    A great morning, fun size waves and no storms.
    The endless summer does not end, but the heavy rains begin. However, they are not so constant yet…
    Such an incredible moment whenever you wake up with thunder or hearing the pouring rain, you get ready and you leave your house and you see lightning in the distance of the peaceful and hectic sea.
    But once the sun rises, everything calms down and the incredible waves can be seen in the distance from the mountains. The rain can decreases the wave, it can order or disorder the swell. Moreover, In this place, you can imagine what the waves is going to be like, there are few times when the day is very bad. Is a place that can be easily predicted by the forecast.
    If you wanna stay in here, for nights and surf every day, my recommendation is to say in this fabulous hotel “AST SURF HOTEL” in la Libertad, in Punta Roca.

    super vid/super wave..mui sympatico!..drove down from Seattle in 1992 with an old 1965 International Scout with my surf bud Hoppy; the war had just ended….camped at Posada Don Lito for months and surfed the bay, PR and Sunzal every day..made so many friends and memories ..Jimmy R. came up to us one night right before we were leaving for Nica, CR & Panama and said “boys, there is a land you will drive by called the wild east; there is super surf to be had if you fellas are truly adventurous”…. so on our way south we detoured to El Cuco, poked around, chatted with some locals in town who thought we were crazy, and we stared at the giant wind-blown beach break with no surfable waves ..so we thought Jimmy was just teasing two young punks, and we blew out of there and headed for Nicaragua…..years later we were some of the first “paying” guests at Las Flores and just couldn’t believe how close we had been; right around the corner!!….El Sal is still our favorite 32 years later … see you in Julio bruchachos !…buena ola

      So really nice to read this. I just was imagine the hole story. You just stayed for months and the we t to Nicaragua and Panama. Nevertheless, the hole are in central America is so nearby. And lots of beaches and places. And How Jimmy advised you to go to the Wild East. how wonderful!went and ventured. I imagine the street was dirt, long hours on a dirt street, right? No concrete. That trip it must have been incredible man, 💪🏻🤙🏽

    Wonderful footage and editing on a nice looking day. Our group of surfer friends went there 1973, then my friend & I went for 2.5 months (July/August) 1974 and rented a small house right by the creek on the point. Surfed many sessions with Carlos and other locals but sometimes just the two of us. I did not connect too well with this music and the wave so I turned down since I know many people like to "rock out" when watching surf film....I'm a pro musician and usually prefer just the ocean sound when someone can get it. Nevertheless, thank you for posting, have really good memories from that trip. A native friend from Panama gave us a map and just my friend and I went to El Zonte also......not a soul there, just some natives. On the return drive to Florida our friend from Panama picked up my friend (I stayed there 2 more weeks) and they drove up and surfed Puerto Escondido and caught it big.....it was a real secret spot then. Actually La Libertad had never been published by name at that time either....just some photos in one Surfer Magazine article as "undisclosed location in Centro). Thanks again for the video sharing!

    • @pineapplesurf
      @pineapplesurf  Месяц назад +2

      Your welcome my friend! And thanks for sharing your experiences! How interesting, that at that time, there was only one surf magazine publication. I'm glad you liked it, if the music is personal taste, bu at least the videos 🦾! I loved reading your experience! Be well bro

      @@pineapplesurf Thanks....there a Magazine "Surfer Magazine" and another "Surfing Magazine". Yes, there had only been one article about Central America and it did not name the spots but word was starting to get around. There was political unrest so we stayed very close to the beach with a low profile!!!

    Great video of such a perfect wave. Started surfing down there in 1989 during the Civil War. We had the wave to ourselves with a few locals like Bob and Jimmy Rothman. No one traveled there during the war but La Libertad was fairly safe. Went many times surfing that place completely uncrowded.

      call bllsht on you! Not even his name. Big deal about you and your lying experience during FMLN conflict with cia. Hug all coastal land and everyone is fine. There never is fighting along the coast its all in the mountains and jungles. We all did it but real people don't act like we know Bishop Romero or are badasses just cause we coincidentally were in the the same country during a civil war. You are Pathetic.

      It's really cool, man, that you shared your story with us. surfing down there during the Civil War is not usual hearing. when I was a kid I just tried to imagine surfing during the Civil War, But I thought it was not be able, because whether the dangerous or whether other thing. I remember that my father told me , long time ago, in 1985 down the road with his friend in the bus , the guerrillas set it on fire, They had to get off the bus and the boards burned. Nobody was hurt. Nevertheless I hear this and I realize it was possible. I just had a great time as well, getting to know Jimmyto Rotherham, and El Caballo, Jimmy's father. Nowadays My wife and I went to his restaurant, and we met them, talked, and had a good time. It was such a memorable experience! Cheers 🤙🏽

      @pineapplesurf  21 день назад

      Was In that time easy to rent a House? Because , at that time i know there were just few houses and the port of La libertad was really small

    • @davidalfred924
      @davidalfred924 20 дней назад

      @@pineapplesurf I'd have to say we were lucky to find a house. We rented it from the local parmacist. The house was up on a hill overlooking the main part of town. It was surrounded with an eight foot tall wall with broken glass embedded at the top. It was a big house with lime trees everywhere. The nephew of the pharmacist would come in from San Salvador each weekend and stay as well. We had a friend and his girlfriend that rented a house out near Sunzal. We'd ride the bus (on top) to visit and surf out there. The cemetery was the only thing between the Restaurante "Punta Roca" and the point. An American named Rob (who married a local) owned the restaurant. In fact, a lot ot that road was washed out from high surf.
      I could go on about being chased some locals fueled on Tic Tac while swinging machetes at us.
      Wish I could go back in time and do it again!

      Huaa, 10 years ago. In my opinion, people are more nice, more friendly and of course is more developed, restaurants and hotels are growing. In the past the point was more “localised”. I also remember the dark vibe from the gangs. Honest, i remember when i was sitting in the car and they come to ask fore $1. But now, is really chill and security. Totally different and changed
