    Lisa Fischer did background singing for quite a few big names. She was with Luther Vandross for a while. She went solo. One of her top hits was How can I Ease the Pain. Please react to that live in Japan. Also there is a documentary on her as a background singer. She hated being in the spotlight and would much rather be in the background. She is still preforming today ❤️

    Favourite Stones track. Sailors and US soldiers brought the blues to Britain - bands like these loved and learnt them, and brought them back to a part of America that wasn’t listening

    Epic tune performed live. I have seen the Stones 16 times from 1981-2019. Lisa Fisher was a big part of the show well into the 90s, perhaps longer.

    Many great frontmen including some who could really sing.
    Jagger was probably the first white rock singer to steal the show...... but a few Black performers were ahead of him.......except they didn’t have Keith or Charlie on drums. lol
    Now you have a choice of Jimmy Barnes, Bon Scot ( AC/DC ), Michael Hutchence..... and that’s just from Australia.
    Many many more in the world of music.....
    Maybe even David Gilmour...... doesn’t move around much but he does play lead guitar as well. lol

    I was lucky enough to have seen the Stones once in concert, on the 1981 Tattoo You tour, and I think the version you've shown of Gimme Shelter might be better than the one they performed that night. It was that good. Tina Turner opened for the Stones that night. Biz, I hope you get to one day see the 1970 documentary "Gimme Shelter" which documents the Stones 1969 tour of America which ended in violence at the Altamont Speedway in California. The Stones were trying to do a "west coast" version of peace and love Woodstock, but they made the mistake of hiring the Hell's Angels to be their security. Fascinating film.

    • @marymargaretmoore9034
      @marymargaretmoore9034 Год назад +2

      I was there. It was a complicated situation. They hired out of town club members and it did not work out well; Sam Cutler (Stones' road manager) hired the HA in Europe and it was peaceful over there. If he had had local club members, friends of his, do security it wouldn't have turned out that way. Anyway, we all agree that it was a big mess. btw, Sam went on to be the road manager for the Dead!

    • @KennyY-bh3zl
      @KennyY-bh3zl Год назад +1

      @@marymargaretmoore9034 It's amazing to hear from someone who was there, Mary. Sam was the first to introduce the Stones as "The Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World!" He was also the promoter of the 1973 Watkins Glen Summer Jam which I wish I could say I went to, but I did not because I was really sick in the days leading up to the concert. My friends went without me and had a great time. Did you happen to read the 2017 book on the Altamont concert entitled "Altamont: The Rolling Stones, The Hells Angels, and the Inside Story of Rock's Darkest Day?" The author's name is Joel Selvin. The book talks about the whole story of the concert from beginning to end, all the mistakes that were made by all concerned. It even tells how the stage was not set up high enough, which one can tell from the movie. Really interesting book. Nice to hear from you, Mary.

    Wow. This live version is so good. You're going to get so many comments about this song, and the vocals and all. So after all that I hope *sometime* you take a listen to Keith Richard's solo work especially his first album "Talk is Cheap." You can hear that chill guitar that makes up so much of the Stones' sound. (Also lots of references to Mick Jagger when Keith had withdrawn from the band.) Anyways: "Locked Away" is golden also "Make No Mistake" "Rockawhile" ... lots of different vibes. Cheers!

    I watched your take on Gimme Shelter (live) here sevreal months ago, Biz. I saw this tour (Bridges to Babylon in ‘97 and ‘98) several times. Looking through my favorites today I came across the opening song (Satisfaction) and the final encore (Jumpin’ Jack Flash). Not to ignore what went on in the 2 hours in between them, these 2 were hot AF!
    This opening is my favorite lighting stunt (they always have one) from any of the tours I have seen from ‘81-2019. Jumpin’ Jack Flash version is killer too. For both songs, this is what they call in the music industry as ‘everyone getting their d!(ks hard at the same time. I think you could have fun reviewing them both.

    Stones up until mid 70's where a great studio band. Saw them twice they where brutal. They are a small venue band. Stadiums stage is way too big and empty. The Stones are 100 ft apart. They sounded terrible. Living Color opened one time and they where much better. They stalled after Mick Taylor man went commercial. Too bad. Hell my home town had a Stones clone band back in the 80's The Blushing Brides. They where better. Early Stones on vinyl ya man no doubt good band.LONG LIVE THE WHO(album for you too listen to bros is Odds and Sods by The Who. Totally different then The Who you know). Peace

    Style of music dictates front man's movements. Zeppelin is heavy grooving shit singer running around dont work. Plant can sing. Jagger fits The Stones. Its the fit. Richard's couldn't play Zeppelin and Page wouldn't fit in The Stones.
