Beautiful cathedral and city. Have a grandson who is a fine singer and a student at Wells Cathedral School.
I think that England is good place to live in Europe. I really like their culture and all of its traditions.
we aren't in Europe anymore boi
@@immersionedits9597 LOL think you mean we are not in the EU
@@garwhittaker3743 same thing
@@immersionedits9597 No ,Europe a continent and the EU a political entity
@@immersionedits9597So Norway and Switzerland are not in Europe?
So beautiful
such a splendid cathedral for so small a city, you wouldnt see that in europe, not even in italy
How did they build such wonders in the time period but can not do so today? It is amazing.
Back then they took as long as a century to build
Magnifique 👌🙏
Thank you for taking us to the cathedrals!
Wells is one of my favourite places. For such a small city, there are a remarkable number of places worth seeing. This video completely forgets to mention the moat that still rings the castle. It also has some really nice pubs.
Thanks, Rick. Very nice indeed.

I think sitting in these great buildings whilst listening to "Miserere Mei Deus" would put me into a beautiful gothic trance. Not being religious myself, I still don't consider myself part of the Atheist movement that deny ANY and ALL religious benefits... What about these magnificent structures?
Atheism isn't a movement. If you don't believe in God, you don't believe in God. Nobody defines themselves by their atheism or even gives it a second thought. It would be like identifying yourself as a non-sushi eater because you don't eat sushi. Even as an atheist, I consider these buildings beautiful too, and appreciate many are being converted into apartments. Although you do tend to end up with a bizarre looking apartment.
@Michael Holmes The exteriors remain the same. At least as apartments they serve a purpose, the alternative is letting them decay. Nobody wants to pay tax to maintain them.
@Michael Holmes Cathedrals like Wells are still in use and maintained but there are thousands of churches across the country and the vast majority aren't active. Not all get turned into apartments, some do become museums or community centres and several have been converted to mosques (rarely popular) as the basic layout is more or less the same. They're not ancient churches either, they get protected status. They are more from the last few hundred years, and architecture from those centuries is very widespread. Sorry, didn't mean to waffle. I'm assuming you're American/Canada/Aus or NZ. Just giving a British perspective.
Is it catholic ? that is always the main question cause there the Lord is truly there in the tabernacle, body and soul, just as in the times when He walked the earth. Poor People, they do not know the most important things any more
Anglican. Why not just enjoy the beauty of the cathedral without the religious rhetoric.
