This is not at the farm but at our current home in just your average Tennessee subdivision. East Tennessee is very hilly everywhere so even subdivisions typically have a lot of slope, so all the water runs to collection points, that flow to the next connection point and so on. Heavy rain can rapidly turn into a problem due to the rapid collection of volume of water, not necessarily heavy rain. This is much different than a flat area like Iowa or Illinois.

Nature of any kind amazes me. The older I get the more I pay attention to nature to enjoy it even if it’s destroying things. Hopefully I have the same positive attitude when I check the farm. I’m sure there will be a lot of erosion…. Thanks for watching and commenting

Wow. Impressive 😮 Is this much rain in such a short time a common occurrence in TN?

I would say occasionally get something close to this. The big difference is the neighborhood went from about 2 homes uphill from use to 20 in the past 4 years. It was all woods and now it’s houses and grass that shed the water off. The ground the grass is on is compacted so densely it might as well be paved. There are only about 8 more empty wooded lots so hopefully the flooding can’t get much worse. Thanks for watching and commenting

Yes, but it usually doesn't run down hills and gather in valleys as rapidly as in Tennessee. I'm old enough to remember when the Mississippi River flooded high enough to be up the the St. Louis arch, so yes, I know they flood. The slopes here can consolidate the rains very rapidly, beyond what I was used to from my decades in the midwest. Thanks for watching and commenting.
