time. It sounds confusing but human is really that complex, actually.
Great point!! We are all so complex and there are also many layers to these systems that help explore that complexity 😊 It's possible you use both types in your Tritype (a mixture of three different types from each center of intelligence). So when you use your feeling center, and have a need for having your identity affirmed, you use 4. And when you use your instinct center, and want to not be overlooked but feel harmony, you use 9. That would leave your thinking center (5, 6 or 7) and figuring out which pattern you use most when wanting to feel certain and secure. Hope this is helpful! Thanks for the great comment!
@@TrueYouSystemsi have a question is there any difference between 548 or 584? I had in every test i did higher 8s results than 4s but after researching it should be head-heart-gut?
I am a 9 with people I care for only, or someone who obviously seems like a really good person. But I am definitely a 4 because I’d rather understand myself the best and be my true self first to be there for other people and help others. I’m not a negative person at all and I do always seek positivity, but I believe being unrealistically positive will guide someone to the wrong path so being cautious is very important.
9s are really sweet caring people, but any enneagram type can be caring or helpful! 😄And this definitely includes 4s🤗The question is, in what ways does someone care and help and why do they do it? If the motivation and fixation is more centered around needing to be authentic and affirmed for being different, that's more 4. If the fixation is centered around needing harmony and not feeling conflict, that's more 9🙂 Hope this is helpful! Thanks for deepening the conversation!
I love the song, awesome video I'm a 4w5. I see some 9 traits when forcing myself to charge when having to deal with people most times when I was younger. 😅 just fit in way exhausting, people want to talk, waste of time then we're the bad for seeing a issue. 😅
I loved this video!! I related a lot to 4 traits mostly but also a bit to some 9 traits. Then I remembered I took an enneagram test a whiiile ago and checked the results : I had a 4w5. There were also several points where I could feel myself relate to both 4 and 9, for instance I am indeed really big on authenticity (I refuse to be anything else than me) and if I disagree with something because it's not me, I will want to let that be known but at the same time I try to force myself in group settings for important work to go along with the group and keep the peace (while still at least saying that I wouldn't do it this or that way, etc.). I'd also say I'm usually the one to try to find the middle ground between two opposing opinions. When there's something I feel about strongly, I stick to it but there are also many things I've no set opinion on... What really hit is when you said 4s tend to want to intensify deep feelings. Today I literally took out a box of old scripts of musicals I was in to re-read and reenact them because I just feel so nostalgic of the past now that I'm in my upper studies.
Thank you!! So happy you liked it! There's so many great examples here! I especially love the last one! All so well said and explained. Thank you for sharing!🤗
wow, aside from being insightful, the editing and the dress up is so impressive!! didn't expect to want to watch it, I usually just listen to these psychology breakdowns as if they were podcasts.. well done!!
INFP 4 & 9 both describe me. It’s like an eternal conflict inside of me if I’m gonna react as a 4 or a 9 😅 lol Thanks for making this video it has really helped me to understand myself a lot more ❤.
Aww! Haha! Both types have so many incredible gifts though too! It may be you have both types in your Tritype and that depending on the circumstances you lean on one pattern or another 😊 Thank you! so happy you liked and this is helping you understand yourself more deeply 🤗🥰 Thank you for sharing your experience!!
Im an infp 9 and i will straight up say i dont like the movie and why. Or if i liked it the movie, id be telling people why they should like it too, or the good parts at least lol. But i definitely would be trying to act cool and keep up with the conversation because i wouldn't want to be left out or feel out or uncomfortable. This is generally why I'd rather stay home than have to socialize
I really like your description and how you added not wanting to be left out or uncomfortable -- so well said! Thank you for sharing your personal experience and how type 9 presents for you! I appreciate you adding depth to our understanding of type 9 🤗
I really like your presentation of information. They are accurate, the organization is captivating and really pleasant and calming to watch. I related to all of the 4 traits, the funniest one is me listening to old songs to feel sad, or just the feeling of stress that a song brings that was heard during a stressful time. I love your knowledge on these systems. Lots of love
Thank you so much for the feedback! I'm really glad it resonated for you and you enjoyed it🤗 I always love hearing your experiences and perspective. And your very kind words! It's such a gift, thank you🤗 Lots of love to you💓
They are two different traits, but they are not mutually exclusive. We can care about the well-being of everyone without letting them tell us how to live our lives. It just makes sense to care about the good of all. - INFP 9
Really interesting. Both my daughter and I are INFP, but with some big differences. She is the peacemaker or type 9. I am more authentic and fall into type 4. A lot of what you said is weirdly accurate. My daughter is the one who tries to do something to make herself feel better. I tend to feel what I feel. While not 100% accurate, I think you are onto something with this MBTI and ENNAGRAM combination.i watched your RUclips on INTJ and Entagram types. My son is a solid INTP and fits most of a 5, but he does get seriously annoyed at stupidity similar to a 1. Interesting. I hope you create more along these lines.
Thank you! So happy you found it interesting and relevant! These are such great examples of how INFP can manifest so differently depending on the enneagram type!! Thank you for sharing and adding depth and nuance to our understanding! 🤗
Very nice and comprehensive explanation :) seems like I tend to N.9 Also your plants captured my attention ^^ as with each transition they grew or moved and shrank again :D the background felt more alive with it :D
Thank you! So happy that this was helpful for knowing more about being a Type 9! Haha glad you appreciate my plants, they have a mind of their own 😉Thanks for sharing! 🤗
I empathize with you 💓 That's really hard to be experiencing and then having to hold it all in on top of that. The Enneagram can be helpful in recognizing these patterns and how they affect us as well as other people's patterns and how they affect us too. It can also be helpful in creating positive change. Thank you for sharing. Reach out to me any time 💓 You and your needs matter.
Interesting! I, N, and P are all common for Type 5, but F is less so than T. Fives do sometimes get F on the MBTI test, though most often it's close to the center of the F/T spectrum. It's also possible for 4s who are particularly intellectual to identify initially with Type 5, since they share many traits in common with 5s. Ultimately, the key thing that distinguishes the types is internal motivation: Is it a desire to be competent, gain knowledge, and avoid intrusions (5s) or a desire to be authentic, express a unique identity, and discover and share hidden beauty and meaning (4s)? I've got a whole video about the differences between 4s and 5s here: ruclips.net/video/VyNjffC2Bxg/видео.htmlsi=a7LuBub3apb_dr9R And a bunch of 5-related videos here: ruclips.net/p/PLvu3Mso64sssQcbaSPn-76lintG1VwLvB I'd love to hear more of your thoughts! Thanks for sharing! 🤗
INFP 5w6 here as well. From my test results, I'm rather balanced between wings 4 and 6 but 6 edges out 4 by a bit. I crave to be competent and relevant. I love to gain knowledge and understand the world, I want to be original and authentic, but I also crave security because life has not exactly been smooth and I understand the importance of structure and people. I'm rather organized in my process and love science and arts just about equally, but I mostly apply science to arts. Do you relate to any of these? I'd love to hear back from you. Cheers!
Hi! I’m an INFP and I really relate to most of what you said about the 9, still I find that growing up(I ‘m 28) I’m showing more traits associated with 4 and I’m becoming more at ease with myself and my surroundings
I love how you describe your evolution! The ways in which our personalities change over time is a super interesting topic, and I'd love to do a whole video about that 😀 Thanks for sharing your experience and perspective! 🤗
this is a great PSA for distinguishing the two! it's super common for INFP's to be confused if they are a 49X or 94X, one of the most common confusions for them, I'd say start here and then if they still aren't sure, then proceed to looking at real examples and compare. The difficulty is, if you are kind of a bit both at the same time or flip flop between the two, measuring such an abstract thing can be difficult- so comparing how you come across compared to people of a very specific tritype ordering is super helpful. (only example I can think of for 49(7) is Johnny Depp, for 94X idk anyone that is super famous)
Thank you so much!🤗 Interesting solution for trying to determine a dominant type within a Tritype!😄 I often suggest trying to really focus in on the driving fixation. Is it more a need to be significant, special, and deep (and then feel self consciousness and shame when others don't see them this way?) or to be in harmony, avoid conflict, and prevent discord (while feeling under the surface passive aggressive anger and frustration with being forced to not be at peace?) While many infps relate to this whole list, one fixation is often more present😊. Thanks for sharing your ideas!! 🤗🤗
Great video and wonderful editing! 👌🏻 I’m allegedly a type 5 enneagram known as the Sage also as the investigator but am also most definitely an INFP-A Have you ever heard of, read about, or experienced in your ten years of sundry MBTI & Enneagram studies an INFP-A that is type 5 sage/investigator enneagram?
Oh yeah, forgot to mention, this MBTI Enneagram hybrid video, if you will, has been one of the most simple, straightforward explanations of the rarity and uniqueness that are INFPs and for that I’m grateful! After having watched this video of yours, an insightful, illuminating enlightenment has dawned upon me. I love how the MBTI is like broad and sweeping stokes of “personality knowledge” that gets ya started on the path of self-discovery of knowing who you really are. Then the enneagram, I feel, cranks it up a bit and digs deeper below the superficial outer trappings and compliments the MBTI so perfectly! If the MBTI is a broad, sweeping paint brush that focuses on big pictures and big ideas like the fourth letter perceiving type, the enneagram “test” is a fine tip pen concerned with details and precision that are personable to each and every MB personality type. This video has been instrumental in me doubling down on pressing further and digging deeper into my emotional psychological studies and unraveling the deep truths and mysteries that are to be unlocked thanks to enneagram types competing and working in harmony 😉 😂 with MBTI. Thanks again
Great question! 5s can definitely get INFP on the MBTI, but they tend to lean towards T over F. Often if they get F, it's not super strongly so -- remember, each letter pair in the MBTI is a spectrum, and a lot of people are close to the middle on at least one of them. But there is also a huge amount of diversity within each MBTI type and each Enneagram type, and each of us is a unique individual (not just 4s! 😅) Thanks again for enriching the discussion! 🤗
Thank you, this is so lovely to hear! I'm really glad you found the video helpful. You might enjoy my 5w4 vs 4w5 video, and some of my others in that general topic area -- I recently added playlists, so you can check that our on my channel page. I agree with you that Enneagram can go a bit deeper than MBTI, but I still find MBTI very helpful in describing things that the Enneagram doesn't -- ultimately, both are valuable, in my opinion, and complement each other well, which is why I like to look at them together. Stay tuned for more 😊 Thanks again! 🤗
what about an INFP 2w1? I believe I am a 2w1 INFP Enneagram type 4s and 9 are not the only INFP's to exist, they are the most common yes, not the only ones to exist
Absolutely! Like I say at the end of the video, there are other enneagram types that can be infps just at a lower rate in the population, including 2s 😊 Thanks for sharing!
Omg. I'm slightly both but I'm So an info 4 I’ve always mistyped but when I stumbled on infp last year everything clicked except the fact that they say I like I color. I like some color but I’m huge on earthy with metallic accents.
Interesting! In the Enneagram, 4s can enjoy any types of colors or lack of color 😊 But what 4s have in common is that they are often very attuned to esthetics and have strong connections and feelings around how something looks. Hope this is helpful! Thanks for sharing!
You're not a mess at all! We have elements of all the types, just to a greater or lesser degree 🙂 We tend to be a mixture of 3 main types, one from each center of intelligence (feeling/heart, thinking/head, and instinct/gut) which together make up our tritype, plus wings (elements of the adjacent types). What can be helpful when it seems like you have characteristics of several different types is to go back to look at both the motivation and fears that each type has, and then see what resonates most -- not just what behaviors we sometimes do. One thing that may be happening is that the assessment of being a 5 may come from a test, and tests for the Enneagram often are off base since they don't always focus on how to know what the motivation is. Often 9s have the most ability to see themselves in every type -- I have a video on this (2 Reasons You Can't Find Your Enneagram Type) that you may find helpful 😊 There are so many layers to who we are and to these systems! Hope this can be a helpful start in exploring more, thanks so much for the great comment!
I'm a 1w2 and 1s are idealists and reformers. I have trouble showing emotion but I'm an INFP. Soemtimes I can't resonate with INFP videos because they just describe enneagram type 4s (or 9s) and I just feel more misunderstood because of this. For example I rarely cry and definitely not in front of others yet a lot of videos show INFPs like crybabies :D
Great point! INFPs definitely don't need to be someone who shows emotions to others or who cries a lot externally, and this can be true for many 4s as well. The question for the enneagram is what is being experienced on the inside more than what is being shown externally. It's true 1s are idealists and reformers yet are more rarely seen as INFPs. This is simply because most 1s have a preference for J. They feel best having a plan and sticking to it and feel best when things are organized and clear. They also tend to prefer longer sustained work periods vrs doing things in busts of energy or when they're highly interested, and they often prefer to finish a task before going on to something else which all tend to describe a dominant J function 🙂. But the enneagram is more concerned with internal motivations and fears and not specifically those other traits. So while it's rare to have INFP type 1s it's not unheard of! Hope this is helpful! Thanks for sharing and deepening our understanding!
@@TrueYouSystems yeah actually it's something that I feel like a constant internal conflict. Just like you wrote it I'm doing things in bursts of energy always wishing for more motivation. But if I know I'm doing something for the greater good / helping others I can muster much more energy and I become more persistent. Sometimes I can work for days focusing on one thing only and I even forget to eat or sleep. Other times I can hardly do my daily chores and feel bad because I think I'm lazy and good for nothing. And 1s don't like to think that they are bad that's their biggest fear. So yeah, it's complicated. Also I can organize a summer vacation for a big group but I struggle organize a simple day just for myself and I can't stick to my own plan. And because I'm an INFP and a type 1 I have this conflict where I can see the mistakes everyone is making but I don't want to cause conflict or hurt other's feelings so I have to find clever ways to point out said mistakes because I want to help people so bad and make evereything better. It can be tiring. Sometimes I wish I could turn off this feeling thing and turn into an ENTJ :D
@Lera7emrys 1s are often their own harshest critics, putting a lot of pressure on themselves to be a way they think they should be and attaching moral judgment to what they do or don't do. And that can be really hard! I wonder what types may be present in your Tritype (a mixture of one dominant type from each center of intelligence) as well. This may also be contributing to some of what you experience and how it interacts with being an INFP. It's important for 1s to remember to give themselves permission to be human, to make mistakes, and to be gentle with how they judge and see themselves🌷 I hope this is helpful😊 Thank you for sharing your experience🤗
@@TrueYouSystems 126 'The Supporter' is my tritype and maybe that's why I'm much more indecisive than other 1s. But I'm really loyal. Unfortunately I have trouble making friends as a lot of INFP does. This is really helpful, thank you.
Thank you I related to lot of both parts 4 and nine. But mostly nine every box was partially checked for m, it was fun to hear about how my personality comes across and I agree a lot with the information thank you so much for sharing he video ❤
Thank you! Yes! Like I say at the end of the video, it's rare for 2s to be INFPs but it does happen 😊 2s have so much of a fixation around others' needs and meeting those needs proactively that this usually manifests as elements of extroversion. Perhaps you may like my video on people pleasing, it covers type 2s 😊 Thank you for sharing and helping to deepen our understanding around the complexities and diversity of different types! 🤗
@TrueYouSystems I'll be honest I missed that part 😅 I suck sorry. But ya it's sucks being so rare. Add in being trans and demisexual and I won the lottery on uniqueness haha. Thanks for replying!
@madisonffgirl You don't suck at all!! It's an easy thing to miss🤗 It can be really hard being rare, but I really appreciate it. We need all the different types, diversity, and perspectives in the world! Thank you for being unique and sharing your experience!🤗
INFP 4w3 here, but I sometimes feel like I have 9 traits in that I don't seek conflict, and I actually hate finding myself in conflict or sticking out from the crowd... however, if I am pushed, I will then state my piece or explain my position or voice my displeasure even if it disrupts the "harmony". However, I try to be selective when I do that because I don't want to needlessly make anybody feel uncomfortable, invalidated, etc. unless they say something that I feel needs a response...and I admit that it happens more often than I'd like, which then makes me feel guilty and as if I failed to live up to some ideal of a "mature" and "adult" person. That said, after my initial response, my 9 trait comes out and I try to walk back a bit and say things like "Well, now that I think about it some more, I can see your point or why you feel...etc."
This is such a great description of how complex our personality structures can be!😄 It's possible that you have 9 as part of your Tritype (a mixture of one dominant type from each center of intelligence). And that you handle conflict in a 9 way but also feel more of a need to assert your authentic perspective as a 4 along with the self-conscious inner battles around guilt and identity that 4s experience. Thank you for helping to deepen and add complexity to our understanding! 🤗
The INFPs I personally know are either 9 or 6. The authenticity is very below the surface with both, and more interpersonal than intrapersonal. The one I know is in touch with his emotions is a 6, though a lot of what you said about 4 and 9 apply to him, almost in equal measure.
That's really interesting! It's so great to hear how these different patterns can intersect and relate to each other😄 thanks for sharing and deepening our understanding! 🤗
IF IXFP have FI as their dominant function and Fi is knowing how you know your own feelings so how type IxFP type 9es can not know how they feel about something?
That's a great question! The two systems measure very different things, which can cause this interesting mix. MBTI can help to understand your cognitive functions while the enneagram looks at internal motivations and fears that drive external behavior. For 9s, seeking harmony and avoiding turmoil and conflict is valued as a higher ideal than personal wants. So over time, 9s learn to not tap into elements of themselves such as wants and personal thoughts and feelings on things. If they did, they fear it may cause conflict because their thoughts and feelings could be at odds with others. Being aware of internal feelings that are at odds with others can cause internal turmoil, which they aim to avoid. Because of this, 9s block natural elements of themselves in order to keep the peace. Hope this is helpful! Thanks for the great question!
It's possible that 9 is in your Tritype (a mixture of one main type from each center of intelligence)😊 We often draw on elements of other parts of our personality structure, like in your example of feeling very 4 but sometimes tiptoeing around people. Thanks for sharing!!🤗
OK. I have taken the Myers brigs test several times and I always get INTP. The weird thing is I'm always extreme in one direction for Introverted, Intuition, and Perceiving, but I always get very close on Thinking/Feeling. For example: something like 55% Thinking and 45% Feeling. So, I tend to do things that both INTP and INFP do. Also, I often end up at war with myself because my emotions want to do one thing, but my logical side thinks the opposite is better. Ok what the heck are all of these numbers? You mostly talk about 4s and 9s and I have no idea where these numbers came from. WTF are you talking about? 1. Yep, I hate conflict and will do almost anything to avoid it. That includes acting like someone I'm very much not. But if I do have to act like someone I'm not, I'll never associate with those people again because being fake is one of the worst feelings. At the same time however, I am the type to avoid things simply because they are popular. For Example: I refused to watch Lost until my Fiancé made me watch it with him over a decade after it had been finished. 2. Nope! I don't understand my overly complicated emotions and extremely intrusive thoughts that seem to come out of nowhere. 3. OMG I am very very pessimistic about almost everything and it's only getting worse with age. I also tend to really love dark, melancholy and mysterious stories. 4. Feeling misunderstood. Yeah, I'm an INTP/INFP with ADHD and Major Depression. I almost always feel misunderstood. That's just my lot in life. Also, I feel misunderstood in *both* of the ways you described. 5.Passionate: I try my hardest to stay calm, but I have panic attacks over the smallest things. 6.*I am not shy!* I'm just extremely introverted and generally don't like to deal with people because they are annoying, petty, selfish, and rude. I'm a bit of a misanthrope. 😅 7. Deep feelings. Tell me about it! I love feelings of melancholy. To me melancholy is a beautiful, somewhat nostalgic, sadness. I also do try to pull away from the sadness sometimes too though because it often can become too much.
There's so many great points in here!! To your first one about mbti, it is often the case that we share traits from the cognitive functions we have the closest percentage points to. (In your case T/F). This is one of the reasons I recommend people really paying attention to what percentages they get on each function to have a better idea which ones really influence their own individual personality makeup😊 The numbers are from a system called the enneagram😄 It's a really helpful system for understanding ourselves deeply and what motivates our behaviors. It's a complicated system that has lots of ways each type connects, so I recommend watching or reading for an intro to the system: ruclips.net/video/I25HJVaFIQI/видео.html ...as well descriptions of the 9 types: ruclips.net/video/eZBi1Mlh2f0/видео.html It's possible you use both 4 and 9 in what's called your enneagram tritype. A good thing to start with though is which pattern (which number) do you relate to most. Which motivation, fixation, and fear really drives you? From there, looking at what's called "wings" may be helpful as well😊Some of what you described speaks to traits of 4 wing 5. This means dominant 4 (The Individualist) with elements of 5 (The Observer). You may enjoy my 4w5 or 5w4 video. Curious to hear your thoughts! Thank you for sharing! 🤗
So while I feel like I resonate more with 4, in daily life my actions definitely align more with 9. I wonder if that’s because of my social anxiety/masking?
Interesting question! I think social anxiety can really influence how a type presents. The Enneagram is mostly looking at our internal dialogues, motivations, and fixations, and not as much at how they may present externally, so if 4 resonates more with you, that may be closer to your dominant type 😊 Thanks for the great question!
This all makes sense, except that I'm pretty sure I do ALL of these things, even though they are contradictory. Especially, I might seem super calm to everyone observing me but I am a raging ball of emotions inside.
I'm glad you related to so much of it! Often this happens when we have both type patterns in our Tritype (a mixture of one dominant type from each center of intelligence). To find which type you use most you would look at the main fixation you tend to focus on most. Is it most important to seem calm and try to be calm and harmonious even when full of feelings and nerves under the surface? Or is it more important to try to find significance and be affirmed for being different? Often times 9s describe feeling like they are a duck on water all smooth and easy-looking on top but legs working hard to stay afloat under the surface. Others observing 9s experience them as calm and even-keeled but 9s often describe they feel difficult feelings internally and try to numb them in order to try to remain calm and seem peaceful. I hope this is helpful! Thanks so much for sharing your experience! 🤗
Good point! We tend to use different parts of our personality based on the context, but that being said, we often have one main pattern we tend to fix it on. Thanks for the comment!
True. I'm an INFP 4, and I do not relate to INFP 9s at all (or any 9s, for that matter). I can't distinguish them from ISFJ 9s. ...Seriously, how do you tell them apart?
I'm glad this rang true! It can definitely be hard to distinguish between an INFP 9 and an ISFJ 9, because so much of what distinguishes them is internal -- both because they are introverted and because 9s are careful about what they share, since they don't want to cause discord. Interesting question, thank you!
This is a great start! There's a few things that could be happening here. One is that 649 is your Tritype (a mixture of the three main types you use from each center of intelligence). The question, then, would be which type do you relate to most? That would be your dominant type😊 Another thing that may be happening is that the test was not accurate. Enneagram tests often have trouble pinpointing a type because they don't ask questions that help to see what are truly the motivations behind your actions. When this happens, I recommend reading or watching more about each type to see what motivation and fears resonate most with you 😊 I hope this is helpful! Thanks for sharing!
It's true that there are some 5s that get INFP on the test, though F tends to be less likely than T for most type 5s. Some survey data indicates that 5s slightly ahead of 6s but many put 6s and in some cases 2s ahead of 5s. 😊 Thanks for deepening the conversation! 🤗
Great question! There's some predictable cross-over between certain MBTI traits and the Enneagram, and then that combined with various research helps to give a better picture of which types are more represented in each Enneagram type 😊. 4s and 9s make up the greatest percentage of INFPs. Theoretically any Enneagram type could be an INFP, but it's very unlikely for certain types. For example, 8, 7, and 3s. INFPs are also less likely to be 5 or 1s. 2s and 6s sometimes are but again at a lower rate in the population compared to 4s and 9s. Hope this is helpful! Thanks for the comment!
Good point! It's possible you use both patterns in your Tritype! (a mixture of one main type from each center of intelligence). While we are a mixture of types, we tend to have one that we use more often and is dominant. I hope this is helpful! Thanks for sharing your experience! 🤗
In the Mermaid example I'm neither 9 or 4 :D If I didn't like the movie or didN#t see it yet, I have no problem to say that. But I would not go against the group or with the group on this self purpose Second example clearly 4, but not relationship-wise, because rationality helps to not idealise too much. Passionate / in touch with feellings, absolutely (4), but also staying calm. Shy, absolutely not. Beeing reserved isn't shy. Opinion/Feeling intensity clearly 4
I love how able you are to delineate which parts resonate for you and why! I think it's an amazing gift to have -- something I envy 4s for 🤗 thanks for sharing and helping to deepen our understanding!
Haha aw sorry! Yeah that was hard to keep track of while I was filming, hopefully I'm getting better at that 😅 Glad it was helpful, though, for figuring our which Enneagram type you lean towards! You might find that you relate to this video, too: ruclips.net/video/JvG2jRIzYbU/видео.htmlsi=0M4jZ2FSNcPLl9l2 -- I'd love to hear your thoughts! Thanks for sharing! 🤗
When I hear that an MBTI type is really two different types, I just think MBTI is too low-res, to coarse, to blunt, too few categories. Is the problem that it has analogs to two parts of the brain-heart-gut triad but not to the third? I don’t know, but it’s where my mind goes when I'm told of an MBTI fail like this. Am I way off?
I think you have a really good point! MBTI doesn't have the same nuance the Enneagram does in delineating types of emotion. So, for example, an 8 can be an ENFJ just as much as a 2 can be an ENFJ. For 8s, they are gut/instinct-centered, so that F translates to being fiery and easily showing anger and being big-energy leaders who don't care about what others think. Whereas ENFJ 2s are heart/feeling-centered, so they hardly ever show anger and very much care about what others think of them, are careful not to hurt feelings, and do things in order for others to like them. And, of course, the MBTI measures and describes things that the Enneagram doesn't, for instance N and S, so they can definitely be complementary. Love your questions and ideas, thank you for sharing!
Consider that Enneagram types also apply to multiple MBTI types (e.g. 7s are usually ENFPs, ENTPs, ESFPs, and ESTPs) , so you could argue that the Enneagram is more blunt. But really, we're just talking about common overlaps between the systems. I like MBTI way better because it's *partly* scientific. It tries to distinguish us by fundamental psychological patterns. Enneagram is unscientific and is built on arbitrary stereotypes, but it can still possibly give insight into your motivations and fears. So they can both be useful, and they can be used together to create a fuller picture of yourself.
@@coffeefrog I don't disagree with you. No system can correctly categorize humans unless it has 8.1 billion categories, one for each unique human alive. If a system has fewer categories, then no one will fit them perfectly. My comment was just voicing my biggest concern about MBTI. It seems mired in mind/body dualism which has been modern science's blind spot for quite a while now. And the Enneagram might seem arbitrary if you're not aware of the numerology and Pythagorean metaphysics it's rooted in. Those don't play well with the modern scientific paradigm either, but they're a long way from arbitrary. Btw, if what you want is science, the "Big Five Personality Traits" seems to be what's current. MBTI is considered passé. Good luck on your journey.
@coffeefrog & @jerrysstories711 Thank you both for making this an illuminating and interesting discussion, so many great points here! One thing I love about these systems is seeing what resonates for each person and what perspectives I can learn from them!
I'm INFP 6w5 and I look like a very judgy person who fakes her way to get people's attention. My number one issue is to stay moral and to expose immorality in others but I can see that is self-contradictory sometimes. I look more like a 9 tho finding my way to 4.
Great examples of how our internal motivations can manifest so differently 😊 It's possible you have some 1 patterns in your Tritype (a mixture of one dominant type from each center of intelligence) as well 🙂 Thanks for sharing and adding complexity to our understanding! 🤗
@@TrueYouSystems I used to insist that I am a 1 cuz my childhood patterns was pretty much like how 1's childhood is described but somehow I changed through adulthood. I still feel too logical for an INFP and I think my tritype would be 614. Great analysis! Thanks
Interesting! I was wondering if 4 was present since you type as an infp😊. For some people they show the behaviors externally of certain types but the drive of another type internally. Ultimately the enneagram is focused on internal motivation and fixation more than behaviors. So if you relate most to feelings of doubt and a need for security that would be centering on 6 or is it a need to avoid mistakes and fix things that are wrong which would be more 1😊 Thank you for sharing and helping to add complexity to our understanding!!🤗
@@TrueYouSystems sorry if Im sharing too much but yes I am very much 4ish inside and you are right. But my artistic endeavours have always been interrupted by my external problem seeking attitude or internal philosophical thoughts. I feel like I have had a very hard life as an INFP... I wish life was more obvious. I ended up in human sciences (philosophy and psychology) and not fields like engineering (I would have made a bad engineer) altho I was good with maths and logic.
I am enfj 8w9. Would love to have relationship with infp 4 or 9. I study with girl infp propably 9. I see her crush on me, usually I see infp likes me alot and I also like this feminine energy
Nice! I'm planning to do a video on ENFJ 8s sometime soon, excited to hear what you think! While all different types can be together in the enneagram, an 8 and 9 relationship is a classic and really great combo! 😄 I love hearing your perspective! Glad you enjoyed, and thanks for sharing! 🤗
yeah I would like to hear more about enfj 8. My tritipe is 836, people tell me enfj 8 dont exist but I am exist and doing good so? :D Thanks for content@@TrueYouSystems

See i think i'm a 75% 9 as i do value harmony, hate conflict, going with the flow, but that's just apart of my nature i think. but i'm 25% 4 as i wouldn't per say i support something because it's popular even if i might agree with some of the stuff. As i feel some stuff that should be unifying is hijacked and made to be divivise example modern progressivism. I'm for sure a progressive but i feel wokeness is fake in a lot of ways. At very least it sure isn't a very kind thing. Very cruel actually. Progressives would stand for a lot of the same stuff but do it different
Very good point! We are a mix, just like you are saying 😊 This is often called our Tritype (a mixture of one dominant type from each center of intelligence). For you, it may be that your main type is 9 (from the gut/instinct center) but that you also use the pattern of 4 when you use your heart/feeling center. That would leave the head/thinking center (types 5, 6, and 7) and figuring out which type is dominant for you from that center 😊. 9s often go along with things but not everything and often feel frustration around being pushed into something. You may find my 9 video interesting as it explores this idea a bit😊. Hope this is helpful! Thank you for sharing!
@@TrueYouSystems It also turns out i rank highly in 2 as well. So 2, 4, and 9. I scored very low on 1,3 and 8. I'm trying to learn more about this i find it very interesting.
4s tend to be F-dominant much more than T-dominant. This is because F is about making decisions based on the feelings of oneself and others, which 4s are very attuned to. That being said, each trait pair in the MBTI is a spectrum, and percentages can be close, so for example 51% T with 49% F would be technically T-dominant, but only barely so. I hope this is helpful, thanks for the great question! 🤗
Interesting! Though it is more rare, there are INFPs that can be 2s🙂 2s tend to lean towards extraversion since their main focus of attention goes towards actively meeting others needs. Because of this they tend to insert themselves into the lives of others. Thanks so much for adding to our understanding! 🤗
can i pick another number please 4 is a weird number 🕓 i come here cause your smile makes me feel better thanks and no one understands me cause i am rare i dont want to be rare so lonely
Interesting! 5s definitely tend towards T over F on the MBTI, but that's not universal, especially when T/F is close to the middle. An F-leaning 5 and and intellectually-inclined 4 will share a lot of characteristics, so the key to distinguishing between the two is looking at the underlying motivations that drive them. I go into that in this video, which you might find interesting: ruclips.net/video/VyNjffC2Bxg/видео.htmlsi=urCzPo5VHXzaBfE8 Thank you for sharing and adding to the conversation! 🤗
@@TrueYouSystems yes, and I think the traits of 9 that is conforming to others, isn't really our core trait, I think it's more of INFJ's... because we normally wouldn't tolerate if people do things that we oppose / dislike from the bottom of our heart! although sure, we'd tolerate as long as it doesn't cross our value, but once it touches our core, there's no going back XD
and yes, I do think INFPs are literally contradictions, we're one or the other simultaneously but we're never in between lol
INFP 5 with a 4 wing. One thing I especially enjoy is watching how people work and helping them design better work processes.
Interesting! I can see how a 5 would be helpful in finding systems that help to simplify a work process. 5s often like to solve some sort of puzzle or problem. Thanks for sharing! 🤗
infp 5/9 here.. i do the same thing... but i learned to ask first if they'd like to hear my suggestion... lol... ( don wanna be smarty pants )
That was great! I am an 4 INFP and it all resonated
Yay! So happy it resonated for you! Thanks for the feedback 🤗
I'm glad you liked the video! I appreciate you sharing your experiences and perspective 🤗 Thank you!
7:43 I loved all of the tops in the video but I love this one more than others, it's really beautiful.

Awww!! Thank you so much!! So happy you liked it! 🤗🤗
INFP 4 & 9 both describe me. It’s like an eternal conflict inside of me if I’m gonna react as a 4 or a 9 😅 lol
Thanks for making this video it has really helped me to understand myself a lot more ❤.
Aww!
@@TrueYouSystems no prob. Thanx for the video 😊

They are two different traits, but they are not mutually exclusive. We can care about the well-being of everyone without letting them tell us how to live our lives. It just makes sense to care about the good of all. - INFP 9
Thanks for sharing your perspective! I always love hearing directly from each type their understanding of themselves and the world 🤗
Really interesting.
Very nice and comprehensive explanation :) seems like I tend to N.9
Also your plants captured my attention ^^ as with each transition they grew or moved and shrank again :D the background felt more alive with it :D
Thank you! So happy that this was helpful for knowing more about being a Type 9! Haha glad you appreciate my plants, they have a mind of their own 😉Thanks for sharing! 🤗
Like how I’m actually miserable but to keep my husband and kids happy I keep it to myself…
I'm actually an INFP 5w6 so I'm a very unusual INFP.
Cheers!
You make a great mermaid and great explanation of us infps.
Haha thank you so much! 🤗🧜♀️
What's that mean
Nvm
You nailed for me. I’m an INFP.
4 - it fell off the previous comment. So helpful to have the 2 variations delineated
Thanks so much! So happy it resonated for you! 🤗
this is a great PSA for distinguishing the two!
it's super common for INFP's to be confused if they are a 49X or 94X, one of the most common confusions
for them, I'd say start here and then if they still aren't sure, then proceed to looking at real examples and compare.
I’m allegedly a type 5 enneagram known as the Sage also as the investigator but am
also most definitely an INFP-A
Have you ever heard of, read about, or experienced in your ten years of sundry MBTI & Enneagram studies an INFP-A that is type 5 sage/investigator enneagram?
This explanation is making me question if I'm mainly a 5 or a 4. Thankfully, you also made a video on that specific topic! :D
Edit: 5w4
I'm an enneagram 5 (though I feel more like a 2), and yet I really saw myself in BOTH of the types you described in the video 😂 Guess I'm just a mess!

1s are often their own harshest critics, putting a lot of pressure on themselves to be a way they think they should be and attaching moral judgment to what they do or don't do.
Thank you so much! So happy it resonated for you🤗 Thank you for sharing!
Great video! But I'm a INFP 2w1 which is even more rare. Wish we got some of that in videos like these 😅 But hard to find info on it
Thank you! 🤗
@TrueYouSystems I'll be honest I missed that part 😅 I suck sorry.
But ya it's sucks being so rare. Add in being trans and demisexual and I won the lottery on uniqueness haha.
Thanks for replying!
@madisonffgirl
You don't suck at all!!
This is quite true to me, INFP 4
Thank you! I'm so happy you found it relatable! 🤗🤗
@@TrueYouSystems thank you for great answer :)
I'm an INFP 4, but I also relate to alot of the 9 things too in terms of kindof tiptoeing around people
It's possible that 9 is in your Tritype (a mixture of one main type from each center of intelligence)😊 We often draw on elements of other parts of our personality structure, like in your example of feeling very 4 but sometimes tiptoeing around people.
This is one of the reasons I recommend people really paying attention to what percentages they get on each function to have a better idea which ones really influence their own individual personality makeup😊
The numbers are from a system called the enneagram😄 It's a really helpful system for understanding ourselves deeply and what motivates our behaviors. It's a complicated system that has lots of ways each type connects, so I recommend watching or reading for an intro to the system:
ruclips.net/video/I25HJVaFIQI/видео.html
...as well descriptions of the 9 types:
ruclips.net/video/eZBi1Mlh2f0/видео.html
It's possible you use both 4 and 9 in what's called your enneagram tritype. 🤗
@@TrueYouSystems thank you. I will have to look into that.
Well i think it's not like one will always stick to one way it depends on the time and mood but for me tests and AIs said I'm 9w8
Good point! We tend to use different parts of our personality based on the context, but that being said, we often have one main pattern we tend to fix it on. Thanks for the comment!
This tracks. I definitely lean 4 and not 9.
Thank you! So glad this resonated with you!🤗
I took an enneagram test and it said I was a type 6. It makes sense but I feel like can resonate with type 4 and 9 as well.
The next most likely Enneagram Type for INFPs - is 5.
It's true that there are some 5s that get INFP on the test, though F tends to be less likely than T for most type 5s. Some survey data indicates that 5s slightly ahead of 6s but many put 6s and in some cases 2s ahead of 5s. 😊 Thanks for deepening the conversation! 🤗
I'm an INFP 4w5 so/sx 459 RLOAI EVLF EII Melancholic-Phlegmatic GUY 😂😂😂

I love this comment! It's so real and honest and well said! A great example of how 4s see the world! Thank you for sharing!! 🤗
Where did you get these numbers from? How many types of infp exists?
I want to keep the peace and i want to feel special and authentic 😅
Good point! It's possible you use both patterns in your Tritype! (a mixture of one main type from each center of intelligence). While we are a mixture of types, we tend to have one that we use more often and is dominant. I hope this is helpful! Thanks for sharing your experience! 🤗

Aww!! Wow thank you for all your support, Jerry!! I really appreciate it! 🤗
In the Mermaid example I'm neither 9 or 4 :D
If I didn't like the movie or didN#t see it yet, I have no problem to say that. But I would not go against the group or with the group on this self purpose
Second example clearly 4, but not relationship-wise, because rationality helps to not idealise too much.
The 9 and the 4 kept switching side so I got a little mixed up 😅, but I think I lean more like a 9.

@@TrueYouSystemsso T and 4 are so similar ?
4s tend to be F-dominant much more than T-dominant. This is because F is about making decisions based on the feelings of oneself and others, which 4s are very attuned to. That being said, each trait pair in the MBTI is a spectrum, and percentages can be close, so for example 51% T with 49% F would be technically T-dominant, but only barely so. I hope this is helpful, thanks for the great question! 🤗
INFP 2w3
Interesting! Though it is more rare, there are INFPs that can be 2s🙂 2s tend to lean towards extraversion since their main focus of attention goes towards actively meeting others needs. Infp but a 5...so idk
