  • Dr. Moises Lustgarten, Pain Medicine Physician with Baptist Health South Florida, says TMJ is a painful condition that involves the temporomandibular joint. "That's a joint that is right in front of your ear, in the face." Some of the symptoms are severe pain contractions in the muscles of the face, pain when eating, pain when speaking, and sometimes the joint gets stuck when opening or closing the mouth.
He also explains sometimes it goes away on its own, and sometimes you require to see a doctor and to treat it.

Everyone who suffers from Tmd: you should check if you have a TONGUE TIE first and get it released, that’s often the root cause other than posture. Lots of people have resolved chronic pain and issues just from getting the tongue released and doing mouth and body posture exercises along with tmj exercises.

TMJ can be due to injury and jaw muscles and ligaments shifted to one side.

I am doing some research I don’t think this is what I have but two years ago started with this thumping or pinching feeling in left ear on and off for couple of months and I passed the hearing test and th specialist told me it is what is called an eardrum spasm caused by maybe caffeine or stress but there is that same feeling underneath the jaw and about every few months or so it will reoccur .Eardrops specifically for pounding or ringing seem to be the only relief .I wonder if you could maybe tell me a little more about these spasms and ore of how they occur and what is going on If possible

I have this problem with intense pressure/tightness in my ears. It just started randomly and won’t go away. I’m scared it’s all in my head but the sensations are killing me and is causing my anxiety levels to sky rocket. Does anyone else feel this way or have any advice?

Ugh I have the same issue...I have this strange sensation (almost a weird vibration but not that strong) along my jaw muscle that kind of goes up the side of the head area and it causes anxiety for me and it's so annoying...also ear pain like I'm getting an ear infection. Went to my dentist and first thing he said is TMJ symptoms

I’ve been dealing with this pain for over 7 years … my jaw was dislocated on its own then a year later I had to get my wisdom tooth removed, it was such a bad experience I couldn’t go and get my other wisdom tooth removed felt like my jaw was going to be dislocated again. Now I can’t fly in planes because of my left ear the pressure made it literally feel like my head was going to explode. The dentist told me I grind my teeth a lot. Now fast forward to now I have pain on my left side of my jaw, behind my left ear , & left cheek. I can’t open my mouth fully only half way worse part i can’t yawn or my jaw will dislocate it’s such a horrible feeling I’ve been dealing with this pain for 7 years! I wouldn’t wish this pain on nobody, I feel like I’m just not that normal person I used to be , me having PTSD, anxiety, depression since losing my dad at 17 also hasn’t helped now I’m 31 . God bless & I wonder if I’m the only person that is dealing with this amount of pain 😢
