My aunt owns koi and I can definitely confirm Chagois are the best koi. Not the flashiest, but definitely the friendliest/most interactive. I adooree them
Those were some amazing koi!! By auto-feeder, I'm picturing Jimmy chained to the pond 24 hours a day dropping in worms and peas and shrimp... Of course, everyone knows if you really want to put size on something, you feed it brisket.
4 Koi grown as large as possible in one summer, and we get to see the results? Cant really see it as a win/lose scenario - sounds like a win win win win...
Cory (or anyone else)- do you have a video about Ph anywhere on your channel? I know fighting the Ph is a bit of a losing battle without RO, but i'd love to hear your take. Pretty much all of my community fish prefer and breed in lower Ph compared to my local tap water. On a similar vein, are Cattapa leaves all they are made out to be? I've been told they help to lower the PH, but i worry about fluctuation as they decompose. Thanks!! You have been a great inspiration to do more research on to how to better my fish keeping skills.
Thank you for this. Very informative. Once again hit it out of the park. This just made me want Koi all the more. Need the constructing the pond video.
I have a scaless koi I believe it’s called a Doitsu funny thing is I got it when it was about 3 to 5 inches and I didn’t know it was scaless koi until recently ( the koi is now 3 yo )
Aquarium Co-Op Aquarium Co-Op I am too, but when I have the flu, I'm just too tired and sore to be grumpy. Even though I am feeling considerably better than Sunday(which was the worst I have ever felt), I am still trying to get over a terrible cough and stuffed up nose. But watching Koi/Goldfish videos make me feel better. Watching anything with animals, furry or scaly, makes me feel better in general. The Kohaku and Kujaku are my favorite. If I had a pond, would definitely have those.
Great video again Cory! Awesome video again! I love Koi, if I had space and money I'd get a big pond! haha. *Keep up the good work and thumbs up!* *#FishFam** **#TacoUnion*
hey Cory I think you should make your 800gal like the amano largest fresh water aquarium in the world which has a massive amount of all different tetra
here's a tip if your not doing this for business but just for your own pond and personal enjoyment just look for fish that you like and not the best expensive koi
Put the little ones in the pond because mosquito larvae are great. Add some scuds to the pond and let it algae up a little. Don't add gambusia or other mosquito larvae eaters until the koi are big enough to eat them, then add the livebearers for continual and sustainable live food.
His chagoi is most likely to win. Because of its DNA, it will grow much more rapidly, all things being equal. You can be sure your competition knows what he's doing, as do you. So it stands to reason that both your koi and his will be provided with the best of conditions in which to grow. That being said, the chagoi will most likely win. It's not so much a matter of skills, but of genetics.
Cory is right. Show winning pattern does not matter. All those kois that does not made the cut are for someone who does not care for the establish koi's pattern like me but really follow my own personal preference for the pattern and color. I find myself always loving utsuris. Btw I did bought a cheap Matsuba that is too dark and only had the ends part of it dyed in gold... Eventhough my friends say the pattern is not the ones that is considered great in the koi world. This is just because I think they look like dragons and I love black dragon with gold edges.. Hahahah...me and my fantasies. You can't have real dragons look that, well , at least you can have Koi's that look like it. This is the same with with some Showas, Doitsu, karashigoi, Kohakus and some Tanchos that I have.... If they ask why I pick particular fish? Cus the pattern reminds me of some anime or Manga characters or Something. You could show me some of the best pattern in the world But if the pattern is not to my liking and if it does not have something symbolic to what I like. I still won't choose that one. Some people have preferences when buying Koi and taking care of them. I for one loves rearing young Koi more than buying the already big ones. Its the size and pattern changes in Kois that excites me you know. Moral of a story, some man's trash is another Man's gold. It might not be a show winning ones or not the most striking ones on a dark or muddy ponds but satisfaction and adoration is there everytime I saw it come out when it was eating the fish foods.
Ugh, took me a long time to figure out what he was saying. Ki Mizuho Ogon. A long time ago we had something quite similar in our pond and I've never seen anything like it locally thereafter. Either that or it was Doitsu Ki Matsuba... I have no idea how to tell the difference.
We lost our favorite fish this morning... a beautiful comet goldfish. He was super sweet, but I just need to go watch fish vids and do some other stuff to cheer myself up :)
Hey anyone know the name of the koi at 6:31 that is orange black and white but has super shiny scales on top? its at almost center of the frame just off to the right a smidge.
I bought a young koi from a local grocery store (NOT WALMART) and I have him in a ten gallon tank, is he gonna outgrow it? Because of so I'm not sure what to do because I won't have any other options.
I didn't look at how old this video is. But if you want big koi grow them in green water. I believe this tip/trick whatever you want to call it don't get the respect it deserves.

Oh my gosh. Koi and goldfish videos are my absolute favorite this time of year.
why is he not picking up the solid black and orange one,to me it's the coolest one in the pond!!! the big patchy one.
Liz Wescott solid black are almost impossible to see in a deep pond that reflect a lot of light on the surface
I was thinking the same, looked really unique :)
solid black and orange is Hi utsuri. While a good fish, it wasn't one of the best in the batch.
you best be feeding them koi steaks for dinner, i got my money on you :)
That one was my favorite too. I personally wouldn't care if I couldn't see it in the pond.
You should show us the gopro footage as it fell into the pond!
All The best, Cory,
love your updates,
cane to know a ton about fish keeping through them!!!
Great Job!!!
That little doitsu has a perfect heart near it's gill!
Those were some amazing koi!! By auto-feeder, I'm picturing Jimmy chained to the pond 24 hours a day dropping in worms and peas and shrimp... Of course, everyone knows if you really want to put size on something, you feed it brisket.
I don't have any aquariums or anything but I just really enjoy these videos. They are really helpful and entertaining
It's never too late to get an aquarium ;)
Well, we are getting a koi pond this year so... i guess not lol. will keep all this stuff in mind
4 Koi grown as large as possible in one summer, and we get to see the results? Cant really see it as a win/lose scenario - sounds like a win win win win...
Awesome video Cory!! it was awesome to see the different types of koi
man you should totally buy that solid orange and black patchy one.
Wow! Those koi are so awesome! Again thanks for an awesome video Cory!🤗
That orange one with the black eyes definitely the coolest koi I've seen
Ill be rootin for ya Cory!!! Good luck on those beauties. This should be very interesting. Looking forward to the progress videos.
Those jumbo tosai are amazing!!
Also I can't wait to see how your doitsu grow! Definitely keep us updated!!! :D
Great vid, great conversation and great editing! Thanks!
Excellent discussion with a true koi expert, Zak of Koi.com.
So far this is my favorite video, awesome, keep the good work
Cory if you want to win you should come back there in like 2 months and switch out his koi for a smaller one
Ooh, no dislikes, that never happens! Awesome content as always Cory
I know most don’t like chagoi... but I love them so very much. Tea coloured ones are such gentle cuties
I enjoy them cause they get so big and are gentle as you've said.
Gin rin chocolate chagoi are one of my favourites!

i love when koi have really crisp white bodies with orange stepping stone pattern and black little spots
That is a sanke

I love this video. Very good job

I got one of those kawarigoi aswell, but in my country it's called a "ghost koi" I really love it :)
Cory you made a sucker bet with Zak! The chagoi with outpace the growth of both your doitsu combined!
The Chogai gives him a chance. I plan on winning :P
I hate being sick, but I love Koi and Goldfish videos.
I'm super grumpy when sick.
Aquarium Co-Op Aquarium Co-Op I am too, but when I have the flu, I'm just too tired and sore to be grumpy. I just love koi with shiny scales love them it doesn't matter what colour it is
Hang an insect zapper light above the pond so every night, your fishies get "autofed" with high protein. That should grow them out faster.
Oh my, im in love with koi, i want 4 to put in my pond , time to go shopping haha, thanks for sharing friend have a great day brother man
U got 6k to cough up! For 1 of thoes lil guys cost 6k
Is there such a thing as obese fish? The thought occurred to me while you were talking about how much you can push feeding them to grow them fast.
Yes, you have to worry about body conformation in the competitions. Also guppies you can feed them so much their chests explode.
koi is such beautiful fishes! I love the ones with long fins... butterfly? I don't actually know what they are called.
Great video again Cory!
Awesome video again!
I love Koi, if I had space and money I'd get a big pond! haha.

Great video! Who won the koi grow out contest?

Wicked video Cory!
That shiny orange is somthing special
I am in love with the Ted metallic one with the white face and fins.
I love that mostly black with slight spots of red and white koi, not sure what it's called.. but soooo pretty!
That Green Chagoi is awesome. I've gotta get one.
The one fish you picked up has a black heart shaped marking. It will be interesting to see if it stays that shape.
Love the video. Did not like him swiping the koi so often. It was hard to choose myself
I am Japanese. It was a very nice video.
I picked that matsuba right when you said you were gonna pick some. :D
Keren iwak koine, dikembangke lan budidaya ning jawa piye ya kui...

Love the video! You should do a video on your pond
I love the Matsuba koi, the golden one.
Aww, I wish Cory picked the chagoi, but at least he found some fish he really likes.
How do you keep track of the kois and pull them out without hurting any with a pond that deep please? I'm a rookie starting out lol
you go Cory, if anyone can do it, it's you.
At about 8-9 min in the fish were showing signs of oxygen deprivation, Im glad he put them back.
please more video like this. esp tategoi for every kind of koi.
I love the solid Orange one
I love koi they are such beautiful fish but where I live im not aloud to have ponds ..can I buy koi and put them in a fish tank
As long as you have a large aquarium like a 120 gallon or bigger then its fine
Excellent vid! Thanks for uploading.
Please post link for updates on growing the doitsu?
My personal favorites are chagoi, doitsu sanke, and the little cow ones (can't remember what they are called). What are your favorites?
Put the little ones in the pond because mosquito larvae are great. Add some scuds to the pond and let it algae up a little. Don't add gambusia or other mosquito larvae eaters until the koi are big enough to eat them, then add the livebearers for continual and sustainable live food.
great video Cory
I like the gold one's they look so cool

Got to go with Koi.com FTW...I'm sure he's got a few tricks you might overlook
What was he spraying when you moved to the second bucket? He sprayed a water bottle into the tub?
+BrickStackers alcohol
Cory do you have any killi fish in stock?
Why didn't he pick the one at 3:00 with the spade on its head? : (
I'm crossing my fingers for you to visit Kenny at Dandy Orandas. HE HAS A SWIMMING POOL AND A HOT TUB FULL OF Goldfish !!!!!!
We lost our favorite fish this morning... a beautiful comet goldfish. He was super sweet, but I just need to go watch fish vids and do some other stuff to cheer myself up :)
Amelia's Menagerie RIP bet they had a great life.
Thanks, he did :)
Did you go back and compare the fish?
Good video
Beautiful koi.😍
ok... So when are we going to see how big those fish got?
Where is the video where you ended up measuring your fish and deciding who’s the winner?
His fish were eaten by a river otter so there was no follow up video ;(
Chagoi grow way to fast. U should have tried to get an asagi they grow fast also. Kool video!
you will win!
😍 How much are the small ones about?
Was the winner picked?
Hey anyone know the name of the koi at 6:31 that is orange black and white but has super shiny scales on top? its at almost center of the frame just off to the right a smidge.

Cory, please show the results of the competition.
You got this!
Hello Cory, what are the results of the challenge? Would love to see the video.
Zach lost his fish due to the river otters getting into his ponds at koi.com
who won? do you export?
How much would those 7 cost with the pond and everything
What is the ogon called that he picks up at about 13min in the video?
How long did it take you to find the GoPro?
It took Zak like 60 seconds. Says he can feel the bottom of his ponds etc.
Wicked and great!!!!!!!!!!
