Impressed by the George I farthing. I've a pristine 1807 George III Britannia penny, and began collecting when shillings and 2/- florins remained in circulation doubling as 5 and 10 p coins all thru the 70s. Amazingly, with help from my pub landlord grandfather, Edward VII and George V would still pop up, with George VI and Elizabeth II most common. My first pocket money was a Tanner (sixpence) and post decimalisation remained in circulation as 2 and a half New Pence ! (Silver struck til 1947)
The important thing is they are cool , and you enjoy your coins , Get some idea of their value and put that amount on your cardboard so your family has some Idea , also create a charter of what you remember paying for the coins and a story list about where and how you got the coin , Happy Collecting :) QC
WOW! Your coin collection is cool,my old british coin collection is a,1781 half penny,1797 penny, and a 1957 2 pence. Sencirly:Victor Cristian Concepcion Taylor. July 2014.l am 8 years old and I have a big coin collection!
wake up fellow collectors and smell the coins your going to find today.its time to really look at your coins to see what you have.I look at mine every day.
My first pocket money was a Tanner or sixpence. After decimalisation, the shilling or Bob and 2 bob florin doubled as 5p and 10p coins til almost 1980. You could still come across (in order of number) Edward VII, George V and VI and Elizabeth II. Obviously, when they reached the Royal Mint the early silver was impounded, but I loved the designs. I've got silver thrupennces in each of the 3 Victoria heads (rare early bun and mid coronet, old widow head massmade for Jubilee). Keep it up !
I have some coins with a hole also as with 5:07, coins as a necklace seem quite common online. I wouldn't say I was a coin collector, my habit is simply not throwing anything away. I have more than a few coins handed down, but the earliest are dated from the late 1800s to early 1900s. I didn't know the two shilling coin was called a 'florin' though. I wouldn't mind putting all of the coins I do have into some kind of folder so they don't wear, although the method shown here would take up a fair bit of time
For those who don't know, when the 1911 shilling was made that was the year George V was crowned, and then the 1887 florin, that was the year Queen Victoria celebrated her golden jubilee on the throne.
Nice collection you have going there, I have a large British Collection going of my own in my video's, I buy in most of my coins at 10p GBP which is about 16c USD from Queen Victoria through to Queen Elizabeth II upto the year 1970 when Decimalization came in for us in the UK in 1971 with new coinage produced. I am collecting every year minted coins for each denomination made and I have most of the lower denomination coins so I can now buy in the higher Silver's etc, .925 Silver British Coins stopped in 1920 and became .500 upto 1946 and then became Cupro Nickel from 1947 onwards to 1970. Our new coinage is now cheap Steel Core with very thin Copper or Cupro Nickel coating and probably worth less than it's face value in terms of precious metal content sadly :-( luckily I do not collect these other than to spend on the Pre Decimal Coins :-) GL & HH
I have two coins, old one penny ( 1-For King Edward DVS.VIII. Minted in 1908 ( 2- For King Georg.IVS.V.Minted in 1917 ) .please my Dear , is there in England or USA ,, Auction sales like this coins and How much Dollar can give it to me,,What the good prices of that two coins, Thank you.
British silver coins from 1945 and before were actually made of silver. After 1945, they were made of cupro-nickel. This was due to the fact that Britain was heavily in debt to the USA because they lent Britain a vast amount of money to pay for WW2.
There are 56 state quarter coins, The National Parks quarters program not only included national parks, also included national military parks, national recreation áreas, national historical shrines, national scenic riverways, national forests, national peace memorials, national ecological preserves, national wild life refuges, national blue ridge parkways, national parks and preserves, national Frank churches of river of no return wilderness, national lakeshores, national historical sites, national monuments, national monuments of America, national seashores, national historical parks, national preserves, and other national sites, i have 4 quarters coins of 2013.
thanks for you video you have the same enthusiasm as myself though I think I am probably 60 years older ,BTW, I have found myself a UK Fourpence, very worn but who cares, Plus I just got a EF 1797 Twopence, Regards Alan
Yes they were, the shilling and 2 shilling coin remained in circulation until the 5p and 10p coins were reduced in size in 1990 and 1992 respectively. They were finally demonetised on Jan 1st 1991 and Jul 1st 1993 respectively.
You said 1885 Queen Victoria halfpenny, misreading 1835. To explain: Coins minted in her reign went thru 3 Heads 1. early Bun Head 2. mid Coronet Head 3. old Widow Head (mourning dress/tiara) after 1871 Golden Jubilee, later coins imprinted IND IMP for Empress/Emperor of India (to 1946). Tradition remains: Name (eg. GEORGIVS III in Latin) then D.G or DEI GRATIA (thanks to/by Grace of God), REX or REG/REGINA (King/Queen), F.D or FID DEF (Defender of the Faith) to the present. Hope helpful !
I have a one penny coin from 1967,that I think has two errorss,I would like you to tell me an email, for me to send you some picture of the coin, and then give me your opinion. And to know, for what price,I could sell it. I,am spanish (Gran Canaria island) Thank you

I usually do gaming videos but if you would like to see me do a video of me showing my coins then i would be more than happy to.. My coins range from a price range of £30 all the way up to £700.. I am from the uk and have collected coins for the past 20 years. I could help you find out or may already know the prices of many british coins from celtic onwards. I could send you my email address if you would like it, if you could send good quality pictures of the coins I can reply back. one other trick is to look up ebay uk,here you can find a rough price but coin prices change often and as where I live, prices for british coins are higher than buying from abroad,i have many American coins from the last century and they are worth very little over here, yet American price guides are very much different. hope this helps.

Silver coinage in the UK ceased in 1946. Thereafter, cupronickel has been used.

and for your information coins from 1920 + are only 50% silver upto 1946
I believe the Queen Elizabeth shillings were still in circulation in decimalization times as 5p coins. They look very familiar!!!
+002DrEvil Thats right, the Shilling was use until 1992 and the two Shilling coin was used until 1993
+Indiebeatle no it wasnt

Sure were.☺ I remember finding a 1943 silver shilling in my change in the late seventies. I still have it in my collection.☺

It's obviously not 1835 since Victoria became queen in 1837. If the coin dated from 1835 it would have William IV on it.
You forgot the Gothic Head coinage, making four.
I'm from the uk I collect new and old coins nice collection
uk coins before 1920 are .925 silver and 1920 to 1946 are 50% silver, hope this helps

What's the £700 coin - is the expense down to age, and-or one of those rare coins with a hiccup in the manufacturing process
