Men like Rodney Childers, Dale Inman, Chad Knaus, Leonard Wood, Maurice Petty, Ray Evernham, Robert Yates, Waddell Wilson, and Kirk Shelmerdine are the engine builders, mechanics, and crew chiefs who built and set up the race cars that propelled some of the greatest drivers to historic race victories and NASCAR Championships. Rodney Childers is a smart guy, one of the smartest when it comes to race cars and managing race teams. Rodney Childers has been Stewart-Haas Racing’s crew chief since 2014 and he has had a successful career with the team. He formed one of NASCAR’s most successful driver-crew chief partnerships with Kevin Harvick. They won 36 points races together and the All-Star race in 2018. The peak of their partnership was winning the 2014 NASCAR Cup Series Championship. Rodney Childers and SHR’s 2024 season marked the end of its journey, but the next step for Childers will be to lead Spire Motorsports in 2025. Best wishes to Rodney Childers and the Spire Motorsports team in the upcoming season.

Love Rodney, But I am sad to see him not go to the 21 car with Josh. I know that he would help Josh get his first win quicker than some other crew chief. They may have even got the Wood Brothers a championship.
