Somehow or another I found your video and watched again. I make a type of loaf and bar cutter. You can take apart real easy and store in a drawer. I bring that up because it does not use steel wire. Steel wire has small tiny ridges that cause stress on the wire and thats the only reason they break over time. It might even scar up that melt & pour clear soap or just break trying to cut melt & pour. Mine uses 30pnd fishing line. I've never broken a wire on any type of soap. A loaf can be cured for almost a week and it will still cut right through with no scarring or issues. I bring that up for you to try sometime yourself. You get a lot more in a spool and it might be cheaper (never bought wire)? And, I think they can handle those guitar tuners only you might want to slack off just a hair? Another reason they break is because steel isn't very good bending over continuous usage. Its actually better if you leave the wire tight and never loosen then to loosen them up after every usage. The more you bend steel in the act of cutting soap and tightening and loosening the more it will eventually break. Fishing line doesn't do that.
Do you ever consider making your bar soap cutter to sell? At 72 I do not have the strength to 'wrangle' a loaf of soap and a knife. I admire your ingenuity. Thank you for sharing your journey.
Wow, thats some precision measuring. I really admire how the bottom piece fits precisely in the box. I didn't see any air! This is one video going into my soap making videos. I hope to make something like this one day. Currently I actually use fishing line to cut my soap. It works great in what I made and cuts pretty smoothly. I've been doing that for about 3 or 4 years now and haven't broke a line yet. Still on the same one. It works because the soap goes through the line versus the line going through the soap as in your bar cutter. I would be interested if it works in your box though. I hope you consider making a video of making them.
I really enjoyed your video and took notes for either my husband or my son to play with it if they are bored or need a Christmas present for me (😉, it’s still August so it should be doable, right?). Thanks for the great explanations. I would love to see more videos on your channel.
Hello, I have a question you covered the size of the base and the size of the sides of the big block mold, however, however I did not hear you mention the width of the end boards, not knowing how deep the dato grooves are I know the end pieces are 15" tall but could you please tell me what the width of the board should be also what size off router bit is used to make the datos, I am looking forward to making these treasures you have shared with us. Thank in so, much for sharing. Cheers
I appreciate your efforts. As a beginner in the act of soap making, your videos are more than helpful.

I’m glad you’ve had a good experience using fishing line! I’ve gone seven years without breaking the piano wire, so I think it’s a good choice.
Thank you too, for a very detailed, helpful video. Blessings to your house, Sir.
Thank you so much, Caroline!

Thanks so much! I’m not making more of these to sell, but you’ll find a source for commercially made ones in my description.

Very impressive,
What abt sliding soap cutter have you video too?
Sorry, just this one.
Those are so amazing! What do you think you would charge for those? I'm sure it took a while to put those together!
Thanks so much, Andrea. I don’t make those to sell, but there are companies that make similar tools. They are usually hundreds of dollars.
@@MadeinBibs Of course! They'd have to be! That's a lot of time and effort!
What size wire was used? Planning on building this for my daughter
I used Precision Brand Music Wire, UPC NO: 21218, .018 diameter. Available on Amazon. Have fun!
@MadeinBibs Thank you.
