    What a great continuation to the lovely Wells! 🥵 that heat, thank goodness for winter, and a few months reprieve! How idyllic was Vicars Close? Like a movie set! Timeless! Those stone lanes ❤ so much to fall in love with here! This really is the England we see in all the american movies! Ive lived in England almost my entire life and rarely seen it like this! No swans will attack our lovely Dara! Dont get me started on the whole bread and ducks thing. Look bread ISNT GOOD FOR ANYONE ON THE PLANET! But do we like eating it? Yes we do! Feed the bread to the ducks, they will live longer and happier than all our OAPs that insist on eating it! Rant over. Loved the City Hall and ornate fountain, ah and all the magenta! What an incredible place. Im definitely going to be spending more time down there, especially when my aging legs start refusing to do mountains! Just magnificent! ❤

    Thank you for putting us right on what to feed the ducks and swans 👍 Good to know. There's a scene in the film "About a Boy" where they throw a chunk of the boy's mother's homemade "healthy" bread to a duck - and it kills it dead! 🤣🤣 It's okay, I don't think any ducks were actually harmed in the making of the film! 😅

    Wells is a beautiful place to visit and it's so easy if you're exploring Stonehenge and Bath.
    It's very much worth your time to go there especially if you're driving in that area vs taking a day group excursion from London.
    I know most Americans don't want to drive in the UK especially since 99% of us are going to fly into London but it's possible to rent a car outside of Central London so you don't have to drive there.
    And really unless you're lucky enough to live in London with a car so you need to drive there then just don't drive in London at all.

    • @MagentaOtterTravels
      @MagentaOtterTravels  2 года назад +1

      I agree, Christian! Go to Bath and go to Wells! And if you must, stop by Stonehenge... but Wells is better than Stonehenge IMHO ;-)

      @@MagentaOtterTravels And to you as well!!
      My first trip to Stonehenge was 1984 and it's much different than it is now.
      We were on that motorcoach tour from London to Bath and Stonehenge but back then the parking area was maybe 100 yards from the 'stones' and you were actually able to walk amongst them.
      Of course they had docents or attendants that lead visitors around and kept folks from trying to harm the stones but you were actually allowed to touch them.
      The next time I went was with my dad and grandfather in the late 90s and it was wildly different.
      You couldn't get anywhere near the stones except on their bus and the price to do it was eye watering.
      Today is my 50th birthday celebration so I've been out with my wife for a wonderful meal of my favorite chicken mole enchiladas.
