As a fellow clinician, I’d just like to thank you for creating this video. It’s something I add to emails when clients complain of Bluetooth issues and they think it’s because the hearing aid is at fault. You’re so clear in your message that it’s just the next video I’ve found explaining Bluetooth

Hi Emma, thanks for another super video! I have an Oticon Bluetooth TV Adapter 3.0 and I use it with Oticon OPN S3 aids; the fantastic thing about this system is that I can go out of the living room to the bathroom or even to the other back bedroom and not miss any of the storyline, but I guess the distance is around 10 metres!

Emma, thank you very much! This video has answered a lot of questions that I have about the Bluetooth in my hearing aids. I'm a Phonak Marvel user, and I've been trying the TV Connector, what has been a fantastic experience, with only one issue, I use it connected to my laptop, and during Webex meetings when I'm speaking, normally it stays in stand by, and when somebody starts to talk, I loose the first 3 or 4 seconds, which can cause miscommunication. Please, do you have any information or suggestion that could help me on that?

I use Oticon Hearing Aids. I use the TV adapter to listen to TV while my wife at the same time uses the external TV speakers. I find that I get an "echo" from the TV while listening to TV in this manner. Is there a way to turn off my hearing aids while leaving the TV adapter running through them in order to cut out the extraneous noise caused by the external TV speakers??

Dear Emma, Thank you for this video on hearing aids and Bluetooth. I have new hearing aids. In fact, I am still trying them out, and I really do find the Bluetooth unacceptable. Not only does it cut out, but when I play something like music that is in stereo, it switches from ear to ear, and far from seamlessly.
The main reason this is so frustrating is that I have had a much better experience streaming from my phone - same phone - with AirPods, which cost $200, and even with a pair of over the ear headphones, which cost $20, compared to the streaming quality from my $6800 hearing aids.
This seems just wrong to me!

Hi Emma. You speak very clearly about Bluetooth & smartphone issues. Thank you.
Ive switched from my 4 year old Odicon to the highest end Signia HA PURE C&G 7AX hearing aids last month. All OS are updated. My Samsung S9 android is compatible with these aids.
Forget about a range of 10 meters with bluetooh streaming. Even within 0.5 meter of my face, android in front of me & no active devices in my area, reseting bluetooth, restarting android, then pulling my hair out, the aids streaming audio switched from side to side, to off, to side, etc. Sometime it worked for hours properly, sometimes only for minutes. My Signia app showed its bluetooth symbal oscillation as well. I'm an tecky person that has tried many things. Even tested bluetooth db constant output power.
My question is, does this issue I'm having occur (as much or at all), on iphones, compared to android devices? I know Signia aids are made for iphones. I prefer andoids for many technical reasons. Your response could lean me in the iphone side for purchase.
Thanks for assisting me & all the others that may have similar problems.

I have been able to pair my Signia hearing aids with my Google Pixel 6 Pro, but no sound is coming into my bluetooth hearing aid ( on the right one has it because the left ear is too far gone ) When I had an iphone it was no problem ( I changed to a google phone for better accessibility features) I still have a IPad and the bluetooth works great with that. So, I think it might be a Google issue. Thoughts?

With Bluetooth in hearing aids, is latency a factor? Latency being the time it takes process the signal, which when combined when watching TV could induce a slight delay between the audio and the video. Is this an issue for some devices and hearing aids?

    • @ValueHearing
      @ValueHearing  Год назад

Hi Lynn. You can change to speaker phone (you'd obviously lose the audio streamed to your hearing aids). On an Android phone, you should see an option that says 'speaker' when you're on a call. If you select this, then it changes the audio routing to speaker phone. To get it back onto the hearing aids, there's an option with a Bluetooth symbol.

I have new Phonak Paradise P90, the top of the wazza for sure. They are fantastic but then yesterday, when streaming from my MBA M1, I could only hear from the left hand side. Now on my MBA, my Sony headphones worked fine and my Phonak HA worked fine on my wife's MBA. What could be wrong? I spent a long time with Apple last night culminating in a reinstall...nothing changed. What could be wrong? So some more time with Apple and finally I got a consultant who sorted it. Basically there are two BT profiles, one for phone calls and one for media streaming. Anyway it turned out that somehow the balance between L and R channels for the BT while connected to my MBA had been turned to the left hand channel. This is under system preferences and sounds and you click on the Phonak HA and voila you can change these settings. The consultant said this is a 'once in a blue moon' occurrence but it had happened on his old Mac some years before. I was thinking how this could have developed into a return the HA event and a monumental loss of confidence on my part. It got sorted but BT can be tricky. I love these hearing aids.

A problem that I hit with Bluetooth is having aids paired with iPhone and iPad. I normally use Bluetooth when watching iview etc on my iPad. To guarantee good connection I need to ensure Bluetooth is off on my phone if not the aids can get confused and not pick up the streaming from the iPad. So checking if another paired device is near is another thing to add to trouble shooting checklist.

I have Widex Moments and an iPhone 7 Plus. I’ve never had pairing issues or needed to reboot my phone to reconnect to them. Streaming is not perfect perhaps for the reasons Emma has mentioned. If I have issues with sound while on a call or meeting I switch audio to speaker then back to the hearing aids usually without missing a word. If I’m streaming i pause the stream to streaming disconnects then continue streaming. For instance if streaming RUclips I’ll hit the home button to the hearing aids exit streaming mode and then go back to RUclips. 😀

I am using Apple AirPods Pro and have been enjoying them very much. I got the memory phone replacement for the stock silicone tips which means they don’t fall out nearly as much. I have mild hearing loss, mostly interference from tinnitus, which means conversations are where I need help the most. It is convenient for adjusting the volume and if I am blocking background sounds for watching a movie or a video on RUclips, or want to hear conversation. The cost of the AirPods were much less expensive than hearing aids. I thought they were expensive before but in comparison to actual hearing aids, they are a great value for someone with my current hearing woes. I’ve had tinnitus from about age 45 and now am nearly 69. Tried all the hints and tricks to try to cure myself. My maternal grandmother had tinnitus and also my father, so I could have inherited the problem from either side of the family. Lucky me? Don’t find it so. At least the AirPods solution is working for me pretty darn well. Am grateful for the technology.

You will hear NOTHING. The streaming will get drowned out by the amplified background noise. Very dissapointing.

I had resound HA for 3 years they were problematic lose the sound level in quiet or loud situations. The Bluetooth was perfect never dropped a call always clear and switched from iPhone to automobile no problem. I now have Phonak Paradise 90 R and the are wonderful for conversation but Bluetooth is awful. Listen to you or another video on RUclips or music channel the sound constantly dropping…5 words then drops the next 3-5 words. Everyone has looked at the HA and no one can repair it and/or the static in the left. I guess when I want to stream music watch tv late at night, I will use the resound and the Phonak Paradise the remaining time.

Hi Emma, a suggestion for another video. Stating that facts about what hearing aides are best for iphones and androids. Eg. Signia are garbage for androids as they will stream to TV but will not connect to hearing aides. UNLESS you go and spend $500.00 aus and buy the microphone which you have to inconveniently wear and then you might get a connection.BUT the receiving person gets a very distorted conversation and it is also very limiting in your movements. So with all these videos out there non give the viewers all the real facts and demonstrations. None trouble shoot either when pairing with examples. Forget just talking and demonstrate would be better.

Bluetooth and WiFi often fight for the antenna. This is called co-existence. If bluetooth drops out while using eg RUclips, switch to 4G by turning off WiFi.

Hi Sean, Most hearing aids come Bluetooth-enabled these days. So if it's something that doesn't interest you, you simply don't have to set it up. Bluetooth in hearing aids can be life-changing for some, but others simply don't use the technology.
