Why use limiter's gain knob to lower the volume of the guitar sample? Why not just pull it down directly from the mixer channel?
Simply because if, at some point, I want to limit the maximum output of the signal, I could use the limiter for proper visualization of any artifacts and use the "ceil" aka loudness ceiling knob to limit the loudness.
This is a habit I developed a really long time ago and usually my mixer loudness is pretty much the same everywhere
