Hey grafted guys poor women of good reputation with no other supports or work skills often became washerwomen. My great great grandmother was a washerwoman in Alabama after slavery ended. Backbreaking work for pittance but it was respectable work in a community.

33:02 one thing that Veronica mentions is that she is banished from her family, meaning unclean women had no family, no roof, and no promise of food, just hoping that they would one day find hope because they were treated worse than the lappers.

It's not about just touching his robe. Many touched his robe. It was about her faith. It's all about faith in him. It's not about sitting in nice cushy seats, or a preacher who uses the good book for bigger churches. He didn't come to save the righteous, he came to save the sinner. He offers eternal life, not riches on earth. If they come great, congratulations. True wealth is what he offers.

"But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings [fringes or 'tzitzit]. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall." I saw this as a way to help those watching really focus on the Preaching and Miracles of Jesus Christ's Disciples! Instead of going, "Oh look, more cool scenes!", and then brushing them off, you could really focus and pay attention to the message, especially when it was presented visually and with music only.

Hello! I love listening to your reactions to The Chosen episodes. You mentioned that in season 3 episode 5 that the name given to the woman who had the issue of blood, Veronica, was a Catholic tradition. I am Catholic and never heard that. We have a tradition that when Jesus was on his way to the Cross, He fell and a woman came forward and used her veil to wipe Jesus face. The image of His face remained on her veil. She was as tradition goes, was named Veronica. I just heard recently that In Greek Veronica means True Icon. The true Icon remained on her veil. Shalom 💗

The name Veronica is from the 5th or 6th C, when a copy of an ikon of the Face of Christ came to Italy. It was called "Vera IKona" - 'True Image' -- but 'EIKON' is Greek, not Latin, so it was somewhat mangled in common speech. It became 'Ver-onica. Then it sounded like a woman's name, so the story managed to provide an explanation for a Woman having a perfect Image of Christ's Face upon a Cloth. This particular thing is likely the Image now at Manopello, in the Appenines, east of Rome. It is on a piece of 'byssos' cloth, made of the fine, translucent fibers, finer than spider's webbing, but spun into strong threads. It was "Royal Cloth" & mentioned even on the Rosetta Stone. See the book by Paul Badde, a German researcher, who interviews one of the last living
    weavers of this amazing cloth.

To speak to the Sanhedrin Scene, I noticed that Josephus, that one Pharisee, wasn't at the meeting! I think your prediction about him being Josephus of Arimaia was spot on! I think this scene was the meeting of the Sanhedrin where they agreed to work with the Roman Law to crucufy Jesus... It's just a theory, but it seems to check out! Also on one if the chosen adds, it shows Josephus coming to warn Jesus, so, that's kind of cool!

She's not given a name in scripture just like the gospels don't tell us Simon's wife's name or his mother-in-law. Although the name Veronica isn't in the bible, the woman who wipes Jesus face free of sweat and blood with her head scarf on the way to the cross has been given the name Veronica (by ancient early church traditions) because in Greek the name means "true icon." It's believed an image of Jesus face was left on the cloth. I wonder if Dallas and the writers know that? Happy for you rediscovering the gospels with The Chosen.

I, too, have felt the same way in the past. I considered myself as the lost sheep for a long time but it took the loss of a loved one to break me to my knees and ask. It is almost as if I was given a heart transplant and ever since my life has never been the same way again. I know that is it not too late for you! Come to him, knock on the door and it shall be opened for you! May God sweep his love over you like a blanket as he has done for so many of us, may he do for you and more! Your faith is the best thing you can have next to the Holy Spirit, you will not regret it, trust me! God bless you!

Even when we don't 'lose' our faith, we need him to save us repeatedly throughout our lives. The hardest step is knowing we need saving.
Consider that perhaps your faith was not 'lost,' but the self (faith) you had built demolished piece by piece; the materials replaced as they prove unworthy, unsafe. What you lost can now be replaced with new wood. Incorruptible wood.
If you lost faith it's likely because he has something better to give you in it's place.

They're questioning the traditions of the Sanhedrin. We should also question our traditions and our theology, at times. The disciples believed Messiah would be a military hero and would come and establish Israel, and He will, just not that time! When He was arrested instead, they fled! What happens to us if things don't happen the way we think they will? What if the rapture doesn't happen when we think? What if life doesn't go the way we think it should? Will we run?

This is my thought on how they keep harping on Tamar not selling her jewelry. Why should they have a problem with it when Jesus has said nothing? He knows Tamar better than even she does. If he truly had a problem with her jewelry or her reasons for keeping it he would address it in his own time OR allow her to see for herself. Mary and Yasmine should leave her alone about it. On the other hand, to be even minded, Tamar should not be so gung-ho about everyone else giving things up when she clearly is not willing to give up very much at all. Yes, she followed Jesus, but to her own admission, she is no longer connected with her family; she is no longer living in her place of birth and she is not married. What has she truly sacrificed, if compared to the others? She shouldn't be so anxious about selling off belongings that don't belong to her. I cringed when she was going through Matthew's things and planning to sell them off. I know he's given up his home and everything but still, it was just cringy.
In this I think the Chosen has done well in representing the different types of characteristics we carry today. It's easy to point fingers and chastise but we have to remember we ALL have short comings and failings we need to work on. I'm really glad they're not portraying these people as if they're perfect. Rather they're showing us, to us, by using the characters in the show. Beautiful!

So Eden does not say what she is thinking.... what she wants her husband to be thinking... She wants to believe that he loves her so so much that he is automatically thinking that he will be concerned about how she is feeling, how things went while he was gone, How is she feeling about him being away. Spend time ... sitting down .. close and talking about feelings. But... men being wired differently... selfishly ( but not on purpose) thinking about material things... BUT love is patient... right ? right ???🥰

Did I miss something? The Bible doesn't say the woman with the issue of blood had a name. The name Veronica is not in any of the four Gospels. The Catholic Church has a saint named Veronica and they say she wiped Jesus face when He was carrying the cross to Golgotha. But, that's a Catholic tradition and I only go with what is in Scripture.

Of course there's no way for me to know for sure, but I was thinking just today that she will show up as the Veronica wiping the face of Jesus on His Way to Calvary. That's a Sacred Catholic Tradition that might show up in The Chosen just like it did in The Passion of Mel Gibson. That woman would most certainly be a good candidate to do just that, especially given the fact the ONLY Women, among the disciples and friends of Jesus (other than John) were present at Calvary. Men fled like chickens and Judas betrayed Him of course. SHAME ON US!

I’m about a month late in seeing this video. I love the theological history you two provide. Just an observation of the excellent script writing of The Chosen. (I have only one issue that doesn’t appear in this episode.) Just as Yusef appears to be Joseph of Arimathea, I suspect that Veronica will be the Veronica who wipes the face of Jesus on His way to Calvary. If I’m correct about that, it will be interesting to see the transfer of Jonathan’s image portrayed as miraculously appearing onto Veronica’s veil. Your opinion?

As one who once was Roman Catholic (now more Evangelical in following Jesus/Yeshua), I know of Veronica as the woman who wiped Jesus' face as He carried His cross to Golgotha. Only found out now that she's been identified as the woman with the issue of blood. Good job, guys! Just subscribed to your channel

That isn’t in the Bible at all. Only Luke mentions women during Christ’s procession to Golgotha. The other gospels do not mention women. In Luke, it says “A large number of people followed him including women who mourned and wailed for him. Jesus turned and said to them, ‘Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children. For the time will come when you will say Blessed are the barren women’…
from what I have researched, the idea of Veronica wiping Jesus’ face came from a tradition centuries later than Christ’s death.

In church this week we studied Revelation 21 and it hit me like never before after having just seen this episode….these men’s names are written on the foundation of the wall of the new Jerusalem! Revelation 21:14-And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. On this rock, I will build my church! Mind blown!
