The scene with Nicodemus makes me cry every time. I know so many who chose not to follow Jesus completely; they want to keep one foot in the world and in their sin. For some reason, they cannot see what they are giving up. It is heartbreaking.
That scene at the end with Nicodemus wrecks me every time I watch it. I also love that Mary is the only one who notices Jesus's statement about Nico coming so close. She's got this connection with Him to the point to where she's the one to pour perfume on His feet because she understands something the rest of them don't.
lovely sentiment but I’m not sure the bible says that it was Mary of Magdala that washed his feet with her tears and broke the alabaster vessel of spikenard. I think it is a controversial enigma as the woman was not named in the story.
Ginger, you’re right. The perfume woman is identified as a prostitute, Mary is not. Being possessed by seven demons is problem enough. Anyway, Jesus doesn’t define people by their past, his love is real. The Good News is for everyone.
Regarding the scene where Nicodemus tells Shmuel "He's just a man..." I felt he was trying to protect Jesus and derail Shmuel from the path he was heading down. It never came across to me that Nicodemus was doubting or had changed his mind about who he believed Jesus to be. I have been watching this show daily for a year now and I enjoy watching videos that bring new insight and learning to the scriptures as well as light to things I did not catch and/or understand. Thank you for being insightful and entertaining.
I thought the same thing about Nicodemus. Not at all doubting the divinity of Jesus, but trying to make Shmuel think He (Jesus) was nothing to be concerned about. I think Nicodemus is fully persuaded that Jesus is God in the flesh, but did not feel he could convince Zohara.
Wow I cried like nichodemus did, I felt his sorrow so deep in me. I felt that this connection to how deep his sorrow was, is a gift. Even if he lived 2000 years ago it is still raw.
7:35 Sam nails it on the head. I've struggled with that a lot this year. The status quo is most often comfortable, change is most often uncomfortable. It's amazing how God has shown us his goodness over and over and over and yet we so often resist that call when it comes.
Oh, I can’t thank you enough Dallas and your crew for this wonderful production of The Chosen!!!!!!!! Am an 84 year old living in South Africa and have watched ever Season up to the end of Seaon 3!! THANK YOU ALL, and GOD bless you all!!!!
I am going through a lot of painful trials right now and you said something that I never connected when I have seen this episode in the past. You connected Jesus words to Eden, "I see you," with the scene with Nicodemus when he was talking about Hagar and Adonai El Roy, The God who sees. Your connection was just what I needed today. That my God sees me right now in the midst of what is going on. God's word and God's name has given me exactly what I needed today. I love you guys and love your station. God bless you and your families, and your ministry.
Nancy Albao - Your comment was so right on. I had noticed Mary's face when He called Matthew , but had to watch to see when Yeshua asks if anyone else is coming. Only because I had read about Hagar and done my workbook, did I catch the Adonai el Roi reference. Maybe it is a good thing - becoming familiar with the Bible in my twilight years. Things make sense. Looking forward to your next post! God be always with you 🙏
The scene of Jesus telling Eden; there is no sacrifice Simon makes that does not affect you, you have a roll in this," Wow the tears started flowing. We do under estimate what the value of our roll is. Sure, I am not Simon Peter, but if I can affect just one person believing in Jesus? That's worth it.
Nicodemus wanted to go with him so badly but he couldn't bring himself to do that to his family. I was crying my eyes out when he was crying around the corner. I hope they bring him back into the story after the crucifixion.
I don't think a man is FREE really unless his wife is on board. Nicodemus KNEW his wife would not support his decision to follow Messiah. She was NOT a kindred spirit
Watching this again, seeing this scene with Jesus talking about the sacrifices Eden will know in time, and how He can't make everything about it easier...it hits different after seeing season 3 ep 6
BTW, I have watched the scene (John 3) of Jesus and Nicodemus over 30 times. Can't stop the tears !!! I cannot wait for them to film regarding the Woman caught up in adultery. It's surely going to be powerful !!! 👍👍👍
Great review! One thing I haven't heard anyone point out is that Nicodemus' wife hadn't seen or met Jesus so didn't understand what was going on with her husband. Also that (at least in The Chosen) Nicodemus is advanced in age. Being in that phase of life myself, I know how very difficult it would be to walk long distances, sleep on the ground and deal with cold and lack of food. I know he should've trusted Jesus with all of that, but age does make a difference. Based on John 3, 7 and 19I I believe that Nicodemus did believe in Jesus. Just sayin'. 😊
Great review fellas. I enjoyed the commentary on the scenes regarding the writers content, as well as, your unique perspective on scenes paralleling scripture portrayals. Kudos Blessings
I appreciated the mentioning of the two wives and had not considered the opposite roles they played for their husbands, Simon and Nicodemis: Eden thanking Simon for obeying and following Jesus and Zohara telling Nicodemis she wants to return to their old life! Though Nicodemis spiritually is crushed when he can't let himself join with Jesus, will they portray God yet using Nicodemis later on to play significant roles in the promotion of faith and in support of Jesus's earthly work? Can God be happy with our work for Him even when we might miss the first call to us, but later follow His Spirit's leading at other times. I believe God mainly looks at the here-and-now and forgives the past stumbles as we repent and continue to reach toward Him with our hearts.
I paused it at 19:34 so I don't know if you mention it but immediately after that scene and exactly as you guys are talking about the he sees me experience, I was reminded of the passage where Hagar calls God the one who sees me.
Oh this is such a great review guys! I really look forward to your videos as uou always give so much messianic depth and work seamlessly with each other. Sam had some great HS inspiration today too 🕎✝️

I love Sam’a illustration around the 7:00 minute mark. It reminds me of the videos online where the parent is trying to give their baby a taste of ice cream and they refuse. But when they finally taste it, their face lights up and they want more.
I am sorry that you left out the last part of Isaac. We did not choose Him. He chose us. It is still relevant today. I did not choose Him. He chose me.
@@SeanWintersthat’s true but I wouldn’t say that it’s Calvinism I mean Jesus Himself said that His followers were not the ones who chose Him, but rather that He chose them ”You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.“ John 15:16 NKJV But you’re right. I really enjoy your reviews of scenes from The Chosen and the explanations of where and how Judaism influenced Christianity in their videos. I really do appreciate y'all for taking the time to teach us about these things that aren't in the everyday teaching of Christianity. I do have a small complaint with these 1st season videos. I feel like you cut off the scene you're watching and jump to the next; it feels jumbled. I do miss the way y'all did the videos of the 2nd season where y'all would watch the whole scene & then talk about it. Side note: When y'all were talking about wives influencing their husbands my first thought was of a scene from My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Where the mother said: "...The man may be the head but the woman is the neck and she can turn the head any way she wants..." 😆
No. Nicodemus knew admitting to Shmuel at that moment who Jesus really is would only ignite a dangerous wildfire, because Shmeul is not ready to listen.
Thanks for the territory angle! I've been hoping to connect more deeply with other spiritual practitioners on Tiktok to understand how their relationship works with their deities. It seems to mirror ours where our bodies are temples...rather than a particular land. Whatever the case, mind-opening!
May God protect you in your connecting, Ann. I wanted to follow Jesus because I found that in Him there is no darkness. With other 'deities' this is not the case. Imagine being the temple of a 'deity' in which there is darkness...not good for you! Please be careful. The God of the Bible is the God and Creator of the universe. May He bless you and keep you. xx
17:06 Just connected this but in The Chosen when Jesus said to Simon Peter and Andrew to put their nets down Simon Peter a bit hesitant and Andrew welling to do so. Its the same in the earlier episodes with the fish where Jesus said to Simon Peter cast your nets down and a lot of fish 🐠 came by.
Regarding Jesus's words to Simon at 10:00, coming from a different culture, upbringing etc., I never saw it or see it as something as "would Jesus say things like that" etc. To us, they are not hurtful or negative etc. In fact I chuckled when I saw that because I thought it was true according to this portrayal of Simon and its nice to see a portrayal of how Jesus would be like as a normal person as well. People say things like that all the time and it doesn't always induce any negative reaction or rather, many times there no negative intention behind it. So, I wouldn't say it was a "jab". I rather thought it was highlighting more of him being a normal human. However, yes, it is good you mentioned that this dialogue was non-Scriptural addition as we being imperfect cannot make everything perfectly. Just wanted to share my thoughts :)
I think, though Nicodemus didn't physically follow Jesus, he did believe in Him. Who knows, maybe God did use Nico to help keep the Pharisees off Jesus until the appointed time (see S2, where Shmuel and Yanni talk with Shammai.).
The Bible shows Nicodemus didn't have that kind of influence at all, which is why Jhn 3 shows him sneaking around in the night to talk to Jesus. He didn't want to be seen doing it because he was afraid of the other Pharisees and Caiaphas since he was the acting high priest at the time. Caiaphas had more influence than any Pharisee.
Hello Brothers! So as I was watching the scene with Nicodemus hiding from Jesus and you made reference to Nicodemus giving spices for Jesus' burial, I suddenly thought of something.... There were two Pharisees mentioned when Jesus died and was buried - Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus....it seems to me that it is a replay of Caleb and Joshua, the only two who believed in Israel's ability to enter the promised land and possess it. As far back as then, that all important lesson of faith in God and in Jesus the Son of God was being taught - even if you are in the minority that believe in Him and the odds seem against you, ALWAYS believe in Him! My thoughts anyway...I don't know how accurate the comparison is but I wanted to share it. Keep up the good work guys!
Hi Sam and Dr. Tom, lately I've been wondering a lot about the interactions between the Lord Jesus and the Pharisees, and it came to mind that they too were tested by the Lord. For example Luke 5:30-32 "But the Pharisees and their scribes complained to Jesus’ disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” Jesus answered, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” Where the Pharisees then should have realized that Proverbs 20:9 and Ecclesiates 7:20 is true and that all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.
I really enjoyed this video, and the heart felt commentary. Smashed that "Like" button and hit the Subscribe !! Don't get too hung up on John 4:22. Jesus is merely reiterating to the women about the status quo of their time. In verse 23, he begins debunking this notion. Not sure what version of scripture you're referencing ? However, in the King James version it does not state salvation "comes" from the Jews. Only the Lord God can offer salvation, not Jews. The belief in those days Jews were privileged "to" salvation. Here's a copy of the King James version of this.... "22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews." Of course, Jesus debunks this to the woman. Keep up the good work and humor ! ❤👍👍👍🙏
I LOVE Peter! None of the interactions w. him and Jesus OVER over correct the Larger than life, OPEN MOUTH INSERT foot, impetuous (AND THATS WHY I love him), Peter!! Have so, so many I am so grateful we will HAVE FOREVER TO talk to!! lol
“God's search for us is relentless. He keeps going after us.” Are you familiar with the poem, “The Hound of Heaven”, by the 19th-century English Catholic poet Francis Thompson? That hound is the Holy Spirit. God always wants us.
I think we need to acknowledge that Jesus had a sense of humor. 😂. Historical accuracy takes second priority here. The priority with this series is showing God’s grace.
I know, huh? However, think of the struggle we might have these days to "abandon" our families who depend on us--especially after that 'plea' Nico got from his wife regarding Family. I like to think I would do it in a NY minute, but what an emotional struggle that would be.
@@ondinaskye7773 Most definitely. And we have the advantage of the whole of Scripture. We know how the story ends! Praise God for giving us His Word!!!
Jewish: The goal of the law is to draw us to Jesus; Catholic: Living a life like Christ will draw you more and more toward Jesus--two ways of saying the same thing...the more sacrifices/suffering you make, the more sacrificial you become...(but isn't the law there to protect you from suffering?)...dts/usa
The first scene, which sparked your discussion about territorial gods, and the last scene at the well, which led to your emphasis on John 4:22 (salvation is of the Jews), support the Deuteronomy 32:8-9 worldview, the gist of which is that following the Tower of Babel incident, when Yahweh scattered and confused the languages of mankind, He set boundaries of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God (see ESV) - a reference to the divine council. But Yahweh created His own people and Jacob (Israel) is the allotment of His inheritence. Salvation is of the Jews because Israel is God's portion and salvation is from God. These sons of God were indeed territorial gods who failed to honor Yahweh. Psalm 82:1-8 reveals what happened with the sons of God to whom were given the other nations. In a divine council meeting, God excoriated them and punished them, saying that they would die like men. Yahweh has been winning the nations back through the witness of the Church since the Holy Spirit came at Pentecost.
That little bit of a Jab that Jesus says to Simon at early 10:15-25. Id say. Just look back in the scriptures and see if he said something similar rather then making guesses.

Your redemption is near. Stop “our” foolishness, and REPENT! Jesus is coming! Jesus is coming! Jesus is Coming!
I think He would not be adverse to subtle digs/teasing if it put the other person at ease or helped them accept His message
I LOVE Peter! None of the interactions w. him and Jesus OVER over correct the Larger than life, OPEN MOUTH INSERT foot, impetuous (AND THATS WHY I love him), Peter!! Have so, so many I am so grateful we will HAVE FOREVER TO talk to!! lol
He comes back around but lost the incredible journey!
Would you guys react to The Chosen season 3 trailer
3:40 I do not understand how they can miss this one.
“God's search for us is relentless. He keeps going after us.” Are you familiar with the poem, “The Hound of Heaven”, by the 19th-century English Catholic poet Francis Thompson? That hound is the Holy Spirit. God always wants us.
Man can't comprehend the powers from above but if you're not blind from the dark side you would see.
You cut the best part?
Jesus told them right after He called Matthew when he told Matthew they're having dinner at his house.
I think we need to acknowledge that Jesus had a sense of humor. 😂. Historical accuracy takes second priority here. The priority with this series is showing God’s grace.
I mean, Nicodemus HAD the chance to jump out and join them at that last minute…………….
I know, huh? However, think of the struggle we might have these days to "abandon" our families who depend on us--especially after that 'plea' Nico got from his wife regarding Family. I like to think I would do it in a NY minute, but what an emotional struggle that would be.
@@cindyintexas6533 I know, but like Jesus said: “there a a lot to give up, but what you’ll gain is far greater”
@@ondinaskye7773 Most definitely. And we have the advantage of the whole of Scripture. We know how the story ends! Praise God for giving us His Word!!!
I get it though. His age, his loyalty to family and religion. It would be a really hard pass.
Please react to The Season 3 trailer of The Chosen!!! ❤
QUESTION: If Nicodemus had followed Jesus..then ? 14 Apostles? Judas in or out?-❤
Hi y'all 👋
The first scene, which sparked your discussion about territorial gods, and the last scene at the well, which led to your emphasis on John 4:22 (salvation is of the Jews), support the Deuteronomy 32:8-9 worldview, the gist of which is that following the Tower of Babel incident, when Yahweh scattered and confused the languages of mankind, He set boundaries of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God (see ESV) - a reference to the divine council.
Hey Dr...your tiny mug is getting kinda big there! Do you need a new one? 😏👍
Hagr: Hebis the God who sees me
You skipped the best part on the last scene. Make sure you play the whole scenes.
Obedience > Sacrifice
To Jesus followers, you would believe salvation comes from Jewish people because he came from one and is one!
Hmmm ? that was several years ago?
Peter's mother-in-law is the most Jewish woman that I have seen in the entire series...dts/usa
Hesed- Grace
That little bit of a Jab that Jesus says to Simon at early 10:15-25. Id say. Just look back in the scriptures and see if he said something similar rather then making guesses.
😊
GET SOMETHING ON OUR MIND’S
He have shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee,
Mark the perfect man and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.

Beloved, if we get nothing else while on this pilgrimage journey traveling through this life, just remember, “only what we do for Christ will last”, only what we do for Him, will be counted in the end, only, what we do for Christ will last.
We that have been on planet earth for a little while, are seeing before our eyes the crumbling of this society, men’s hearts are failing for fear, seems like trouble is on every hand, but be filled with the Spirit, your Lamp trimmed and Clear, look up! Your redemption is near.
Stop “our” foolishness, and REPENT!
Jesus is coming! Jesus is coming! Jesus is Coming!
Allow the main thing of the main thing to be the main thing in our lives so we can be found among this called out group in “I Peter 2:9-10” KJV The Church of the living God!
Will you be save today?
