Since super (2010), he didn't direct nothing else but superhero movie which is worrisome because every superhero movie he did basically same jokes if you watch them all back to back. How to fixed superman legacy 1) follow Source material, they have 85 years of source material they can choose from but my favourite always been earth one post crisis although it's dark and serious but I can see gunn should do earth 2 post crisis because it's much more light hearted and family friendly 2) replaced D list JL character with superman side character. Martian manhunter, Steel or superboy can be use if he want to 3) never copy paste MCU jokes and formula into DC, create your own style that fits with DC. superman supposed to be conservative while Lois Lane supposed to be liberal. Use that as yin and yang for their interaction and never reuse Starlord x Gamora relation ship because it's not how clark x Lois supposed to have Finally, hired a better fight choreographer. I didn't impress at all when GoTG 3 finale fight scene because it's felt something is off.

Nice critique...genuine and informative. How were movies like "Godzilla minus One" and "Prey".. made on a budget? Hell, even the old B grade movies back in the 50/60's with dismal budgets...yet they rose to the occasion. Where is the imagination the directors are suppose to have? Have you seen some of the fan-made movies?? These Studios allow producers or bean counters to interfere far too much and often. Every movie needs to be a "Blockbuster"...just concise and entertaining for 2 hours. I always root for the little guy....be it, the hero or the director. Come on ..underdogs show your grit!! It had hung low on the radar. I saw one teaser some months ago and nothing more until now.
Makes sense. These didnt get alot if any at all, promotion. I knew cu i seen the trailer... And the ensuing fans shittin on it.
No you're still on the same timeline we're talking about timelines is not cringe enough for some people
Idiots
I saw this movie about three weeks ago, and I actually liked it a lot more than the other movies that came before. The story was surprisingly written well especially since it comes from the source material.
The creepy music impression was spot on
Fr it was😂😂😂
Please do a video on It’s What’s Inside! Great way to kick off spooky season.
Mignola was involved in this. Hellboy's creator. He wanted this to be good but the budget is limited
Magnola has been involved with every Hellboy movie or at least is marketed as being involved. Golden Army is the only one he was not pleased with because he felt that his time working on that film was wasted. Ironically, I think it is often considered to be the best Hellboy movie.
The one time I noticed the budget was that low was the CGI of the raccoon...Otherwise, everything else was pretty good, nothing over the top. I think this reboot of Hellboy is more down to earth and it fells like it's more accurate to the comics but I really can't say since I don't remember reading the comics, haha. I just feel like it is.
“What the fuck is this? Why are we in a mine?” 😂😂😂😂💀 perfect editing
In my old job, they spent countless money renovating the offices. After one year, they renovated the same place again, spending even more money. When I asked why this was happening, my manager said nothing and winked his eye. Probably something similar is happening in Hollywood.
Pointlessly making expenditures and "improvements" to increase an asset's value while justifying tax breaks? Yeah, sounds like corporations gonna corp.
I really appreciate that - for this October - Jeremy is giving us a list of modern horror flicks that nobody even knew were coming out.
Since Ron Perlman is old and Guillermo del Toro has ventured in artsy animation…I want to see a r rated animation horror version of the original movies.
the del toro movies are not real Hellboy. it's super hero bullshit.
@@1981troyboy I know the context of the films aren’t really anything like the comics, the comics were pure horror but Del Toro films were more fantasy fun adventure. I’m just saying if he made another film it should be darker with the world of supernatural being normalized like comics. Also Hellboy should be more matured and more in line with his comics personality.
"Dollar store Demon Knight, without the Billy Zane charisma."
Perfectly understood the tone you were describing. Demon Knight is a surprisingly fun movie with a bunch of solid performances, but Zane outshines them all and without him, it just wouldn't be the same.
I thought it was pretty good. If they made a live action series that would be cool.
I've already started the binge. I've watched Evil Dead, Talk to Me, Terrifier, and Session 9. I'm going to watch Chucky, Ready or Not, and Insidious.
love your hair man, flawless.
I watched Dog Soldiers the other day. I forgot how much I loved this movie! The Werewolves were some of the scariest I've seen.
They are still to this day the scariest werewolves in film.
@@legendofold101 Not for me, though. (But I do love Sean Pertwee)
The weird hybrid human-wolves in HOWL had my hair standing up. Those look exactly how a fucked up mix of man and wolf would look.
I have no idea why people are hating this movie. It's good
Honestly if it had the budget this would have been really good cause the faithful comic book look is very good
Jeremy, I’d love to watch your review of “Shōgun”
I'm a Hellboy fan and I completely forgot about this movie coming out...
Jeremy your impression of “that” scary music made me laugh. Love your reviews ❤️😁
I wonder how many people know about that Altered Beast intro you did!
Rise from your grave.....
Wise fwom yo gwave
Well i did
So happy you did a review to this film. Wasn't sure if it was a fake film
But that DSLR was jailbroken with Blackmagic latern, which Canon doesn't recommend doing if you do not know what to do or set up. This gives you a 14-bit raw video, and ever since, I have done it, too. 3:34
This is honestly my favourite Hellboy movie, the actor for Hellboy played him excellently, the comic accuracy was great, and they did such an awesome job with the budget they had! I had a blast watching this in cinemas, it was such a great and immersive experience!
I think Del Toro would only do another HB if Pearlman was game but he says he’s too old for it now.
Pearlman has always said he was game. I think it's more on Del Toro honestly, he's so busy with his own projects and ideas
@ogreface8 I wonder of he even has the film rights anymore, or at least will the studio who does let him make another one.
@@ogreface8from what I heard the reason the third Hellboy film didn’t happen was the studios weren’t giving Del Toro the budget he needed, they were reducing him to a producer not a director, and Del Toro couldn’t win the fight with them. And Ron Perlman I’ve heard mixed messages between “if he ain’t directing I’m not doing it”, to him being a bit too old now to deal with the heavy makeup and having to bulk up for the role.
Dude is 74😅. That role needs someone literally half his age.
@@masilomoshesh1475 Honestly surprised with his age....I remember him in no makeup in Alien Resurrection but he didn't seem old there....
Oh shit that confusing film came out in '97, 27 years ago!!!
He was "just" 47.....lots of Sevens here, he should invest in Catholic Stock
Thanks for the review. Definitely going to watch Crooked Man on streaming. Just watched Shock Waves, Longlegs, Phantasm and Son of Frankenstein. All good movies.
"...there were moments in here....wellll...." - Jeremy dropping hope bombs 2024
Looking forward to you reviewing 'The Substance'. I hope you have chance to get around to it.
0:19 Crank- a movie for those of you who don’t know, is about an agent who has this thing in heart that’ll kill him if he doesn’t maintain a high level of adrenaline, prompting him to do some crazy things, including doing the devil’s tango in public with his ex-girlfriend. A truly unhinged pile of horseradish
Edit: Based the overwhelming positivity for this movie in the replies, I feel I should maybe stamp this comment as an “opinion”😂 Apologies for the offense, ladies and gentlemen
Movie was great! He wasn't an Agent and he was poisoned.
and they made two of them! :D
Everyone knows that movie for how infamously bad it is. The devil's tango? 😂😂😂 You can say sex.
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
So crank was bad but honestly I think they knew it would be because the like the sleeping with his gf in public the whole scene feels like a wink and a nod, sort of a we know it sucks so let's have fun type of situation
Yea this is exactly what I expected from the trailers. But for the October binge so far going good, watching it follows, both beetlejuice movies, ghostbusters, hereditary, going to start nightmare on elm street movies next.
It’s better than joker 2
I WHOLE LOT BETTER
That’s not saying much.
Literally, any movie is better than Joker 2....
You have me sold already
watching grass grow is better than Joker 2
Bro, loved the Altered Beast clip you did. Nostalgic!
I watched the movie and to be honest i like it.
My Halloween binge has been going how it always goes. I made a whole list of films to watch, but instead opted to mostly watch random horror movies that popped up out of nowhere. Highlights thus far: The Caller (1989), Lair of the White Worm and Rawhead Rex.
1:49 most Hellboy stories are “small”
Oh you mean the Golden Army and the beast destroying the whole world/all of humanity? Yeah..small…
@@joeyfromnowhere no one is talking about GDT’s hellboy movies, those are superhero hellboy movies. Theyre not even accurate theyre their own thing with their own takes on that world and the characters.
Even Mignola said to keep GDT’s movies his movies and keep the comics the comics. A lot of hellboy stories NOT THE INACCURATE MOVIES. Are very small and take place in small towns. Things get big with events sure?… but the biggest events within the mignolaverse have been BPRD related with hellboy only coming back during the final arc to fight Rasputin before the new race of man was born and humanity went extinct.
A lot of hellboy is backwoods horror, and in the comics he’s famous so a lot of the fights and big monsters stuff happens with people already knowing about it.
I appreciate the review. I had fears after the trailer and you confirmed those fears.
Here is what I have watched and will watch for the rest of the month. I am only allowing myself one movie a day and they all had to be stuff I own on physical media.

Same. This totally flew under the radar lol.
Honestly, I was wondering if this would even seen the light of day given the ai fubar nuttiness that happened with the production. Thanks for the review!
dayum, we need Guillermo del Toro back, also for Pacific Rim
Exactly!
He's actually got all the creativity, originality and heart all of Hollywood lacks
The biggest L in recent cinema was not giving guillermo the reigns to Justice League Dark.
Couldn't agree more... no one understands how to give monsters character like Del Toro. 😢
@@hi5ornah530 What about him not being given permission to do his Mountains of Madness adaptation
Too bad he's not a good director or writer and everything he's made since Pans Labyrinth has been boring to bad.
I literally did not know this movie existed till you dropped this review.
It's something. I just can't believe Neil Marshall dropped the ball so hard with the last one. Welp, might as well watch this to some bong rips.
The last Hellboy was pretty good. I don't care what anyone says.

Bellboy 3 bell yeah
*Hellboy
what an absolute banger of a new rating you've invented.
Ah yes, the A24 horror music score
It seems they maxed out that 20 million budget to film making so they'd got nothing left for the advertising. Respect.
I have extremely high hopes with James Gunn's Superman.
A great Superman film hasn't been seen since Superman 2. Maybe James Gunn will reinvent DC for good.
If you think James gunn will do good, you obviously never read superman comic. Red flag from gunn's superman movie
1) gunn admit to not following source material
2) superman legacy will cramped with D list JL member because gunn didn't know how to direct solo superhero movie
3) his movie will be another guardian of the galaxy but this time swap each character with DC
Before you said I'm haters, I love his slither movie and I want him to return back to that genre. Since super (2010), he didn't direct nothing else but superhero movie which is worrisome because every superhero movie he did basically same jokes if you watch them all back to back.
How to fixed superman legacy
1) follow Source material, they have 85 years of source material they can choose from but my favourite always been earth one post crisis although it's dark and serious but I can see gunn should do earth 2 post crisis because it's much more light hearted and family friendly
2) replaced D list JL character with superman side character. Martian manhunter, Steel or superboy can be use if he want to
3) never copy paste MCU jokes and formula into DC, create your own style that fits with DC. superman supposed to be conservative while Lois Lane supposed to be liberal. Use that as yin and yang for their interaction and never reuse Starlord x Gamora relation ship because it's not how clark x Lois supposed to have
Finally, hired a better fight choreographer. I didn't impress at all when GoTG 3 finale fight scene because it's felt something is off.
...there was one? Seriously, until I saw Jeremy's review I didn't know this existed...😂
My queue to re-watch "Hellboy: The Golden Army"🎉
Was that the ALTERED BEAST intro, awesome touch of nostalgia 💯
I've been watching the Freddy Kreuger tv show for October, really fun and underrated
Will you do a review of The Substance? I just saw it yesterday and it was a wild unexpected ride and I don’t think enough people know about it.
The Substance was unbelievable!
My Halloween month has had a solid start with rewatching Terrifier, and watching new releases Immaculate and Lisa Frankenstein. Immaculate was okay-ish, but I loved Lisa Frankenstein, and I love the Terrifier movies. Looking forward to the 3rd one, which releases in Brazil literally on Halloween.
Mad respect for the altered beast transformation transition nostalgia blast
So far so good with the horror binge. Watched a couple Argento movies I'd never seen before, couple of Chronenburg that were new to me, a Romero flick, a 40's horror film, and a movie with a radioactive cat monster.
Jeremy I desperately need a review of “the substance” from you. I believe it could be the best horror of the year
Nice critique...genuine and informative. Yeah, Ron Perlman is the only true Hellboy.
So far, I've watched Sleepy Hollow, Sweeny Todd, The Conjuring, and The Crow 1994
Fair review. I support this movie because it will make way for more like this of Hellboy series but hopefully done better. It's a kind of decent movie for what they were working with. It's best to go in not expecting much. It does a good job being horror and superhero comicish. We need more that. It does drag out some dull moments but it ends decently.
You need to watch terrifier 1 & 2 and review the 3rd one coming out this week. Reactions and reviews so far giving it lot of praise
I might check this out.
I read the Crooked man comic and really enjoyed it. I even saw on yt someone do a voiced comic dub video and I say the voice actors did a good job.
I expected people having a special reaction to it since all they know about Hellboy is from the Del Toro movies.
I love Hellboy but after the 2019 film and my initial reaction to the first trailer of The Crooked Man, I wasn't expecting much. After seeing it for myself, I really enjoyed it. I hope to see more, whether it's more movies or an Amazon series.
"Our flawed last best hope. How are those not the coolest characters."
I find the Trump show to be entertaining as well. This season in particular is crazy!
I’m looking forward to watching this, flaws and all. Great review Jeremy!
