I found the second half of this video enlightening.This is the first time I've heard anxiety, boundaries, and assertiveness, discussed in a interconnected way! I think I feel most comfortable in passive or passive/aggressive, I honestly don't think I can tell the difference between assertive or aggressive, when I have tried to be assertive in the past I just get feedback that I'm being aggressive, so I think I just decided to give up on any communication. Just smoulder over in the corner of life.

Great video. I love the examples. And seeing how healthy civil assertion skill promotes better self confidence and boundaries very clear. Let's practice everyone, training our assertions muscles starting with small issues and then increasing the "weights" as we get stronger. 😊
I have never seen anyone in your profession who can explain a condition, add anecdotes, and move forward, still citing helpful resources, without getting pulled into the milieu of the audience and their (ok, our) pain.

I think it would be easier to learn the finer points of assertive communication if you actually knew what you wanted to say and the other person actually wanted to hear what you wanted to say.
What is the difference between being passive and generally not caring if you don’t get your way? In the pickle example, I would be the type that would just not make a big deal about it and take the pickles off myself. I guess if it was more cumbersome, like relish, I would have them remake it without the relish.
Yes, I probably should have said that this is only if you really don't like pickles and that leftover pickle taste! 😂 If you truly don't care, then there is no need to say anything. And of course, it is more about the pattern - if one regularly holds back and does not speak up for themselves, then it is probably holding them back in life... Thank you for your question!
I think passive aggressive pickles example would be to say “I paid myself your tip for removing those pickles that I didn’t want from my sandwich” to the waitress when you pay the bill

In my country i couldnt say " do you think, you could bring me a sandwich...' it would be considered passíve agressive because the waitress would think: it has nothing to do with my thinking, it wasnt me who did the sandwich... And them i wouldnt want to est the Next One, for sure
I see why I just let things go. When I was growing up in a War Zone as a preteen my preferences were met with Belittling, Shaming and Raging from a Borderline Birth Mother her Drug Addict F Buddys and Neighborhood Bullys. Never Again I say.
