There is nothing more beautiful than watching your children meet for the first time and giving them a best friend for life. ❤️ Mom of 4 here. Best moments of my life.

I remember when I transitioned from one child to two. I loved my first son so much and while I knew that I would love my second baby, I wondered if it would be different. It's amazing how much I loved both of them after I had my second son. Its like God makes our heart make room for each new child. 5 kids later, I love each of them equally and they each have their gifts that make them unique. I will say that the second child was easier because it wasn't a learning curve. My first son was 8 weeks early and spent 2 1/2 months in the hospital and was sick. I am amazed I even had another child after that experience, but God has a way of bringing you through whatever lessons we get to learn. Boys are soooo different from girls. I had 4 sons and 1 daughter and wow, is all I can say. As a grandparent I value the infancy of my grand babies so much because I learned how fast they grow up while being a parent. You all got this and my advice is to immerse yourself in each moment and know that you are not alone!

We are almost 2 months into our second child and I had the same feelings Shawn is saying about not liking to share. Though you do become a family of four one thing we have noticed is that we don't always feel like a family of 4. Baby girl naps a lot so we still have some sweet family of 3 time. During pregnancy I thought It was going to be an abrupt family of 4 shift, but because of the amount of time she naps it's actually turned it a progressive change and not so sudden. I'm sure drew will do great! Our toddler is 2.5 and she always has to know where baby is. From the day we found out, our toddler knew a baby was coming and we talked about it very regularly. We made sure as soon as our baby was born the first person we called was our toddler so she could meet her sister (couldn't come to hospital because of COVID restrictions). Let Drew help when she wants to if that means grabbing a new diaper or wipes when changing or helping with play/tummy time!

      @kaelatwede155 3 года назад +2

I felt the same with my second. It is way more gradual than I expected. My baby is now 9 months and I still get one on one time with my toddler because she naps twice and he doesn't. Maybe once naps drop we will have to work out one on one time but for now, it's great!

I am currently 28 weeks with our first baby and she too is a 2 vessel cord like Drew was. This whole experience has been terrifying. With all the extra ultrasounds and visits to the hospital and to just finding out that we will now start stress testing baby girl twice a week, every week, starting at 32 weeks has been a lot on this mama heart. If it wasn’t for your beautiful story with Drew and my faith in God I would be living in constant fear. Don’t get me wrong fear still gets the best of me some days, but I’m just trusting God and his plan for us. You guys are awesome. Praying for you both, Drew and baby boy EAST in the days to come. Y’all got this! 💙

I'm going with July 16th. But Shawn your beautiful. I'm pregnant with my little girl and its crazy. My pregnancy with my little girl was night and day from my son. My son was easy and my girl I felt everything. Morning sickness everything. My son never had it. Craved salty and spicy and baby girl. Nothing. With baby boy filled with emotions, I cried about everything. Buy Andrew, your so supportive its beautiful.

Here is some advice that is sometimes hard to do but sooo well worth it for your relationship with child #1... Individually take some time with just Drew and have a daddy or mommy daughter date. Being intentional about her place in your lives is key. That just because little man/brother has joined the fam doesn't take away anything from her. Plus it gives you guys a break from parenting 2... Blessings to you guys!

I’m only about 4 minutes in but I absolutely feel so compelled to add how important a topic I feel it is that you are sharing this isolated feelings you’ve had with pregnancy. I feel like it’s something nearly every woman goes through to some degree it’s not vastly talked about. Shawn, you put into words the many emotions we as women have during pregnancy and go through on own simply because we don’t want to further distance ourselves with those who may not understand. Also, I feel like we just deal with it and let it pass because we don’t want to add focus to another way we become different as we go through these nine months. With all three of my kids I recall feeling all of this yet never put a voice to it and I applaud you for adding light to it. This, my friends is why I love this podcast. You two are dynamic, insufferably honest and waste no words or thoughts when it comes to niche topics like this and I’m so here for it!

One thing I learned when my second one came along was that it was time to get organized. I couldn't devote all my attention to the one and had to get a schedule going and stick to it. 3 years apart and it was a new game. 13 years later had 2 more and fell right back into it, but I had help. I'm amazed that all 4 are so close today.

I could relate so much on so many levels! My boy was just over a year when I got pregnant with my daughter, & I had all the same feelings, fear, & excitement as you. The pregnancies were SO different, like night & day! It took us 10 yrs & 4 miscarriages before our son finally arrived, so his pregnancy was so emotionally stressful & worrisome. My daughter's was a breeze, except I puked everything I ate, everyday, up until the minute she was born. No morning sickness with my boy & he was huge, my daughter was tiny. Six yrs went by & we had never conceived a 3rd so we figured it just wasn't in God's plan... THEN, Surprise! Along comes another baby girl. My heart just expanded triple in size... It's amazing how that just happens, when you think you could never love as much as your first. They grab you at first sight & then you're instantly over the moon, head over heels in love with them. I admit it is hard trying to divide your time & attention equally among all 3 so no one feels left out. My middle one struggles with feeling left out no matter how much extra attention I give her. I try to explain the baby (who's 9 months old now) is just super needy, & I try to have her help me with the baby as much as possible so she feels included, needed, & helpful. I can't wait to watch the rest of your story unfold... You guys are my favorite couple/family to watch! Congrats guys! Sending love, prayers, & positivity your way!🙏❤️😊👍

Please don’t worry about how Drew will do with this new baby. Kids are so resilient & she will be fine! There will most likely be a curiosity about him at first, & she will be more accepting than you realize! With my 3rd daughter, I was alone because my (now ex) husband bailed on me, and left me to fend with two kids and a new baby. Talk about overwhelming…..but it worked out fine, thankfully. I worried so much about what I would do if the baby was crying and my 2 year old was crying, and…..and…..it was a scary time! But it all worked out, and it will for you guys too. At least you have each other! Try not to worry so much, and try to enjoy this time as much as you can; it really does go by so fast, and it all works itself out. All of you will adjust to the changes; everyone just kind of goes with the flow!! You will be fine, and so will Drew, I promise!! I can’t wait to see your adorable son!! 💙💖

If the baby is awake when you need to put Drew to bed, put the baby in a bouncy seat and carry it into Drew’s room, do the nightly routine (I had to change the routine some and shorten it to one quick book and one song) then I just lay her down and tell her goodnight and she goes to bed! It’ll be great no matter what you end up doing. Most of the time baby is in bed while I do the nightly routine with my toddler though

I’m so incredibly excited for you guys as your sweet family grows! I too had a girl first and then a boy, and it was the sweetest thing. It is a big transition going from one to two, but you guys are going to do great and your love will only grow. I know you feel like you can’t possibly love another little baby as much as you love Drew, but you will. Love isn’t finite where you run out of pieces of a pie to give to those you love, and then once another baby comes you have to cut a sliver off of everyone else’s piece so that you have enough to give the new baby. You’ll always have more pie to give out, no matter how many children you have, and that love will only multiply. Congratulations, guys! Soak it up. They grow so fast!

Oh, and let me tell you guys - please don't worry about how you will 'share' the 3 of you with the new little man....when we were about to welcome our 2nd, I had the EXACT same fear, of losing the "3 of us" and having all that one-on-one time with my 1st born. But trust me when I say, you will be AMAZED at how much all of your hearts will open up so much wider when it's now a family of 4 - the adjustment period the first few months may be tough (it was for us), BUT once you're past that little hump....oh my gosh, it is so precious seeing the interactions with this new little human with you, your partner, and your first born. To see the relationships forming and bonds strengthening, it's a truly special thing. Seeing the bond my 2 littles now have with each other, I am so grateful she was blessed in having a little sister to go through life with, it's so beautiful to see them together. ❤❤❤ Just wait and see, you'll feel truly blessed and you won't "miss" it being just the 3 of you anymore.

Having two children is more difficult, but not impossible, because you are dividing your time between two kids for the first time. Everyday is a new adventure but you can do it. Your parents are a great resource ask them how they managed their time. Nap when the kids are napping. It will get you through the next year.

God gives you so much love for each of your kids & you will have an abundance! The 2nd baby is so much easier. You won't be as nervous and you won't be afraid to reach out for help & to nurses & doctors for tips or afraid you are doing it wrong. Id love to hear shawn talk about if having a daughter has changed her thoughts, or made her rethink some of the things she experienced while in elite gymnastics. Things like how hard she was pushed at such a young age/how hard she pushed herself; things like competing on injuries or wounds either herself or seeing other pushed to do that as an example. Some of the methods or rules used or in place in training her, no shade to her coach. The way scoring works in gymnastics when there's so many young girls in the sport and how that can lead to perfectionism and how that can affect someone. I know she's talked about that causing an ED for her. Things like that.

I don't know if you will read this but I have some good advice that a nurse gave me. She told me when I go home do not be holding the baby. Make sure that the baby is either sleeping or at your mother's house so that you can spend time with Drew. If you are holding your son, it could make Drew feel that the baby is a barrier. Also, I had my older daughter on the sofa to hold the baby. Make sure Drew can help with the baby in anyway possible.

Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy! 😇🥰 I had severe pre-eklampsia with both of my girls and they were born 31w4d and 33w6d so I feel like I've missed a lot of being pregnant 😔 but atleast my girls are healthy and alive! ❤️

You should name the baby boy Shawn! Especially since you named your daughter after Andrew! I think middle name Shawn would be very cute! My sister couldn’t decide on a name for her son until he was 3 weeks old!! He was name less for 3 whole weeks!! 🤣 it is a big decision!

Coming from a 2 time boy mom, you will almost definitely get peed on A LOT! And putting a toddler and an infant down at their respective bedtimes when your spouse is away is difficult in the beginning. But, eventually everything falls into a groove. My husband works nights, so we had to fall into the groove very quickly. It comes together if you work out a plan and stick to it. You guys will do great!

We only had one. I wish we would have had more. Pregnancy was not difficult for me although I was 35. My husband had a very hard time adjusting so I felt very alone.
