Raunchy rock n roll at its best! The girls loved it. Mick Taylor shines in this. I've been a fan since 1964.
This performance was so Rock n Roll to me. The Stones in their Peak period right here.
Great choice Music Man!
@@ChandraKSC Thanx Brotha 👍🏾
The Stones are always at their peak
Not even close, best midnight rambler. Bedspring symphony. (Brussels 73)
One of my favorite Stones songs. Never heard this version before. Wish I was there.
Wonderful rendition. Bravo 🎉
This is so early 70s, the vibe of it. Yes I’d be willing to bet they were all high! The feeling of rock n roll debauchery and grittiness is definitely palpable in this performance! It’s one of their darker songs, too.
It may be partly a generational thing, the reason why it seems weird, the vibe of it. I can see how it would come across that way in the context of 50 (!) years later. Also, it *was* weird, and I think that was part of the appeal- they were out there, really went to the edge when they performed. It’s so interesting and I learn so much seeing these songs through your perspective. Very interesting and great reaction!
I saw them perform this song, live before I heard the studio version. Blew my brain apart.
This is as good as rock n roll gets
😎🎵✌️🎶👏
It's the toughest thing to mix two distorted guitars in a live situation, and have them both sound clear and distinct. That's the miracle of this performance to me. And Jagger's swag, of course. Oh, and the shifting rhythms that keep things interesting.
I quite enjoyed this live performance request & reaction, bloke!
Very dirty, improvisational at their best. Always get lots of love.
The song is a about a fictional serial killer/rapist called the Midnight Rambler, some of the Lyrics are supposedly to be from Albert DaSalvos police confession (He was the Boston Strangler)
You must listen to the 1969 live version from Madison Square Garden
Wow, I was always listening to Madison SQ Garden version still the best for a first listen of this song live imo with the band super tight and Mick Taylor bringing it home with Charlie in Sync (like Led Zepp Live MSG). This RAW version however, was a real treat in so many other respects. What a find!
The Recording is the Best
Love this version- it’s not a feel good rock song.
Great song. Great performance. Only wanted to see more of Mick Taylor playing. He defined their sound then. His tone and style were uniquely his of those like Brian Jones and Ron Wood. He's my favorite and was sorry that he was no longer in the band when I saw them in 75 & 77..
ya yas has the best live version of this tune
I like the Stones. I don’t remember many songs where Mick played the harmonica. This song reminds me of Richard Berry,Have Love Will Travel. Could you react to Buddy Miles, Down by The River.
That's my Jam Rosemary ruclips.net/video/MHFPGb6XqdU/видео.html
He has played harmonica on countless songs since their earliest days.
@@fuchsiaswing8545 I am sure you are right. I just haven't heard them. My bad. Sometimes I forget that Mick is a musician as well, I am so use to his singing. Thanks for the info.
@@rosemarywatson1231 I know, but make no mistake about it. Mick plays almost every major instrument, from drums and piano to a pretty mean rhythm guitar. He's not a proficient wizard on any of them, but as a songwriter, he's a very musical guy.
@@fuchsiaswing8545 I know, well I mean I didn't know about the piano or the drums, but I knew about the guitar. Since we are talking, who plays that guitar riff on Start me Up?
I read what Kevin Campbell wrote and I of course had to Google the lyrics. They are quite Grimm. I love, love, love the Stones, though, but never heard of this song. All I can say is, "Hmmmmm!"
Peak era Stones lineup right here!!!
Not the best version of Midnight Rambler I’ve heard, but good n the best filmed.
Jimmy Page is out there in the club too
The Midnight Rambler is a serial killer who rapes his victims before he slices them up. Hence the reference to the Boston Strangler
THIS MUSIC SOUND LIKE CAT SCRATCH FEVER STRAY CAT STRUT REACT AND SHEENA EASTON STURT THEY BOTH GOOD SONGS.
I prefer the live to the original studio
I enjoy this live a lot, maybe more than the original studio, but I don’t think I’d enjoy it nearly as much if I did t already know the studio version.
I was never the biggest Stones fan but you can see in this live performance on why Mic needed a larger stage to perform. Seeing Keith Richards take a "Sip" out of what ever whiskey that was just to keep him "going" in what '68 maybe sooner that this was shown? Just goes to show you or maybe even me that they rocked hard, played hard, partyed hard, lived hard. But never went over that threshold that Jimmy Hendricks, Jannis or Jim Morrison did. Funny in a tragic why how things in our rock and roll experience works out.
This song on the "Get yer ya yas out" album isa WAY better version ,in my opinion
I was torn about which version to request.
@@musicman9914 Well you've listened to one now you must hear the other!lol
I love the Ya-Ya’s version, but Taylor was still on a leash in 1969. They really let him cut loose circa 1972-73.
@@johnfields9416 I've heard the iconic Ya Ya's version as well. 👍🏾
I love the ya ya’s version but also love this version as well.
The magic of the Stones then was that you had the original studio version and great live versions which whilst the same track each one sound a little different.
Unlike other performers whose work relied more on a vocal hook the Stones with their rhythmic style could deviate from the original and made great music in the process
Yeahhhh now don't do that...
I still prefer the "Get Yer Ya Ya's Out" version.
Bummer for you. That's about as good as it gets for the Stones. Midnight Rambler was modeled after the Boston Strangler.
The Rolling Stones have made a long successful carrier playing black Amar can music poorly
Still the best rock band ever
