I have a sealer question for you. I don’t have a hvlp sprayer so I am stuck between spray can or brushing on a sealer. Since I use the 1/8” Baltic birch stars instead of carving the stars I am curious your opinion on what to use to seal. Brushing on polycrilic is a bit rough because it wants to puddle around the stars when the brush hits them. Then the tedious task of sanding between coats of brush on poly is not fun. Would you recommend a spray can laquer and doing 2-3 coats and not having to sand or another spray can sealant like spar urethane. Not a big fan of the Minwax poly spray cans. Want a good shine and seal but the raised stars make things a bit tough time wise. TY.
Honestly, I'd probably brush poly on before adding the stars. Put it on the stars separately and CA glue them on last. They're not structural so they just need to stay in place and it would work just fine.
And also on the stars that ur applying in beginning of the vid not 76 version do the stars come with the little bit of browning on the ends or did you burn it like that urself ?
For the current version you are correct. But for the Bennington Flag (pictured) they are reversed. It was designed and used for a short time in the early 1800s.
Because I need the boards as close to 1.5" in thickness as possible. That way when the stripes are all cut I can choose between any of the 4 faces to use on the front and still keep the flag to the proper scale. It may not be the best reasoning, but it's what I'm going with for now.
Hey....not to knock your work. It looks great and all...but in that finished flag you has 2 too many blue stripes in the union! There are only supposes to be 7. You had 9
You would be correct for a standard American flag, but the finished flag is the Bennington. The Bennington flag is slightly different in that it has the same 13 stripes but they are reversed in color and the union is slightly larger.
Awesome video man. Very cinematic and cool shots for sure!
Thanks dude!
I'm digging your rolling dust vac system!
Thanks!
Really nice video production and editing! New sub here
Well made video and flag!!!! Excellent work!
Thanks Jesse!
Great looking flag
Thanks!
Great work!
Thanks Chris!
Nice job. That's a great looking flag!
Thanks!
Nice work brotha, awesome shots and slomo! Keep it up!
Thanks dude! I'll try lol.
Nice job but aren’t your stripes backwards red on top
This is the Bennington Flag. It's a historical variation used in the 1800s. The stripes are accurate for this particular version.
Those slow mo effects ✌🏻
Great video bud! I see you working hard
Thanks dude! I'm definitely trying lol

awesome video! thanks for sharing man. editing was great, can't wait for the next one!
Thanks Oscar! It might be a minute for the next one though lol.
Hey nice flags. At what length do u do the line to separate the union?
What do you mean?
Awesome video brother! Steppin' it up with the edit!
Lol tryin to!
Awesome job man.
Thanks dude!
Awesome video Jacob!! I'm local to you and was wondering which lumber yard you go to for your lumber
Thank you! I typically go to Peterman Lumber in Fontana. But There's also a Reel Lumber in Riverside and a Ganahl in Corona.
@@jacobelliott5792 thank you for such a fast response. That's actually here I go too. I was hoping there was another one you knew of in the HD,😆
@@ThomasCastanos There's Hesperia Wholesale Lumber on Smoke Tree and C Ave. But they don't have much more than a Home Depot does.
Dude great use of camera angles and slow mo
Thanks Kev!

I charred them myself.
Jacob, I think the stripes are wrong. Red on top and bottom.
For the current version you are correct. But for the Bennington Flag (pictured) they are reversed. It was designed and used for a short time in the early 1800s.
What color blue and red did you use?
The red is Barn Red by varathane. The blue is a water based dye by minwax.
Why did you make the union so big? It's only supposed to come down 7 of the strips.
This one is known as the Bennington flag. it was made in the early 1800s and was specifically made this way.
@@jacobelliott5792 I just looked it up. Oddly ive never seen this flag, its specific to the battle of Bennington. Good job on the flag
Sweet. I like the dog
Why is the union not proportional to the flag? Union should be 7 stripes, but yours is 9 stripes. Was this done intentionally?
That was intentional. That is called the Bennington Flag. It was a variant of the US flag from the early 1800s. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bennington_flag
Where do you purchase the wooden stars and 76 from on the other flag that you make?
I get the stars on Etsy. But I cut the 76 on the bandsaw.
Nice! Great job!
Question though, why not put it through the planer at first to make sure all boards are uniform thickness?
Because I need the boards as close to 1.5" in thickness as possible. That way when the stripes are all cut I can choose between any of the 4 faces to use on the front and still keep the flag to the proper scale. It may not be the best reasoning, but it's what I'm going with for now.
Also, do you glue the 13 stripes together or just secure them with nails on the back?
I just glue and brad nail the strips on the back.
What size are the laser cut stars? 1”?
The star size is based on the flag size. You have to calculate it using the ratios which you can find online.
Where do you get those pre cut stars?
Search Etsy for laser cut stars.

Oooops
FIRST STEP, KNOW WHICH COLOR STARTS ON TOP......SMH
FIRST STEP: Google the Bennington flag and research its history and design before making stupid comments.
