- In this nine-minute short, perennial world title contender Filipe Toledo talks, candidly, about the reputation that has bedevilled his career since his zero point heat at Teahupoo in 2015.
"The reputation's not good. People talking about it? I don't like it," says Filipe.
The film contrasts that zero-point heat in Tahiti with his near-win over Kelly Slater, at eight-to-ten-foot Pipeline, in 2018.
"I'm not the best surfer out at Pipeline; I'm not the best surfer in Tahiti. I have to get better. I have to improve by going out there, taking wipeouts, two-wave hold-downs, getting hurt on the reef."

its true go look at any of his parts or comps, he's not a tube rider surfer. So how is it that he is the best surfer in the world? That is insane. He is probably the best small wave surfer but even medina and italo can charge "big waves". @@Waynesworrldexcellent
If Filipe wants to get more people on his side, he needs to tell his dad to tone it down a few notches. Filipe's dad and Medina's dad are so damn annoying during heats, whistling and yelling. They want to be part of the show. You don't see any other couches acting like that on the beach. Everyone loves Italo "The peoples Champion" because his humble & his surfing does ALL the talking. There's no doubt Filipe has the surfing skills to be champion, he just needs to work on his ground game.
Ratshit, I love the hype. They should shoot guns in the air when a Brazilian wins! Naked Brazilian models should dance etc... surfing needs more hype, its funkin boring. If you lose a heat you should be shot with a paintball gun.
