On the amount of waste I have a small grow tank it’s filtered from a bottom drain through a tempest and back over a shower. I was feeding takazumi food ( which is a decent food) I had to clean the tempest every 3 days or it would start to block with waste , since moving over to saki I’ve not had this issue I still try to clean tempest every 3-4 days as means of water change but far less waste comes out .

just looked at the price...OMG...I was so pleased I was sitting down. I bought a 5kg tub of food from a different company ( I haven't named them as I am not sure if that is allowed ) and the fish have grown substantially with much better body definition. I enjoyed the Saki talk but I'm afraid it is way out of my price range.

I have a 15kg sack of balance at the ready. At shows if you ask you can pick it up with a little discount. It is one of the best for your koi but, its use is relative to the progression of the buyer. For example, someone who sees koi as a koi and can't see quality then they aren't likely to spend big on food. I think it also takes time to desensitise spending cash on the hobby 😂. I think the spend on quality grows be it goods or koi.

Using the correct diet and 18C water with low organics. Minimal feeding is important.

Saki Hikari Pure White does work incredibly well although expensive.

@@Ricky_Stoddart_Koi 18c would be impossible for me. i am here in florida USA. my water temps are probably between 22c-29c most of the year. I have a very nice sansai 5 step marudo kohaku that i would like to potentially enter in a show. I do currently feed heavy with saki hikari growth mixed with saki hikari color. the girl has grown from about 31cm-54cm in a little over a year. i started feeding some high silk which started to help a little. i will give the saki pure white a try as well.

As good as Saki is I find it very hard to believe that they have some magic that other companies haven’t cottoned on to. Business simply doesn’t work like that. I don’t know how but they are good, not just for koi, they do some very good tropical carnivore food, people moan about the price of koi food, hikari massivior pellets for arowana and stingrays etc are not far off £100/Kg 😂

I would like to gently caution all fish parents, on fish food and pellets that promise very fast growth, because hormones are added so that the fish grows faster, and many times so fast that their body cannot catch up or that their genes simply do not support growing that big, and therefore the fish develops TUMOURS instead....
My fish were all fine and healthy until I added these pellets to their diet and one died, with tumours on him inside out. After I threw the culprit away, indeed the rest of my fish are saved. I am very sure we don't mind our fish staying small after all, right?! At least they stay healthy and not die.
The ironic truth is that fish grows anyway with sufficient food, so why feed hormones to force it.
So be very careful of those food and pellets that promise very fast growth.
