Love my vortex. Put a 3600kv in it. Now I'm doing a custom project with it ... Just waiting on a couple parts to finish it up. 👍 Condolences with respect to your granddad
This truck is the one I wanted from the very start but somehow have not added to the collection yet. Definitely going back to the top of my list after seeing your take on it! This might be my all time favorite show, ever. Thank you for putting so much time and effort into it. As for tending to the kids.... lol. Yeh, RC cars are much better behaved, all things considered. Keep up the great work, and I am sure your grandpappy is watching along with us. Bless yall!
Ya I kinda always overlooked it thinking it’s a granite with a different body and tires, but it’s much different lol. Yes RCs definitely behave better! 🤣 Thanks bro! 🙏😊
I freely admit that I am a Vorteks fan boy. I have the full 3s line and it is definitely my favorite. I showed it a little love with a 4S center diff, wide arm kit, chassis brace, metal F&R diffs, and 2.8" UpgradeRC Dirt Claw tires. The car is absolutely the best of the 3S line. After mods it is still the fastest and best handling. But with new tires it now has a ton of air control and is a stunt monster. I am about $600 or $700 into the truck but I don't regret a dime of it. Also...My condolences on your loss.
Looks like you set the boost to 5, but if you didn't, it helps with flips. And yes, it doesn't let you go straight from forward to reverse. You have to double tap the trigger to go in reverse. Not the best thing for flips. The Vorteks is built for speed. It can wheelie, but mine is moody about it. With fresh tires and tight slop it can wheelie down the street. Btw thanks for actually driving it. Most just putter it around.
Just picked up my Vorteks last week. Absolutely love how it handles and it'll wheelie big time with decent 3s lipos. I am a little hesitant about how basically everything is plastic, even parts that on my kiddo's much cheaper rc car are metal like the drive shaft. Hopefully it was a design choice for weight and to allow flex where metal parts are not going to flex and will cause parts that connect to them to break.
Youre spot on with the metal parts. Even a lot of bigger cars are mostly plastic (though many are not). Its tough and is allowed to flex unlike metal 👍👍
Love my vorteks bought one right after it came out, upgraded the rear diff module to steel and put a hot racing aluminum case on it too. I put badlands on it too but now the system gets a bit hot on stock gearing
I've got the vorteks boost I've made it 4x4 and 4s now I've got to upgrade the slipper clutch as it's plastic in the boost model but you are right it's a totally different rc than any of my other rc's
Hi mate great video great vorteks 4x4 3s 😊. I got one for my grandson Ryett. I changed motor mount shockers and put tower to tower centre brace. Once differentials destroy them selfs I've got metal differentials and drive shafts. It a fantastic Skatepark basher. 👍🤪🤣🤣🤣
The shocks shafts seem to be a weak spot on mine as well on crooked landings. I have broke a lot of the front ones especially so I took the Traxxas gtr shocks and threw them on! Long and XX-Long did the trick for me! Seems like it fixed it.
Nice video. Always so fun to watch. Your review of the Arrma lawn dart was sweet. I have those KC-RC ramps in all the widths they offer and they are working great for me so far!
Awesome video! These comic reliefs bits are so much fun 🤣🤣🤣 props to your kids for that! Thanks to your review I know that I would prefer the vorteks over the granite, I've had my eyes on that purple vorteks for a while. And I bet this motor can take 4s (idk about the esc) that'll definitely help with in air control, i'd like to see that!
@@DerbyCityRCsure looked like it! Just commented on your Granite vid too. Big Tock, Vorteks or Granite… 🤔 hmmmmm yard (2s) and park (3s)…. Which one… just can’t decide!!! Lol
Great video as always. As I'm more of a driving basher than a stunt basher, the Voteks has always been on my short list. If the 4s Mojave's center diff module could be fitted to this, it might make it to the top of that list. Condolences to you and your family, Evan.
Awesome vid. I do love the looks and vid.. as for now, my next rc i think will be the omni terminator. The little jjrc rapid i got is a load of fun but im getting ready for something more. Love the video, love the content man
Hi mate yeah i changed on vorteks 4x4 3s the wheel hex to 12mm hex and 17 hex and 10mm wider and I'm running 1/8 buggy wheels. Looking forward to your next video mate 👍🤣🤣🤣
Fantastic job on the review and on all the bashing too. I am a proud owner of the Arrma Vorteks BLX 3s I also never bothered to swap out the stock pinion gear for the same reason you haven't I just don't have much space to play around with the speed of it but if I had it? I'm very sure it would very fast mine's love doing wheelies especially on the aspault I even still mange to do it on the artificial grass at my local park I go too near by me I figure maybe that's because I have the punch settings on my ESC set very high as well as the settings on the radio set to 100% for throttle now I don't do jumps with it mainly because I don't have any ramps nor do I have a skatepark around me also if I'm lucky I might get a tiny jump off a curve somewhere on the street?
Thanks! I’ll probably adjust my punch up too lol. You could consider one of those ramps I showed near the end of the video. Cheapest one they have is $159 or so and the big one I had is $223, which is well priced for the other ramps I’ve seen, especially being so lightweight. Beware though that’s when things can start to break lol
@@DerbyCityRC Yeah I seen a ton a video bashings to know that once a ramp or a skatepark is involved that's when the cars start breaking hench why I enjoy watching bashing videos more then doing them for myself LOL! Another great video sir🤘 but I think you need a 3s big rock just to make sure haha. I’m stuck between the big rock granite and vorteks , I’ve heard nothing but great things about the Arrma 3s stuff. Great content!
You should try to put the granite bumper on the vorteks and see if it stops digging in so much , that’s one thing I love about arrmas you can switch parts around from other Arrma cars.
Great video. These are much easier to control with a DumboRC control and reciever. Shocks and servo are other weak points, but easy fixes. Keep up the effort legend
hello, DERBY CITY, which shock oil do you recommend for ARRMA VORTEKS, i also have a HYPER GO , 1/14 which shock oil do you recommend? i really need your advice, thank you
I haven’t swapped shock fluid on either one. Really the best way to go is trial and error. I’d probably start with 50wt in each and see how it does. Adjust from there 👌👍👍
Bought a used broken one. Stripped diff gear and shot motor bearing. Looks like they get lots of dirt inside due to the hole on the bottom of the gearbox. Hope it holds up once it's back together....ran it once and it ripped! But that motor bearing was making a racket. Should have less than $250 in it✊🤞🤞
Great video as always and I'm an avid follower. If given a choice , what do you prefer, a brandnew Rlaarlo Omni-Terminator Metal ed. or a used but still smooth Arrma Granite or Vortex. I'm in a dilemma here.
I ended up getting that 2997A after watching your review. Man that thing is really awesome, I love it. I haven’t decided on the Vortex or the Big Rock as my 1st 1/10, this helps! What kind of camera is that mounted on the body? Always awesome videos! Thanks for the content!
You have my deepest condolences on the passing of your Grandfather. I was surprised you didn't break more things with all the lawn darts. I think the car performed extremely well on all the different surfaces. It was a great test and a great truck.
I had a Vorteks a while back and had two issues... Rocks would constantly lock up the steering, and rocks would also bind up and wear out the center drive shaft. Maybe they've resolve this with the version you have. Certainly seems like you've taken it to some rocky areas and had no issues.
Almost every car I take on the gravel gets the steering slightly bound, this one didn’t but could have been lucky lol Ya I could see rocks getting nestled next to the center shaft and cutting it up but luckily that didn’t happen either. Maybe they did do a bit of a redesign there!
That thing flies nice and level! I do like that he vorteks is low to the ground but those tires aren t great on the grass...hence no grass wheelies. It s kinda nice cross between the Granite and the Typhon. That thing rips with the speed gear too. Awesome vid as always man
Not sure a so don’t have the typhon, but I feel like this one would be more versatile since it can kind of drive like a buggy but still act like a stunt truck. The typhon may be able to do that too lol
I haven’t driven the vortex, I do have a granite. I put the “wide kit” on my granite that’s not actually a kit… 😂 I got the RPM arms for the typhoon/big rock and it makes the granite next level! It handles so much better and doesn’t roll over anywhere near as easy. You also have to get longer turnbuckles. I highly recommend widening the granite! You still have the shorter wheelbase for air control, flips and stunts, etc. and you have a wider stance for ground control, handling and drifting! It’s the best of both worlds! Although I haven’t driven a big rock or a vortex so I could be WAY off 🤷🏻♂️ Thanks for another great video!!
@@DerbyCityRC Awesome! I’m super happy with mine. Next I going to put 17mm hexs on and badlands wheels. I really want to put the center diff from the new Mojave 6s in it but I can’t use the $50 hot racing motor mount I put on, it needs a different one with the center diff power module.
@@DerbyCityRC I still haven’t found a set of heavy duty upgraded shocks I like. I’ve seen people use the arrma 6s typhoon shocks but they’re almost $100 for a set.
That vortex rips! You gotta do the 3s Typhon next. I know your not a buggy guy but that one will convert you for sure! It jumps so high and far, not the trixter so much but the way it hugs the ground and rips it up, man it is so much fun to drive.
That slower binding seems to be a gyro thing. My Felony has a gyro and it binds slower than any of my other RCs. I'm not saying that 100% is the issue, but I know the gyro waits a few seconds to get a baseline yaw reading, at least that's what my manual told me. And so far, Mr Manuel has not led me astray.
Yessir, this thing Rocks man , I love it! It really performs great , and the body shell and rear wing survived your torture test! That was something else 😝when you detoured out of your house after seeing what shenanigans your kids were up to! As always wicked fun video ! Seems that this vortex is a tough one! 💪🏽🏁👊🏼💯✨
Great info and entertainment as always, buddy! I like how the dead dude always happens to have the parts ready when you break them... Yeah, those plastic Arrmas are tough, I love them all!
Nice I just got the same ramp myself no fair I paid for mine lol it is nice I fit it in my hatchback no problem for the 36 inch I can easily launch my Xmaxx off of it. Can you turn the punch up? That will help with air control.
Glad to see others have tried these ramps! 36” is still a good size for sure. Might even grab a small one soon to bring places even easier. I believe you can turn up the punch, but I didn’t tho k about it lol. I also don’t like changing things for review videos cuz then it’s not “stock,” but ya I didn’t think about lol Thanks!
I use this one. It’s not bad, but can’t seem to find anything better that doesn’t require your phone, which I prefer not to need to use. usa.banggood.com/custlink/K3DHoo4GRP
Newbie here, looking to get my first rc car soon. Between this or the Granite, which would you say would be the better choice between the 2 for my first/only rc car?
Well I’ll ask you this. Plan on doing big jumps and trying to learn backflips and doubles and front flips and not a lot of ground maneuvering? Or wanna rip around on the ground with some decent jumps here and there?
Mainly staying on the ground with jumps here and there, but then again this would be my first rc car, so that could all go out the window once I try it out 😂 I did end up going with the Vortek. What's the biggest mah battery that can fit it? Or your recommendation on what battery would be best? As far as Performance, not concerned with price.
@aquablaster86 I was gonna say borteks anyway, as you can see it can still handle the flips pretty well. The biggest I have are these: amzn.to/4bLaviX But it looks like these are the same dimensions and are higher capacity. I’ve had my zeee batteries for 3 years almost and they’ve been perfect. amzn.to/3QSSCGU
I like your energy, the part with the kids, the aliens and the skeleton bro. Try the Granite wheels on the Vorteks to see how it behaves in backflips and frontflips and in general driving. Your content is cool man, you are one of the coolest youtubers i have see.
The Vorteks is the better, faster, larger, more fun car, with the one thing better about the rlaarlo being the center differential. It’s an awesome car for the price, but I prefer the Vorteks.
Another awesome vid bro, I only thought you 2 little uns, now you have 4 🤔,,do you grow erm in your garden lol,, a suggestion for a vid for you, MT10 vs arma vortex, just mention Bernard rc,😅😅😇😁☺️😉👍
Funny Video😂 so far actually like the slipper clutch =wheelie machine😊 Truck has surprised me since day1. Now on 4s 130a and rc4wd rear metal axles for that hi punch power! Stock motor/gearing and this things insane on 4s Always will have a Vorteks or two around.
@user-nu2pp5tc5q It does! I definitely liked mine, which is the aluminum version, and the CF has a ton more things on it for only $50 more. I’d say it’s worth it!
Thanks! I have actually, only the Bezgar version. This is literally the exact same truck minus the body color: ruclips.net/video/7w2ffMKLm3Q/видео.htmlsi=ElrznkcSsnV8CZRJ
About the binding delay……You likely already know, but the Vorteks comes with a gyro. It needs to be bound on a flat surface and takes an extra few seconds to calibrate.
I use this: amzn.to/49DB3Si It still lets go sometimes but I would prefer that when the camera is in a dangerous spot if the car crashes lol. Sometimes I reinforce it with electrical tape.
after watching your video for the WOV Racing RC Monster Truck I was going to get that one now after watching this video I don't know what one to get. if you could only get one what would it be?
Haha sorry to make this difficult. Uuummmmm. Man that’s tough. This handles a little better for sure. The WOV is bigger, a little slower, but also has the center diff. Though 44 mph is plenty for me lol. When it comes to big crashes, I feel the Arrma might handle that better but in the one video of each so far, broke the exact same parts on each truck lol. Parts for the wov are now available on the buddy RC site, so parts availability is good for both. Really can’t go wrong with either but a seriously tough question. (Whichever you decide, if you use the links we provide for any RC, it helps us out, so we always appreciate that). I want to say the WOV due to the size for the money, but Arrma has the familiarity of being tried and true over the long term (though still has issues). If you have any other questions, I’ll do my best to help you decide lol
when I do make up my mind 100% I will use your links !! I have 2 of the little ones you got from temu I got mine from amazon then I saw your videos. your videos are great! keep the excellent work going @@DerbyCityRC
Another great video thank you, You can modify your granite with The arms from the Big Rock to give it a wider stance there are some videos on RUclips. Condolences on your grandfathers passing.
True I should have brought that up actually. Weirdly enough this handles almost like it does have one. Maybe because of the AVC. But you will still have the likelihood of a worn slipper clutch or needing to adjust it from time to time. I had more fun with this than I do with the Mt10, but overall, I definitely prefer a center diff.
People used to say that was the only fragile car in the Arrma 3s line, but i think you pretty much put that myth to rest here. Nicely done!
Yup not exactly my experience lol, but I think the taller suspension of the granite does likely help a bit!
Thanks dude!!!

Thanks, you’re welcome, and I know you’ll love it!!
That thing flies nice and level! I do like that he vorteks is low to the ground but those tires aren t great on the grass...hence no grass wheelies. It s kinda nice cross between the Granite and the Typhon. That thing rips with the speed gear too. Awesome vid as always man
Thanks Phil!! Still haven’t widened my granite but definitely plan to. Then it might give this a run for its money lol
Would you say its better than the typhon? Trying to choose between these 2
Not sure a so don’t have the typhon, but I feel like this one would be more versatile since it can kind of drive like a buggy but still act like a stunt truck. The typhon may be able to do that too lol
Love my Vortecks it’s been a blast
I’m a new happy owner!
I like your format, that intro was hyped up lol
Hah, thanks!!
Granite upgrade vid definitely in the plans for soon and this will certainly be part of it! Thanks man
Did that to my Granite a while ago. Definitely more stable, it rarely flips over other than on bad landings.
LETS GOOOO IVE BEEN WAITING FOR YEARS 😂😂😂❤❤❤ THANKS MAN
Random question: have you ever tried putting the Vorteks wheels and tires on the 2997a? I’m thinking they’d look the business plus better function.
I have not, but not a bad option. Im doing a video now where I do try some different tires, just not those. They might be to wide lol
Excellent content bro!!!💯🔥
That’s dude!! 😃🤘🔥🔥
Love that Vorteks!- gotta get one‼️👍👍🦾🦾🤘🤘
It’s a good one for sure!!!
Yessir, this thing Rocks man , I love it! It really performs great , and the body shell and rear wing survived your torture test! That was something else 😝when you detoured out of your house after seeing what shenanigans your kids were up to! As always wicked fun video ! Seems that this vortex is a tough one! 💪🏽🏁👊🏼💯✨
Thanks Robby! RCs are better behaved than my kids 🤣🤣
Thanks 😊
Great info and entertainment as always, buddy! I like how the dead dude always happens to have the parts ready when you break them... Yeah, those plastic Arrmas are tough, I love them all!
Thanks man! Dude my parts supplier is on top of it for sure!! Yup doesn’t beat the Arrma 4s at all, but I love me a fantastic plastic!
1st American I've seen doing the raffle, wasn't sure we could. Just bought some tickets. Keep up the good work 👍
Ya man, thanks and good luck!
I also don’t like changing things for review videos cuz then it’s not “stock,” but ya I didn’t think about lol
Thanks!
@DerbyCityRC absolutely I do the same for my reviews leave them stock as they come so people know what to expect.
What gps speedometer do you use? Having a hard time finding one. And keep up the great videos!!
I use this one. It’s not bad, but can’t seem to find anything better that doesn’t require your phone, which I prefer not to need to use. usa.banggood.com/custlink/K3DHoo4GRP
@DerbyCityRC Thanks man!
Hey man, I followed you from when you did the HB X 2995 conversions I still have mine and it goes 57 miles an hour now I locked my center diff
What mods?
Nice dude, that’s some speed out of that thing! Locked it as in it failed, or you purposely locked it?
The biggest I have are these: amzn.to/4bLaviX
But it looks like these are the same dimensions and are higher capacity. I’ve had my zeee batteries for 3 years almost and they’ve been perfect. amzn.to/3QSSCGU
Great vid keep up the work 😮❤❤❤
🔥🔥🙏
I like your energy, the part with the kids, the aliens and the skeleton bro. Try the Granite wheels on the Vorteks to see how it behaves in backflips and frontflips and in general driving. Your content is cool man, you are one of the coolest youtubers i have see.
Thanks so much man! Good suggestion on the tires!
My neck is sore just from watching that thing plant itself into the earth! hahaha Well done as always, sir!
Haha dude imagine being in that car 🤣
Thanks!!
Do they make any with belt in gyros that automatically stabilise or is that a bit too high tech and expensive?
Well the Losi Promoto dirt bike does lol. Other than that, not that I know of. That would be kind of cool though.
Hey man, Can you take a pic of the 2997A next to this truck? Im trying to get a feel for the difference in size. Thanks!
Yes I’ll send you that!
Do you think a proline pro tek fusion body would fit the Vorteks? Thanks. Scott
Unfortunately I don’t know 🥲
Best vid you have done ✔️ EVER AMAZING VID AND I LOVE THE VORTEKS
What is the name of the mini camera you use in the car?
That intro deserves a like!
Thanks! 😃
@@DerbyCityRC I kept repeating the intro because it's awesome! 😁
lol do you mean the aliens driving the truck part of the intro or the box slide? 🤣
@@DerbyCityRC both actually 😂 love the unique way of introducing the product. Keep up the awesome work!
Help me, do I get this Arrma Vorteks OR the new rlaarlo omni terminator?? I want the best overall car.
The Vorteks is the better, faster, larger, more fun car, with the one thing better about the rlaarlo being the center differential. It’s an awesome car for the price, but I prefer the Vorteks.
It's the best Arrma RC, that's why I have two!
Another awesome vid bro, I only thought you 2 little uns, now you have 4 🤔,,do you grow erm in your garden lol,, a suggestion for a vid for you, MT10 vs arma vortex, just mention Bernard rc,😅😅😇😁☺️😉👍
Yup 4 dude! Lol thanks man!!
Funny Video😂
so far actually like the slipper clutch =wheelie machine😊 Truck has surprised me since day1.
Now on 4s 130a and rc4wd rear metal axles for that hi punch power! Stock motor/gearing and this things insane on 4s
Always will have a Vorteks or two around.
Thanks!! 😊 yes this is one heck of a car!! 4s would be amazing!
Dang it..I just was getting ready to sell mine, watched your video and now I want to keep it😅 (and buy sonething else.) Keep the videos coming 😊
Haha, you won’t regret keeping it 🤣
What else you gonna get?
Omni terminator carbon fiber version. Looks really good!
@user-nu2pp5tc5q It does! I definitely liked mine, which is the aluminum version, and the CF has a ton more things on it for only $50 more. I’d say it’s worth it!
I guess as an "experiment...ahem,cough cough" I will have to do both..keep the Vorteks and get the Omni...strictly for scientific purposes of course.😂
@@DerbyCityRC Are the Esc and Motor the same between the carbon and aluminum?
Great video! You should review the hyper go h14bm as a budget rc
Thanks! I have actually, only the Bezgar version. This is literally the exact same truck minus the body color: ruclips.net/video/7w2ffMKLm3Q/видео.htmlsi=ElrznkcSsnV8CZRJ
@@DerbyCityRC I’m watching it now thanks!
@Lemon826YT you’re welcome!
About the binding delay……You likely already know, but the Vorteks comes with a gyro. It needs to be bound on a flat surface and takes an extra few seconds to calibrate.
I knew it had one, but didn’t know this. Which makes sense. Thanks!
I have one. Love it!
Amazing vid imma sub I love the vorteks ❤
Thanks bro, glad you like it!! 😃
Very cool, definitely a good beginner RC, 🔥
What do you use to stick your camera to your car?
I use this: amzn.to/49DB3Si
It still lets go sometimes but I would prefer that when the camera is in a dangerous spot if the car crashes lol.
Yup I have a video in the near plans for this, thanks!
I appreciate the condolences man 🙏😊
Any comment on no centre-diff? Love the Vorteks, but wonder if an MT10 (with the centre diff) handles better?
True I should have brought that up actually. Weirdly enough this handles almost like it does have one. Maybe because of the AVC. But you will still have the likelihood of a worn slipper clutch or needing to adjust it from time to time. I had more fun with this than I do with the Mt10, but overall, I definitely prefer a center diff.
If I knew what I was doing (and I don’t) I’d look to lower an MT10, add a wing, and tune for a low-altitude agile handler.
