    A pre-65 US dime is a established amount of silver, same for the pre-1920, 6d. The good thing about junk silver is that it is money returned to circulation.. In the not to distant future, you might be able to fill your gas tank with two silver quarters but a Kugerrand would pose a problem.
    Coin rarities complicates things so stay away from proofs and rare date "rounds"

    Up to 1920 they are .925 Sterling Silver. 1920-1946 they are .500 silver so still have a scrap value. .999 silver is too soft, hence sterling being .925 alloyed with copper to make it harder wearing. The crown will be worth around £20-£25 as it is in better grade. The others are worn so will only be worth the scrap silver value.

      Funny, my collection is British as I'm a Brit but I've bought a walking liberty and I want a Kennedy half dollar. My favorite U.K. Coins are the florins. If you want any current currency let me know! Maybe we could swap or something? 🙂

      I wouldnt consider any of them.

    The 1st crown - Jubilee Head -weighed would have collectable value which would be higher than silver weight... It's not all junk.

    As far as the UK coins are concerned, you've missed out the double florin. It was minted between 1887 and 1890. The value of these coins are way above the scrap value.

    Yes, dont clean coins or you will ruin any value by 90%. The only time I would clean a silver coin is if it is high grade but has badly toned over the years. Jewellers silver dip can be used to remove unsightly toning without damaging the coin, it will bring it up shiny without scatching it.

    I like seeing different coins from around the world and learn about their silver content history. It's a shame the banks are pushing everyone into a cashless society. Coins were even removed from casinos years ago. Our virtual reality all on a screen.

      +Domo The gov't wants you to spend, spend, spend to keep up the growth so they can kick the can just a little further down the road. Easier to spend chips, tokens, clad, bills, and especially credits on a screen or credit cards than real money i.e silver/gold.

    • @TheModernSurvivalist
      @TheModernSurvivalist  8 лет назад +10

      +Silver Rush Thats one point, but the FAR most important one is this: With silver (and gold) you had real money, something of real value that someone had to go and mine, you cant just make it up. With virtual money and fiat money in general, its just created out of thin air. When you exchange your labour and goods for something that was created out of thin air by someone, that someone owns you. That someone would be the super rich who own the banks and large corporations. Ahh.. yes,its sad, but its better to know the truth.

    • @silverrush2508
      @silverrush2508 8 лет назад +1

      I agree that the gov't should switch back to Silver & Gold for money, but I don't think anyone "owns" me, just because I use Fiat money...

      925 ? Many coins are Sterling Sliver. We started to mint our coins in Sterling Silver pre 1158 in the UK so they have been around longer than some nations have existed.
