  • Dr. Javier Perez-Fernandez, Critical Care and Pulmonary Medicine Physician with Baptist Hospital and West Kendall Baptist Hospital, explains Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) can be classified depending on the inflammation and the destruction of the alveoli.
He says most people start having symptoms of COPD after exposing themselves to the causal agent for about 15 to 20 years, but for some people it may be earlier or take longer.

I am 45 years old and I got diagnosed nearly 2 years ago. I got told I was just over the line on stage 1. I'm probably a stage 2 now. I don't need oxygen yet. I am currently on carbosistiene tablets and that is it. Is there anything I can do myself to get it out because I am struggling?

hey jay jay, stage 1 is manageable but not curable, its a progressive disease as long as you quit smoking now you should be able to manage it
