Giving them platforms were they can gather millions of followers is going to end in tears in the not so distant future.

Afterwards he discussed the dangers and repercussions of using this substance in order to educate others from the same path. He kept asking for his dose to be increased, and, stupidly, his doctor did so. They even approached the topic using the classical psychological classifications of the self "id, ego, superego, shadow self, etc.). And again, it's brief . . .
The stand thing with the magnifying glass and the bottle opener next to Peterson is a vintage brass desk set, probably made in China. You can get those for around US$ 60 and they're the kind of gift a 60-year-old with failing eyesight would get. The only way this could get more whimsical is if it also included a candle extinguisher and an ink well with a feather pen. The the third tool on the stand in the video would be a letter opener, but its blade got removed - probably because a 4 or 5 inches long blade would look too stabby for the camera, or because someone on the set didn't trust Peterson around a knife.

A bottle opener, okay: that you might find in a hotel room's bar - but there wouldn't be this sort of stand for it. And I've never seen a magnifying glass in a hotel room. The letter opener makes no sense at all because people typically don't get letters delivered to their hotel rooms - it's just a lawsuit waiting to happen, but that would result in it being completely removed, not broken. And last but not least, these tools get easily lost or stolen, which would also discourage the hotel management from putting them in the rooms. He could also easily pick this stand up and put it elsewhere, so there's that to your "no control over the decorations". I think it's more likely a gift that he got from his wife or children.

There's nothing preventing people from registering accounts in their watering holes and keeping tabs on them, I've been doing that since 1997. They weren't nearly as big a problem as they are now exactly because they hadn't places like youtube and twitter were they could amass huge followings, they were scattered in much smaller message boards, with hundreds or a couple thousand people at most. Giving them platforms were they can gather millions of followers is going to end in tears in the not so distant future.

What did he do? He sought treatment and kicked the drug, recovering his health in the process. After which he was open about what happened and even went on the largest podcast in the world admitting it. Afterwards he discussed the dangers and repercussions of using this substance in order to educate others from the same path. So my point is that after someone does that you are, of course, still free to criticize, but it’s a bit redundant. Don’t you think?

He kept asking for his dose to be increased, and, stupidly, his doctor did so. He had such a rough time getting off of them that he decided to go to Russia where he was put into a coma while his body fought through withdrawal. That addled his mind. The stand thing with the magnifying glass and the bottle opener next to Peterson is a vintage brass desk set, probably made in China. You can get those for around US$ 60 and they're the kind of gift a 60-year-old with failing eyesight would get. The only way this could get more whimsical is if it also included a candle extinguisher and an ink well with a feather pen.
The the third tool on the stand in the video would be a letter opener, but its blade got removed - probably because a 4 or 5 inches long blade would look too stabby for the camera, or because someone on the set didn't trust Peterson around a knife.
Or he's in a hotel room, and has no control over the decorations.

A bottle opener, okay: that you might find in a hotel room's bar - but there wouldn't be this sort of stand for it. And I've never seen a magnifying glass in a hotel room. The letter opener makes no sense at all because people typically don't get letters delivered to their hotel rooms - it's just a lawsuit waiting to happen, but that would result in it being completely removed, not broken. And last but not least, these tools get easily lost or stolen, which would also discourage the hotel management from putting them in the rooms.
He could also easily pick this stand up and put it elsewhere, so there's that to your "no control over the decorations".
I think it's more likely a gift that he got from his wife or children.
