Hello beautiful ladies! My husband and I lost our beautiful baby boy 8 days after he turned 1, in a tragic accident. The hardest thing we had to do was to tell our 2 older kids that their little had passed. We juggled how they were going to deal with grief. All grief is different, but kids are resilient. But yes, do not hide grief, grieve with your kids. It's ok to cry its okay to show emotion. But don't stay in the dark spot because life is bright and yes its just a season in your life it shall past. Give God all his glory and seek him. Thats how we deal with it give it to God! You both are fantastic and God bless you both and your beautiful families 😊❤!!
We moved shortly after our first was born and then had 3 under 3.. so it was a lot in a new place with no friends! I started taking the kids to the “storytime” class at the library near us each week (same day and time) and met other moms who did the same thing - I think all my mom friends now, started at the library! It’s free, highly recommend for others looking for friends :)
This was super validating how much of a badass that I am being a single mom with sole custody. I realized how much I’m handling on my own hearing them both speak so much about how having a supportive spouse is so helpful. I would love if I could tap out during a toddler meltdown, but it’s all me! And I’m not complaining in any way, I’m just giving myself a high five for what a great job I’m doing handling a massive job all by myself ❤
Y’all talking about feeling mom guilt about working and working parents and thinking about your parents and their jobs and how great they were still even though they had to work made me SOB. Love you guys. Thank you for sharing. My mama heart needed this.
My son and his wife sat down with their 4 year old daughter and 2 year old son and informed them that they were going to get a new baby brother. After a few minutes of internalizing this news their daughter began to cry. when her father asked her what was wrong she said I don’t want a new baby brother I like the one I have. Lol
I'm so excited that Mallory is joining FM and I get to see all of her podcast now. BTW you two/four are AMAZINGS parents and it shows through your kids actions. Blessings!
Mal I have ALWAYS loved how much you talk about your love of family and motherhood!! It’s true we need more positive motherhood content out there because it is the BEST!!
My 3rd baby is wild as hell too lol 😅❤ she’s almost 2 and she is not afraid of anything! Completely different from my other kids they’re chill. Now I’m pregnant with baby #4 and Lord have mercy on me lol 😂
I agree... My kids are 38 yrs old...( Girl ) ...Grandma of 2 Boy ..My Baby...30 yrs old I see or talk / text either them Every Day or every other day... Just to touch base... They love spending time ...as the family... I work Alot...Love my job... Keep family...#1
Thank you for sharing about sleep training! I love it! It changed our world, our baby is so much happier now that she’s sleeping and I am happier as well!
Shawn: Have your doctor do an allergy test on your arm of all the things they use on you during the c-section, to see what you react to. Hopefully this can pinpoint what it is & they have an alternative they can use. Great episode. Thank you both 😊
Every single episode is fabulous! This one is my fav. I'm enjoying the conversation of close close friends. Beautiful topic. Beautiful conversation. Beautiful friendship intimacy (you know each others hearts). Yes, Beautiful but more than that. Strong. Empowering. Truly.
So encouraging to hear you both speak about the joys of motherhood! I’m in my late 20s and my friends are starting to have kids. My husband and I don’t feel quite ready yet, and I wonder if part of the reason why is because all of the “just wait till you have kids” “or enjoy your sleep while you can” comments. It can be so stressful. 😅
I love this podcast! I loved Mallory’s thoughts. I think even talking positively about these subjects & laughing will help so much! I feel that I can apply some of these things as a aunt & my relationship with my nieces & nephews. This podcast has made me excited for Mallory’s new podcast! I’ll have to tune in :)
On sharing motherhood/parenting of the happy stuff vs the tough stuff, the tough stuff is good for empathy, bonding with others on the same boat and knowing you're not alone. Sharing the happy stuff is in my experience is giving good encouragements to another mother/parent. Or even suggestions to try something different in their tough situation where they can take it or leave it. One time, as I was on the same boat as an other mom, I spoke to her about a happy stuff, gave encouragements and was supportive. A week later she spoke about what she ended up trying and that it worked out, to which I responded with more happy encouragement and glad she tried something I suggested and asked to tell me more about it. But for some reason she totally shut me down and didn't want to hear any of my suggestions anymore. She never explained anything either. And I'm thinking but it worked why is she upset? Never heard from her again... Yikes. Oh well.
Do you get a rash from the stickiness from bandaids? If so please ask your doctor if they used derma bond or any other form of liquid stitches. I am allergic and the itching is in fathomable. I too found out after my third section. Praying for you and your health little. ❤
Shawn, your c- section rash is an allergic reaction to medical tape. It's exactly what I had and would have scraped off my skin if it didn't hurt so much! I had a massive verticle incision, if that matters. I spoke to some drs and nurses and they said it's very common with women. Because it's localized, they can tell its not from eating something or a drug. It's topical. SOOOO...paper tape! It is medical and all hospitals have it. Hypoallergenic adhesive and the tape itself is like paper. Never had a rash again and I've had about 20 surgeries, etc. It works on all surgical incisions and because it's not as sticky, it sometimes needs to be replaced after a couple days. They sent me home with a package of it but you can get it at the drugstore, near bandaids. I'm also allergic to "elastoplast" bandaids that all hospitals use. Same rash. Now I get a red wrist band listing drug allergies and "do not apply surgical tape or elastoplast bandages". Also, Jetts rash can be... yeast. My granddaughter had it and needed prescription cream. But then, all went back to normal and it came back. Dr pointed out that we needed more prescription cream AND throw out all the cream at home. We had expensive cream we used every diaper change, but yeast is sneaky (babies can get it in their mouths too) our fingers were putting it on the rash and then scooping out more cream! Never thought of it. Never had it again after that. Also common but we don't know. It's from babies putting stuff in their mouths, with fingers too, in their mouth and in their diaper and you get the spread. Hope this helps. Message me if its unclear.
Also, about the rash, I had the same, turns out I have a chlorohexidine allergy! They can clean the area with something else- they didn't use the chlorohexidine with my 2nd c-section and there was zero rash. Hope you can read this and ask your doc about it!
I got a rash like the one you are describing Shawn after my first c section. Turns out I was allergic to the betadine prep the doctor uses on your skin prior to surgery. My doctor changed the “prep” to one without betadine and I didn’t get the rash with my 2nd or 3rd c sections.
I had the same rash, itching, pain after C-section. I'm allergic to the dissolvable internal sutures. Found out after a couple other surgeries. Just a thought.
We lost our 11 year old daughter and had a 7 year old son, I talked to him about it. I cried a lot and he'd sit beside me patting my back asking me is it Trisha? You have to teach them how to grieve, it's okay to cry and be sad but things will get better with time.
Love what you are doing! Just a tiny suggestion for Shawn. When your mic covers your mouth I feel like I can’t hear you! And as I am writing this I see that you aren’t always hidden. Reminds me of the masks. I think we all lip read. Thank you for lowering your mic!
My first pregnancy I was 17...I was 8 months along and went in for normal dr check up...and then they tell me there was no heartbeat😢 I never grieved the loss of Kayla..im now 45😢
He he.. We have the same Doc. I was like girl I know that name. I also get that rash but during pregnancy and afterwards. Its called PUPPS and its the frackin devil!!
You could be allergic to the internal sutures they use or the product they use to clean your skin for you incision or epidural. I had chlorhexidine gluconate and had the same rash from my chest to thighs and it was HORRIFIC! I had to take oral steroids and had my rash for 18 days.
Your super itchy rash after c-section sounds like an allergic reaction to the dermabond (glue they use to seal incision). I have experienced it in two different instances, and it is HORRIBLE!
i don’t know if anyone commented yet but please watch your sound levels. i’m using earphones and i can’t hear Mal. i’m at max volume, Shawn is too loud, i can barely hear Mal
This is hit or miss . I think y’all forget that y’all are in the 1 percent of Americans who have constant access to family help , childcare , etc . Saying someone should “ hire help “ as a solution is not doable for the majority . And doing trips so easily like you all is also not doable for MOST .
“Self care” is an annoying term/phrase to me. It feels “selfish” to me. When you are a parent, “self care” takes second position and that is as it should be. You fit in time for yourself when you can. And you enjoy it.

It sounds like it's the glue or adhesive they use after your surgery the same thing happened to my mom after she had a hysterectomy
Mallory’s laugh is great!! it’s so cute☺️

Just have them use dial soap,I had a reaction to and dial soap was the best they used
I LOVE you two together ❤

My mom turned on an episode of Roseanne 😂😂!!
Check for an allergy for Betadine --- I had the same thing
Great episode ❤❤❤
My person was my mom...she passed when my youngest was 6 months old...he is almost 19...just pull up your boot straps...and move along❤
Love what you are doing! Just a tiny suggestion for Shawn. When your mic covers your mouth I feel like I can’t hear you! And as I am writing this I see that you aren’t always hidden. Reminds me of the masks. I think we all lip read. Thank you for lowering your mic!
I have an iodine allergy and had the same reaction the first time!
Malory is so sweet, I could sop her up with a biscuit!!! 😊
I love you BOTH....
This volg is so Awesome...❤❤😊
I'm excited to know what 'It' is! haha xoxo
My first pregnancy I was 17...I was 8 months along and went in for normal dr check up...and then they tell me there was no heartbeat😢 I never grieved the loss of Kayla..im now 45😢
A girlfriend had that happen and said it was the orange stuff they use in surgery that she was allergic too! It may be the same for you ❤
Seasoned 😂 try having 3 younger siblings. I was seasoned before my first
He he.. We have the same Doc. I was like girl I know that name. I also get that rash but during pregnancy and afterwards. Its called PUPPS and its the frackin devil!!
Allergy to the adhesive on the surgical drapes? 👀
Shawn, you may be allergic to surgical glue. Or it could be whatever they are using to prep your skin.
You could be allergic to the internal sutures they use or the product they use to clean your skin for you incision or epidural. I had chlorhexidine gluconate and had the same rash from my chest to thighs and it was HORRIFIC! I had to take oral steroids and had my rash for 18 days.
Most likely an allergy to Betadine --- I had huge blisters all over the incision area and belly.
😂😂😂😂😂😂 9:54
Your super itchy rash after c-section sounds like an allergic reaction to the dermabond (glue they use to seal incision). I have experienced it in two different instances, and it is HORRIBLE!

Shawn, your allergic to the glue on the Steri-Strips. I have the same allergic reaction. You’re allergic to Mastisol.
9:42 Shawn re married couples: _'You have to work to like each other'_ Wow, really? How depressing.
This is hit or miss . I think y’all forget that y’all are in the 1 percent of Americans who have constant access to family help , childcare , etc . Saying someone should “ hire help “ as a solution is not doable for the majority . And doing trips so easily like you all is also not doable for MOST .
_'you all, y'all..'_
Shawn sounds like a latex allergy.
Exactly what I thought. I have that
I grew up the youngest of three boys. If you shave my head, you'll see nothing but scars.
