    good list, but the dune ornithoroptor needed to make the list, genius build and immaculate minifigures

      @BrickologyProductions  26 дней назад +1

      Thank you! I respectfully disagree about the Dune set though. Yes the minifigures are awesome and the set has some great functions, but it's just not that good looking of a build. Ugly midsection that's borderline unpresentable with horrendous color choices. I didn't even consider it for an honorable mention.

    My favourite is the Milano, not only the greatest Lego Marvel set in my opinion, but also the greatest Lego spaceship they've ever done (suck it, Star Wars fans lmao). Tbf fair though I do like the Dark Falcon, it's a bit more interesting an entry than the regular variant.
    My other favourites are the Fortnite Battle Bus, Minecraft Crafting Table, Zelda Great Deku Tree, LotR Bar-ad Dur, Glinda and Elphaba Buildable figures, and the Wicked Dormitory. Stellar year for Lego, definitely!

  • @GFettJake
    @GFettJake 22 дня назад

    For me it easily goes to the Milano Spaceship. I absolutely adore the first Guardians film. So to be getting a behemoth of a build with the most iconic ship being the Milano. On top of that getting all the Guardians members in one set together. And the price for piece is near perfect, with 2,000 pieces for $180 you really can’t beat this set.

    I'm a Harry Potter LEGO collector since Philosopher's Stone. I still have them since them. I have the original Durmstrung Ship, never really liked it, and I also dont very much like the new one. I agree it's perfect representation, but the ship has zero relevance in the story, we see it in at most three frames in the movie... so many other things I'd rather get. I wasn't at all wanting that, and that's definetely not one of my favorites from Harry Potter in 2024.

    • @BrickologyProductions
      @BrickologyProductions  6 дней назад

      That's fair but like, we're in year 23 of LEGO Harry Potter. I think getting more random and obscure stuff is awesome. And yeah the screentime/relevance is low BUT it makes an immediate impact on just how cool it is coming out of the water. Thanks for the insight, but I have to disagree.

    • @BrickologyProductions
      @BrickologyProductions  12 дней назад +1

      LEGO usually tries to avoid making sets based on themes like religion, war, etc. They famously ripped the Jabba's Palace set from shelves and then cancelled a 2023 diorama version of it because it resembles a Mosque. I don't agree with it (and I'm glad they made Notre Dame) but it's just how they've bee for a while.

    Sadly to me Barad Dur was the most disappointing set of the year. It's probably my only 400eur+ lego set I've ever been underwhelmed by
    My top 5 sets of the year are
    5. Either Hagrids Hut or the Deku Tree
    4. Natural History Museum
    3. Notre Dame
    2. Endurance
    1. Dungeons and Dragons
    Good year for Lego but nowhere near as good as 2023 (tho 2023 was just incredible so that doesn't really diminish 2024)

      @@zhenchen7769 don't get me wrong it's still a good set, just imo the least great of the 400eur+ sets inown
      the scale is weird because they went semi minifigs scale, kind half miniscale, half not miniscale. It results in some really weird window and gate scaling and just some weird general proportions
      The interior is just mostly wasted, a third is used for a shitty movie meme
      The minifigs are... Meh... Sauron is incredible, mouth is good, the rest are... There. But the biggest issue is there are no 9. If the "good" set in Rivendell had the 9 walkers, the "evil" set Barad Dur absolutely should have had the 9 riders
      A few details are just undercooked imo like the rocks climbing up the tower
      ...
      It's still a good set but simply does not live up to any of my other 400+ sets and especially not Rivendell

      @joshlyman7059 25 дней назад

      @@zhenchen7769 well, absolutely Rivendell if you haven't got it yet, imo the single best Lego set
      Other big sets around Barad Dur price range I have that I love and would recommend are the Lion Knights Castle, Gringotts Bank, Avengers Tower
      I would also recommend the Eiffel Tower and the Titanic but those are more expensive and truly massive
      For this year's sets I would recommend the DnD set, absolutely gorgeous fantasy set with excellent minifigs and incredible detail
      As for smaller sets I think are incredible and would recommend I'd say the A Frame Cabin, the Lighthouse, the Indiana Jones Temple and the Hogwarts Castle and Grounds set
      That all being said, my Barad Dur opinion is purely my opinion, I recommend you check enough reviews or build videos and make your decision :) it is still a good set, there is no big Lego set I own that I dislike but one has to be my least favourite and that happens to be Barad Dur

    NO ORNITHOPTER????!??!?!?! WTF.
    anyway, here's where you went wrong:
    drop harry potter at 10, drop Notre Dame at 7 - too many parts for such a small and inaccessible set, DEFINITELY DROP DEKU TREE AT 4 - OMG what a rip off are you insane?, Drop Milano at 2 - WTF are you thinking?
    add Ornithopter at 2, Botanial Garden not here? WTF?! Speed Champions needs some love at the 10 spot, that line is doing so many good things these days, either McLaren Formula 1 Car or Ferrari F40 would have been worthy.
    Anyway, you have terrible taste. I hope you do better next year.

    • @BrickologyProductions
      @BrickologyProductions  20 дней назад +1

      You're taking this way too seriously, it's just my list. As for the Dune set, I think it's horribly flawed. Ugly looking build that compromised display for play--don't love it. Not sure what your complaint about Notre Dame is, that's what Architecture sets have always been. It looks so good. Ultimately, it's just a matter of taste, and I acknowledged that in the video. The Garden isn't my thing, I couldn't care less about it, and that's okay! Just because you disagree with my takes doesn't mean I need to "do better"

    • @BrickologyProductions
      @BrickologyProductions  20 дней назад

      @@chuckturdburger4612 Midi scale Falcon is great, and I agree LEGO should make more small sets, but I wasn't making this list thinking about only value in mind. It's purely based on my personal preference and the quality of the builds.

    • @chuckturdburger4612
      @chuckturdburger4612 20 дней назад

      @@BrickologyProductions Notre Dame is too dense. maybe that is a weird complaint. And yeah, larger architecture sets do that a lot, but for example Himeji Castle is just so much better and doesn't have as many parts/details hidden inside that you can't even see.
      just swap the pins on ornithopter. Yeah, lego should have included them, they probably thought people wouldn't be able to keep it all straight and mess up the build, but it's an easy enough fix and looks stunning afterwards. It's a marvel of lego engineering for a non-technic set and deserves credit for bridging that gap.

      @@chuckturdburger4612 The colored pins look horrible, and that is what LEGO included with the set. You can't ignore a flaw a set has because you can modify it. If that's the case then no LEGO set is flawed ever because you can just change it. I also think the mid-section of the vehicle just looks clunky, not a huge fan of its appearance.
