    Before I criticize, let me first say that this is an amazing project that I'm not sure I could ever pull off. You are a master of your craft.
    That said, it occurs to me that you have the blade on the wrong way around. If it were me, I would have the blade face towards the back as I wear it. This mock-up would work for a left-hander but at the end I see that you placed it on your right. It seems that whenever you draw the full knife, you have to turn it around before you can use it (unless you intend to use it to stab only).
    Also, with that sheath you need a leg-tie or some kind of locking device on the belt so that you can draw it with one hand.

    Morale of the story, never try to rob Jimmy DiResta, he'll just grab the nearest piece of wood or metal, hammer the shit out of in and turn it into a badass knife in a matter of seconds!

    First time watching one of your videos. My thought process is as follows:
    First half: Confusion. "...the hell is this guy doing?"
    Second half: Shock. "This man is clearly insane."
    End: Convinced. "I'm subscribing to this lunatic."
    I've yet to watch any more of your videos, but I hope to God they follow the same slap-dash, haphazard, no music or explanation format. Anybody else and they would take the time to explain every decision, every cut made. Boring. Spontaneous chaos is my favorite form of art and I didn't even think to apply it to blade making.

      Ocatarinabela (Tchi! Tchi!)
      I beg to differ... I own both, a Victorinox SwissTool Spirit X, as well as a Leatherman Surge. Both fine tools, but Leatherman's construction is better. Pliers are superior, blades are stronger, accessories more available. And about 25-30$ cheaper, here, in my neck 'o' the woods.... And I was not a Leatherman fan. More of a Victorinox one. Had my trusty Victorinox Officier pocketknife for like ever and loved it. Then I had a BuckTool, which I loved but was not the best. Then got the Victorinox Swisstool. Loved it. Then someone told me about Leatherman and convinced me to check them out, which I did. And was impressed enough to get myself one. Now, I am sold. Love it! Best darn portable multitool I have ever owned...

      ***** In restaurants and in movies you've paid for a service. None of us has given Mr. Diresta anything. He is simply showing off his skills and hard work, free for us to enjoy. We have no right to complain about his work.

      Gunnar A No I'm fairly certain that we do infact have a right to say if we disagree with something, regardless of having paid to see it or not, plus you could easily argue that we've given him a view and ad revenue if his videos are monetised, not to mention that these are public videos so quite frankly if I want to post that I think something he made is shit, then shockingly I think I will do.

  • @Odood19

    That is a wicked cool design! If you are planning on making a second one, might I suggest a full tang construction, manipulating the tang to become the multi-tool holder. Maybe weld the holder part onto the tang.

    • @SHNUCAU
      @SHNUCAU 9 лет назад

      I think that would make the multi-tool cumbersome. It would be too large. this design allows for easy transition between the two.

    • @Odood19
      @Odood19 9 лет назад

      Matt de Oliveira I was thinking he could trim down the tang so it's not extrusive

    • @SHNUCAU
      @SHNUCAU 9 лет назад

      That still prevents the use of the more compact design of the multi-tool. It would be like using a 10 inch knife to carve something. The smaller tool has the ability to do things that the larger one can't by virtue of its size.

    • @GROENAASMusic
      @GROENAASMusic 9 лет назад +1

      Eric Mongrain Indeed. I don't think you can cut other metals with a regular bandsaw. Aluminium is probably the only metal soft enough. There might be exceptions, but I cannot say for sure because I'm not a thoroughly experienced craftsman like Jimmy.

    • @rabbitphobia
      @rabbitphobia 9 лет назад +1

      +JarAxe
      The metal sheath will dull the blade very quickly regardless of how soft Aluminum is if you cut butter for long enough it too will dull a knife and aluminum will dull it so quickly it would be unusable I think its as Tom said its just for looks and showmanship.

      TheDutyPaid Prying, batoning, chopping, dropping onto a hard surface, drilling a hole with the point. (That's just examples of stuff I've done today with my own knife.) Anything where the knife blade impacts or a twisting force is applied is going to cause that blade to come off and go flying. You're right, basically all that knife is good for now is cutting apples and opening boxes. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link, and a weld is always ALWAYS the weakest point. I cringed when he cut that blade off the tang, and I stopped watching when he tried to weld it to something else. You just don't do that with any kind of blade. It creates a very real safety hazard and is just plain WRONG.

    • @Serum-cy9hs

      +Braeden Hamson that wasn't good enough to have the devil involved and in my experience things are only a matter of perception and things of the devil are only destroyed to be transformed into things of good . That is if you see things as such meaning good and evil . All is one on its way to being the other in time .

    I love how much he outperformed the "eclectic" mind of Adam Savage's own attempt at a multi-tool holder very similar to this one in ruclips.net/video/Et-JvYrQ84o/видео.html . It goes to show how humble and understated this guy is, The world needs more people who know to under promise and over deliver

      I love both of their streams, because they both clearly love what they do. This multi tool holder looks great and has that bad-ass edge. As someone who isn't familiar with any of these fabrication techniques, I learn a little more from Adam's one day builds because he explains them as he goes.

      I didn't waste my time because I learned few new things and I have enlightened my skill set. there is over 5k likes so few people disagree. I also invented a few other things during this process by letting my creative mind wonder. You will never see these ideas I developed. I don't think in terms of wasted time like you. I am feeling a bit sorry for you. You should reevaluate your life. Thank you for the kind words.

      jimmydiresta so true Jimmy, I have failed so often in the shop its ridiculous. I am better with each failure. Most people don't understand, I tell them I'm practicing. To the original poster I look at a lot of Jimmy's work as art not functionality.

  • @1theheightofparadise
    @1theheightofparadise 9 лет назад +5

    hope you don't hit the blade on the inside of that metal case. this piece seems heavy and not something that looks comfortable using. also won't you dull the blade if you put it in and out enough because the holder is made of metal.

    • @jmelb4650
      @jmelb4650 9 лет назад

      No he should not dull it. the sheath is aluminium, which is a software metal. you would cut through the sheath before you dulled the blade.

    • @Vykk_Draygo
      @Vykk_Draygo 9 лет назад +9

      +JK JIBJAB If you can dull a blade on wood and cardboard, then you sure as shit will dull it on aluminum.

    • @jmelb4650
      @jmelb4650 9 лет назад

      +Vykk Draygo aluminium is a sort metal. steel isn't. the steel will not dull, it will only rub againnst it. steel vs cardboard or wood, it will act like sand paper, becauuse it is uneven, and soft.

    • @rabbitphobia
