Kelly's will is relentless, even if his body isn't cooperating. His undying will to win is why he's been so successful but it's also his curse because he can't let go. To be fair he's still ultra competitive at big barreling waves so I really hope to see him get wildcard entries at Teahupoo and pipe, perhaps Cloudbreak too. But hopefully he opens his eyes and sees there is way more success to have out there now, much more than winning wsl comps. Wsl is dying in my eyes.
How about KS jr. versus JJ jr. ... If we are still surfing then YES there was a period (hundreds of years really) where the west had NO paper, minting of coins, silk or fine glazed ware (not to mention irrelevant gladiator games were stopped the same as the current WSL, which is also declining) after the fall of the Western Roman empire while the Eastern Roman empire thrived. Took a while for us in the West to get it together again, hope the WSL can to. SEE how everything (even surfing) goes back to Rome. HILARIOUS.
3:18 "...so far." 😎 Just kidding. Kelly deserves to go out in style even if it hasn't been a smooth (nor brief) transition. Say what you will but Kelly has given much to surfing. Some might even suggest he's given too much in some respects. Alas, he will one day leave it better than he found it...presumably...(leave it that is)...and although I have found occasion to disagree with Kelly I cannot deny that he's still the GOAT.
I really like Kelly. But he is a bit of a media tart....lives the attention and the drama...Unsure whether he can walk away permanently from that....he even has said so in the past...big difference to Tom Curren....

Pretty obvious Chas...he teaches son#1 how to surf like the GOAT. He then qualifies alongside junior and they go mano y mano until the WSL collapses.
