The Chosen has the greatest portrayal of Jesus I have ever seen! Most shows forget his humanity or overplay his divinity and drown out the humanity. This show is so powerful and such a masterpiece.
The other interesting thing about what he said to her is it's actually the verses that her Father had taught her, that she had obviously tried to memorize as a child. It was the verse she had written down and hidden inside the doll she had held onto even into adulthood, that she would try to repeat to herself when she felt afraid. But it was this paper she had ripped up when she had felt all hope was gone and had thrown over the cliff before she had planned to take her own life, before the dove - an obvious visual representation of the Holy Spirit - led her back to where she would meet with Jesus. Where he now calls her by her true name, that she had probably not told anyone for years, and then repeated back to her that verse. This time though it was coming from its originator, who had the authority to say it to her, and to declare it about her. He spoke it into reality over Mary's life, and claimed her for Himself as the Son of God, the Word of God Himself.
Imagine what it would be like to be standing there hearing "Thus says the Lord who created you, He who formed you." from Jesus and the words no longer sound like words but actually truthful, undeniable claims as to who was saying them. Even the actress reflects the weight of the words when she almost looses her breathe when he says them. It's like getting gut punched by the Holy Spirit so powerfully your own inner soul almost leaps out of you to be saved. Such a powerful scene.
this last scene is hard to beat, i still get chills even now. yet it dose get even better. For those who are new to Messiah Yeshua, they are qoeuting Isaiah chapter 43 verse 1......so powerful
The first thing He said to her (after "That's not for you") was her real name. She was known in this show as Lilith but her real name was known by Jesus. Just like after the resurrection, Mary Magdalene didn't recognize Jesus until He spoke her name.
Love your commentary and reactions! It's like watching it for the first time again seeing how it impacts you. Love this show and can't wait to hear what you think about the rest of the episodes
GodSquad Pastor, everything that Jesus said to her in that final scene was from the verse Isaiah 43:1 which she had learned from her father when she was little at the beginning of the episode. It was written down on that piece of paper which she tore up. This is a pattern of how Jesus first interacts with different people in other episodes. He knows where they've been spiritually and because He does, they know that He's connected with God.
We will be reacting to the rest of the series live on Twitch.tv/godsquadchurch but we have no plans to do more highlight videos of it here on youtube. :)
This was a special reaction we did with some of the episodes from season one in partnership with The Chosen. There are no plans to do reaction videos with the other seasons but we loved what we watched together as a community!
Good review. It seems like maybe your knowledge base of the Old Testament (Torah) is somewhat spotty? So maybe some of the way the Old Testament informs the New Testament is not really your expertise, and that's pretty common for Evangelical Christians. It's unfortunate because the Old Testament is vital for our understanding of the context of the Messiah.
Hi Jimmy! We streamed the episodes on Twitch quite a few years ago. We have no plans currently to do more reaction videos to The Chosen. Hope you enjoyed this one!
Hi Jimmy, we did those quite a few years ago and our replays only stick around for 2 weeks. This is the only one we have. But we do invite you to come hang out on Saturdays at 1pm/7pm ET for our church streams.
When it comes to exorcisms, it’s not just the power of the Holy Spirit, but the legitimate authority which Jesus granted to the Apostles and their successors the Bishops. And the Bishops can and do deputise certain Priests and Deacons with the authority to perform the rite of exorcism. Demons are legalistic and only take root where a person has granted them entry, usually by sinning, often by participating in the occult or living a life of sexual immorality, or if they have been placed under a curse, and sometimes even due to the effects of the sins of those who have authority over them like their ancestors. For the same reason, it is often helpful to have the afflicted person’s parents, particularly their father involved in the exorcism as a father has authority over their children. If you want a biblical example of Christians who tried to exorcise demons without any legitimate authority, see Acts 19:15. Mind, this scene of Nicodemus performing a pre-Christian rite of exorcism is purely fictional and so we shouldn’t try to take that scene too seriously. What is correct is that Mary of Magdala used to be possessed by 7 demons until she was delivered from their possession by Jesus.

I so agree with you.

Amen!
17:35 "You...are MINE."
I think every believer knows what it means to hear Him say that.

I know right!!! Your reaction at the end was the same as mine!! Bravo!

I am barely watching the show. I love it so much. Something I was always wanting. A version where we could all relate more to our savior. 👍🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼❤️
Love your commentary and reactions! It's like watching it for the first time again seeing how it impacts you. Love this show and can't wait to hear what you think about the rest of the episodes
Recent born-again Christian, and when you said, “Your past doesn’t have to determine where you are going”, it really hit home.
👍 Definitely can relate. Praise God for creating all things new!
This is an incredible series that encourages me to delve into the Bible!
Of course, this is just excerpts of the show. You have to watch the whole first show to get the full impact. This is a great series!!!
I love your reaction Pastor! Rewatch the whole first episode. The wedding and the fish episodes are my favorites!
I would love to see what you think of season 2! I love your excitement!!

This was a special reaction we did with some of the episodes from season one in partnership with The Chosen. There are no plans to do reaction videos with the other seasons but we loved what we watched together as a community!
Jesus said the same bible verse used in the opening scene and the same one Mary tried to read before tearing the paper.
I need to see you react to the rest of the episodes!
“Just seemed like a Jesus thing to do” 😂😂
I have a feeling you are going to love the calling of Matthew in Episode 7.

I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction, however I can’t find if you finished the season with reactions to each episode after episode one?
Glad you enjoyed it! This is the only episode we did a reaction to.
When will you react to the other 7 episodes??? 👍
Thanks for your interest, but we currently have no plans to react to the next seven episodes here on RUclips.
@@xpchurchforgamers where do you react to these then?
Are you going to do any more reaction to the other Chosen episodes?
Hi Jimmy! We streamed the episodes on Twitch quite a few years ago. We have no plans currently to do more reaction videos to The Chosen. Hope you enjoyed this one!
@@xpchurchforgamers I try your Twitch channel but I didn’t see any chosen videos there.

Isn't Jesus amazing? It's mind-blowing.
